I (accidentally) punched my dog

QuestionableMouse · 20/10/2018 19:54

Taking Ddogout for a walk earlier. Had his ball in my hand and as I went to throw it he jumped to catch it. Resulted in my hand meeting his rock hard head head with a very nasty crack.

It swelled up straight away so I went to minor injuries and I've broken my ruddy finger! Dog is 100% fine... His head is apparently much harder than my hand.

How's that for a stupid injury?!

A title change? Get a fucking grip your a bloody adult

outreach29 · 20/10/2018 20:44

QuestionableMouse consider the tenner yours. I just hope your dog gets on with our psychotic Serbian rescue dog who is quite particular about who he likes or doesn't like..

WickedGoodDoge · 20/10/2018 20:46

One of my friends broke her nose after she bent down at the same time as her dog jumped up and whacked her. Another friend broke her elbow after she tripped over her dogs.

Dogs are lethal. Grin

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/10/2018 20:48

Just a bit attention seeking a title like that. Obviously people were going to look 🙄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/10/2018 20:48

I have a distantly animal related injury:

DD had spilled some of the guinea-pigs' pellets, I asked her to plug in the vacuum. She pulled a plug out , as I was bending to pick up the vacuum plug so she didn't stand on it ('cos we all know that bloody hurts)
She punched me in the face with the plug she was pulling out

The guinea-pigs? Laughed . The turds.

Your dog is gorgeous , butter wouldn't melt Grin

I tripped over the dog in the kitchen once and gave myself 2 black eyes and a broken nose by face planting onto the handle of the oven. It was my first week in a new job as well!

EstherMumsnet · 20/10/2018 20:50

We've added an accidentally to the title, just in case anyone 'forgets' to read the thread before giving you an earful OP.

comedycentral · 20/10/2018 20:51

Beautiful dog.
I forgot to say I tripped over the cat on the stairs too. Fell down the last 4 or 5. Bloody pets.

HeirOfNothingInParticular · 20/10/2018 20:54

My cat tripped me up at the bottom of the stairs and I broke my tib and fib. I spent nearly a week in hospital and now have a plate and around a dozen screws in my ankle and leg . Still have the cat!

Tartanwallpaper · 20/10/2018 20:56

My dog often misses the ball and gets my hand or foot instead, then HE makes a shocked sound as though my hand/foot has hurt his mouth the attention seeking twat

ShannonRockallMalin · 20/10/2018 20:59

I got tangled up in my three cats the other day while they were all begging to be fed, whirled round and walked in the open oven door. Huge multicoloured bruise on my shoulder. Bloody creatures are always underfoot when I’m cooking.

yousimplyhavetobethesedays · 20/10/2018 21:01

My dog was under my feet because I was making packed lunches and she likes to 'help' with clearing up crumbs etc. She tripped me up and my foot got caught and I ripped my big toe nail out. It had to be put back in, didn't grow properly, needed surgery because it grew back in growing and is now falling off again. Bloody good job I adore the little sod

TicketyBoo83 · 20/10/2018 21:01

Our last dog broke 3 of DHs ribs by jumping on him in bed!

Spanielmadness · 20/10/2018 21:02

I was messing around playing with my puppy - just a bit of rough and tumble. As he turned his head up towards me, I was reaching to ruffle his ears and I poked him really hard right in the eyeball! My poor pup was very sad and confused - doing that conciliatory creep with his tail between his legs trying to placate me for whatever it was he had done wrong. I felt terrible and tried my best to cheer him up but it took a few minutes before he warmed up and didn’t look like he was terrified of me!

Andthentherewere5 · 20/10/2018 21:02

I did that to a child once! Class round my feet out on the field having the PE lesson explained to them. As my hands went down to emphasis something, a child decided to leap up. My nails and his head met. I damaged my thumb nail so badly the nail bed bled and I would normally have sworn my head off!
Obviously I was more concerned about the child but he seemed to have a remarkably hard head, and his mum just laughed. Not my finest teaching moment.

Justabadwife · 20/10/2018 21:03

Haha. That dog clearly doesn't give a fuck. 😂😂
Hope you're not in too much pain OP. 🤕

Seqkat · 20/10/2018 21:05

A while ago my cat bit me (over excited) and then HE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. Gave me a fantastic offended look too. Presumably I didn't taste as nice as he anticipated - he left tooth marks in my hand!

Hope your finger recovers quickly op! Lovely dog, too (if clearly trouble).

Bluelonerose · 20/10/2018 21:07

I trip over/stand on a cat every morning coz I'm not getting breakfast quick enough for them.

willdoitinaminute · 20/10/2018 21:13

My dog jumped on the bed and misjudged her landing. Ended up cutting my eyelid open with her claw. It was a Saturday morning and I couldn’t face a five hour wait in A&E or the “how did you do it?” so I used some steri strip to close it. It’s in the fold of the eyelid so you can only see the scar when my eye is closed.

QuestionableMouse · 20/10/2018 21:23

Some of these injuries are making me properly cringe. The toe nail one bork.

I did put smilies in the thread title to show it was light-hearted but they seemed to have vanished. Sorry if anyone was properly upset.

I frequently kick my dog in the face when playing ball with him (Jack Russell so his face is near the ground). I feel really guilty but he carries on running around after the ball as if he doesn't even feel it.

HemanOrSheRa · 20/10/2018 21:30

Many years ago, my stupid DP tripped over our old boy cat. DP put his arm out to steady himself and shoved it through the glass panel in a door, severing the artery in his arm and almost died. Huh. Utter plonker.

littleteethies · 20/10/2018 21:50

You got off lightly OP.
DDog has only managed to make me twist my ankle - all be it twice, tripped me and I fell over in the park + down the stairs.
However DP has had a black eye, a sliced ear, a broken toe and a nibble on his...ahem, little friend (luckily through jeans so no damage).
He’s a lovely but huge Alsatian who thinks (and acts like) he’s the size of a shih tzu.

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 20/10/2018 21:54

Hope your finger heals soon op Flowers dogs are so bloody careless at times Halloween GrinHalloween Grin
