Wedding flowers

I'm sorry in advance for this most likely STUPID question.

Can you get silver flowers?

What flowers are in season in September?

Getting married next year and thinking of having our bridesmaids in silver/grey with the grooms tie, decorations etc matching.

Is this a thing?! It's either that or blue!

Or even blue flowers. Any flower help would be amazing!

Not flowers as such but we had eucalyptus leaves in our (purple and deep pink) flowers as they have a silvery look to them Flowers

There’s no naturally silver flowers, white would be your best bet

I thought it was a stupid question 😂. Thanks for confirming.

Any ideas what's "in" in September?

I'll have a look at those though @catenthusiast thank you!

No, you can't get silver flowers or even truly blue flowers, most blue flowers are actually purple. I would go for white flowers with grey foliage and silver beargrass or willow added in. Or pale pink flowers to contrast with the grey. Most flowers are available all year round with the exception of spring flowers, peonies and a few others.

Knittedfairies · 20/10/2018 18:34

No silver flowers as such, not real anyway, but perhaps you could look here to see if it gives you any ideas.

MerryMarigold · 20/10/2018 18:35

I think it may be a bit too grey. White looks lovely against grey. How about orchids? You can get a few blue flowers, cornflowers, lavender, stocks and blue roses (personally, hate them) and even more in summer time. Are you jetting married at this time of year. You can alsi get flowers/ leaves sprayed silver.

blackcat86 · 20/10/2018 18:39

I can highly recommend fake flowers. I bought a beautiful bouquets and table decorations from eBay. No one realised they were take and I've kept my bouquet as a decoration for our living room.

goo.gl/images/ZpqnWG these are gorgeous. Too big though?

Thanks so much for your ideas ladies, I'll definitely look into the suggestions. I knew MN would help!

@blackcat86 I thought of this a few weeks back but thought they'd not look as good as they do online in images!

Thank you

Pinterest is your friend! But bear budget on mind too.

Blankety30 · 20/10/2018 18:42

LOVE this one goo.gl/images/cyGXmC

You can scatter fake flowers in but you need good ones. There will be lots of silver sprayed leaves over Christmas.

Blankety30 · 20/10/2018 18:43

Thanks @MerryMarigold. That's a large part of consideration as we are having a small wedding, around 18 close friends and family so I don't want anything too over the top either.

I feel so useless when I know so little 🙈

TSSDNCOP · 20/10/2018 18:43

Google Brunia OP.

Blankety30 · 20/10/2018 18:44

On a totally separate note, have a I picked a shit colour for a September wedding.?? 😂

OP posts:
TSSDNCOP · 20/10/2018 18:46

If your florist incorporated those into the bouquet you pictured and bound the stems in silver ribbon/fabric the design would become silvery.

Blankety30 · 20/10/2018 18:47

Just looked at wedding bouquets with those in @TSSDNCOP .. lovely addition! Thanks totally what I was picturing in my head. Just worried they look a bit wintery?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/10/2018 20:05

For me, the only issue would be whether grey with muted flowers might look a bit "washed out" if you get a drizzly day

I don't know what your position on colour is, but personally I'd go the other way and have a mix of vivid pinks and blues with foliage, or even just a deep, bright blue and white to "lift" it a little

MerryMarigold · 20/10/2018 20:10

For a small wedding I'd go for a simple hand tied bouquet. Eucalyptus, white roses, some of those flowers in the bouquet you liked but less 'arranged' and simpler shape.

Blankety30 · 20/10/2018 20:18

Thanks for the ideas!

My initial thought was a red wine shade, but I thought that may be wintery?

Maybe we could go silver/grey with splashes of blue?

I think I need to decide on the bridesmaid dress and other bits of colour for groom etc. Then the rest will follow. I'm just not get creative or imaginative so unsure where to begin!

Although this: goo.gl/images/7ZLR8E is just BEAUTIFUL and so simple

You can put the colour into the ribbons tying the bouquet rather than the flowers themselves. A simple white bouquet tied with pewter ribbons would look more tasteful than artificial tacky flowers.

Blue hydrangeas are lovely for bouquets, and blue larkspur should still be in season if you wanted to go for blues.

My mum is a florist, we all have a healthy phobia of artificial flowers Grin

Banana770 · 20/10/2018 20:25

Earl grey roses might work?
