Ladies & Gents?!

Or does everyone send their 8 year olds to this kind of class and I have been a negligent parent?

Sorry, I started the thread and ran away, that was very bad mannered of me! (actually it was a broadband issue...)

This thread is really interesting. My gut reaction when I came across the classes was to roll my eyes at how ridiculous the course title sounded (though I do still think that). I also thought that outsourcing basic areas of parenting had reached a new level and was baffled that parents would willing pay for something which they could easily be teaching their children themselves. It's been really interesting to read everyone's responses and I can certainly see how these classes could be beneficial for some children and that all children might benefit from being taught some of the course content by professionals in a group setting.

I actually think they're a fantastic idea. I've always been nervous in social situations and would have loved to go to something like this. Not enough of this is taught in schools or by parents and a lot of it is vitally important (ok not place settings etc but a useful thing to know anyway!)

@IStandWithPosie it is a boarding school but prep boarding

This was the show I watched :

I think the lady who came on to talk about her business is hiring space there for her classes

I've taught my children very old fashioned etiquette-y manners and behaviour. They don't have to use it, but they know how to if the circumstances suggest it would be useful. Dd is job hunting at the moment, and she admits that she has switched into "mum's boring old lectures" mode with a couple of potential employers...
