OMG surely this is a joke?

Ladies & Gents?!

Or does everyone send their 8 year olds to this kind of class and I have been a negligent parent?

OP posts:
xsahm · 18/10/2018 19:25

I don't think this went the way OP intended. I'm commenting to give it another bump because firstly I think it's a great idea and secondly because I would always rather support an original local business initiative than try to discredit it. Hope this ends up being good advertising.

CatchIt · 18/10/2018 19:31

Omg, I'd love this as an after school club.

I know there are people mocking it, but if you look at the way some adults present themselves, they eat like pigs, slurping and chewing, incapable of greeting or conversing with others. It's a horror.

Manners and etiquette are important and I really don't understand why more people don't think so.

Zoebirri · 18/10/2018 19:38

Dear Hmmwhatatodo,

Thank you for the suggestion and it is something I am considering, depending on the interest.

Our 5 and 6 week courses are under £350. We bring in specialists for each topic. Each weekly session (depending on the course) is between two and two and a half hours long. Our price includes all materials, snacks and refreshments, a full meal (always!) and Afternoon Tea at our graduation ceremony (held at leading local venues).

I hope this helps.

With very best wishes,
Zoe Birri

I would put my children on it...looks good!

Toomanycats99 · 18/10/2018 19:50

I really like the look of the one for 4-7 year olds. Some of things covered seem like they would be really beneficial.

BambooPlate · 18/10/2018 19:53

Sounds fab x

AlexaShutUp · 18/10/2018 20:06

Actually, Zoe, I think the content of what you're teaching looks really good overall. However, might I suggest that you consider re-branding it, as the little gents/little ladies could be quite off-putting for a lot of people. Alternatively, if you don't want to change the original package, you could try a tweaked version that is packaged slightly differently. I imagine there would be a market for one-day "crash" courses as well, for those who didn't want to sign up for the whole thing.

BambooPlate · 18/10/2018 20:12

I agree with AlexaShutUp . The branding sounds a tiny bit twee (sorry!) and a tiny bit sexist (ladies). But i love the content of the course and half day taster workshops would be great. I don't believe the format lends itself for after school clubs but definitely to holiday clubs.
not that the business owner asked for advice Blush

Zoebirri · 18/10/2018 20:15

Your input is greatly appreciated, BambooPlate! Input is always welcome - it means a great deal to a small and relatively new business owner like myself.

BambooPlate · 18/10/2018 20:16

Little ladies reminds me of 'little women'.

Also the age group 8-12 is not so tiny. Sorry am being picky here but think that even with clients who are into (I would be!) the course name lends itself to potential teasing /cringing.

GummyGoddess · 18/10/2018 20:16

I think it would be great for adults with autism. Knowing rules really helps and a course on how to make small talk would be brilliant.

BambooPlate · 18/10/2018 20:18

I'd love this for adults!

megletthesecond · 18/10/2018 20:23

Can someone do one of these courses in north Hampshire please? It would do my dd the world of good.

Teddy1970 · 18/10/2018 20:32

And West Sussex please!

Zoebirri · 18/10/2018 20:36

Thank you megletthesecond and Teddy1970 - we will consider these areas for the near future.

AspergersMum · 18/10/2018 20:43

Namechanged for privacy - my daughter (11) has just completed Zoe's course and she LOVED it. I have Aspergers and although I of course do my best to teach DD social niceties, I don't know the half of it myself! Also we're not originally from the UK so we might be a bit out of kilter with some of the specific manners. The stuff about online bullying, eating healthy, all that, I could explain to DD but it was so much more effective in a taught class (with posh food afterwards). Thank you @zoebirri! (mum of nut allergy girl)

serbska · 18/10/2018 20:46

Well I think that is a great course!

It really does help in life if you know the social rules society follows and can be comfortable in different situations.

Teddy1970 · 18/10/2018 20:47

Brilliant Zoebirri that would be great..I'll keep an eye out!

Zoebirri · 18/10/2018 21:07

Thank you so much, AspergersMum. I am so pleased your daughter enjoyed the course!

cherry2727 · 18/10/2018 21:09

What a brilliant idea!! I can't wait for my two year old to turn 4 to sign up!! Love it!!

cherry2727 · 18/10/2018 21:11

Can you consider Essex please ? X

Notquiteagandt · 18/10/2018 21:12

I think full day courses or camps would be a fab idea. So then if people from out of area fancied doing it. Would be more logistical.
