Harry and Meg told the family BEFORE the wedding

IdaBWells · 17/10/2018 02:10

Just been reading in the news that the couple did NOT make the baby announcement to family at the wedding, close family including Jack and Eugenie already knew. For some it was the first opportunity to congratulate them in person. That is all. No announcement was made to the guests.

They probably felt they wouldn't be able to keep it under wraps much longer and announcing the pregnancy in Oz would give them a breather and a chance for everyone in the UK to get used to the idea.

Megan has a concave stomach normally and is really, really slim. She’s definitely showing.

Riversleep · 17/10/2018 07:36

I agree Jake. The whole telling them at the wedding was an excuse to have a go at Megan. Not Harry mind. He's still the poor orphaned virgin baby who has been hoodwinked by the evil American whore actress.

MrsMiddleton · 17/10/2018 07:37

Well, no one told me and I wasn't even invited to the wedding. I had to find this out on Gransnet. Bitch

I think I could handle my stomach looking like that sans baby!

jamespond · 17/10/2018 07:57

@Mummyoflittledragon me too! 😀

IdaBWells · 17/10/2018 08:17

Yes, I have to admit I posted this tidbit when I read it because of the way so many are determined to hate Meghan or at the very least give dark ulterior motives to everything she does.

Harry chose her and from the coverage of them in Australia today they just both seemed so happy and so in love. Why she is supposed to be a narcissistic, attention-whore I really don't know.

She made some banana bread with chocolate chips last night and gave it to the farming family that they shared lunch with today and plainly that is evil.

Ida
I seeeee I am sooo not interested in idle gossip. She seems lovely. So does her mum.

TipseyTorvey · 17/10/2018 08:32

Things haven't changed that much since Wallace Simpson I guess and the fact she's not white make it even more obvious she's an attention seeker, how dare she walk around smiling and waving at people without showing any shame!

SillySallySingsSongs · 17/10/2018 08:34

The Queen and Charles especially will have known as soon as Meghan and Harry did.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2018 08:42

That independent, feminist, new sort of Royal lasted a long time, didn't it?

LongSummerDays · 17/10/2018 08:56

and a chance for everyone in the UK to get used to the idea

Royal couple are having baby. OMG why didn't they tell me? 😱😱

How will I cope? So glad they're away, gives me a chance to get my head around it. Hmm

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/10/2018 09:27

I don't get the Meghan hate.
She's an actress..... that's what she wants. Attention

Yes she's an actress but I can't imagine she enjoys being picked apart and insulted the way she is.

Some of the comments I've read on MN about her are awful. Says a lot about the people making them imo.

LongSummerDays · 17/10/2018 09:31

GreatDuck I agree.

I see a couple who are very much in love who are now expecting a baby. Good news, it won't affect me at all but always like to hear good news.

skippy67 · 17/10/2018 09:34

What are you on about Bert?
The amount of hate and spite on here towards Meghan is ridiculous.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2018 09:45

I agree. I find the attitude to Meghan on here and in the papers extraordinary, and I think it can only come from racism. However, I did have hopes of her being a bit of a disruptive, reforming influence in the royal family, particularly with her publicly stated feminist stance. I thought she might use the platform she now has. So it is deeply depressing to see her toeing the line in her dress, her behaviour and her banana bread. She has "diminished into a wife".

LampHat · 17/10/2018 09:47

@NaughtToThreeSadOnions It makes me laugh that you’ve circled where the bump is Grin Just in case we were looking for it in the wrong place!!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/10/2018 09:53

We only see the public Meghan though Bert, what goes on behind closed doors might be very different on the feminist front. She was always going to have to toe the line to a large degree due to the fact of the establishment she's now part of.

I agree though that a lot of the nastiness is down to racism although nobody will openly admit that.

Jakethekid · 17/10/2018 09:55

"Diminished into a wife"? Anyone can see that there is something different about Meghan. Harry isn't trying to be like royals before him and you can see it from a mile away. He is putting his wife and tell love he has for his wife first and you can tell they are a package, not Prince Harry and his wife.

He comes across as someone that is very supportive of her and someone that really wants the public to love her as much as he seems to. Because she made banana bread means nothing. She seems like a humanitarian as much as harry does. That has nothing to do with "wife duties". She is her own person and anyone can see this.

Jakethekid · 17/10/2018 09:56

The* not tell

IdaBWells · 17/10/2018 10:21

Jakethekid I agree, Harry seems incredibly relieved that he has someone to share his role with and will not have to do just this kind of task, basically being an ambassador for the UK, representing the Queen, alone, which must be very daunting. He seems relieved and relaxed and as much as some people may detest the fact she was an actress, it means she’s a pro at the job. If the stories are true, previous girlfriends did not want to marry Harry precisely because they would be expected to be on a charm offensive 24/7 for the rest of their lives. Who can blame them?

While Meghan is very comfortable with public speaking, she is also calm and not stressed when they are constantly the center of attention and have to make what looks like “natural” banter with strangers. Meghan and Harry together put people at ease and help them relax, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Today when they met the students on the tarmac they shook hands and talked to every single kid. Then they were very relaxed and comfortable talking to Luke the 5 yr old with Downs. I am not suggesting their saints. Quite the opposite they are professionals at always looking interested and genuine no matter what the occasion. I do think they are carving out a new way to be royal, they will very much be a partnership I think. Harry has no problem sharing the limelight, unlike Charles for example.

And seeing how much vitriol Meghan receives I don’t think she can step out and show her true thoughts on feminism, at not least right away. As time goes on and they are more established I think that will come.

Harry has no problem sharing the limelight, unlike Charles for example.

Completely different roles in life. Charles was brought up knowing he will be king as was William. Harry was brought up with more 'freedom' as he isn't going to be.

IdaBWells · 17/10/2018 10:41

It’s true but Charles was not gracious when Diana was immediately massively popular. He didn’t have the foresight or maturity to see what a massive asset she could be. She desperately needed support and really she could have had some media training and other help, but instead her husband resented her popularity.

So 30 years later you would hope a professional, older woman (i.e not 19) with a lot of experience with media and p.r. would be a perfect fit for the role and to withstand the pressure and intense scrutiny. Somehow though some people seem to find her experience vulgar and irritating and so call her a narcissist.

It just seems you can’t get it right as a royal wife. Although ever since Meghan appeared on the scene SUDDENLY Kate has been canonized. Meghan is constantly compared negatively to Kate.

OP posts:
Jakethekid · 17/10/2018 10:43

From all the pictures she appears to get on very well with senior royals (not that a picture can always show the truth). There's some lovely smiley pictures of her and the Queen.

skippy67 · 17/10/2018 10:52

Yes, all of a sudden Kate is regal, classy, always gets it right etc, as opposed to "brash attention seeking Meghan".

MonteCarla · 17/10/2018 10:55

You haven’t a clue either way OP

Hmm
