I have ‘ the girls’ coming round at the weekend for a meal and a drink.
I’m not a bad cook- I have done it professionally.
I have been through my books and picked what I thought was a really nice seasonal menu......but. ..............
I think it might be a bit ‘showey offey’ and I don’t want to not get invited to theirs because they feel intimidated.
So, if you were coming to my house for a piss up and a meal what would you want to eat? Drinks wise I’ve got most everything so all tastes / meals can be matched with drinks.

If any of you are in Yorkshire of course you are welcome.

For clarification.......when we lived in a different country we were part of a group of people . We used to go out, go to each other’s houses , have card tournaments, and cook - all different levels of cooking - for each other ie formal, bbq, Mexican nights etc. Two of the couples wouldn’t do ‘ formal ‘ nights because they felt my cooking was way above their standard and they were embarrassed. It didn’t bother me what they made - hell, I’m happy with cheese and biscuits and a big bowl,of ice cream - but it mattered to them. I’ve always worried since then that people would be intimidated and think i was showing off. I. not, i just enjoy cooking and I love to see people’s faces when they eat my food. So purple and morello it DOES happen and it DOES happen more than once. Just because neither of you couldnt imagine some people being insecure about their cooking skills does not mean that it doesn’t happen.

Yes bonnieF- just message me!
biscuitmilionaire - i have written down your suggestion in my cooking book to use next spring.

Happens to a relative of mind all the time, he’s a trained chef, still works in a field connected to fine dining and is a really fantastic cook. As a couple they like simple home cooked food but several of their friends insist on taking them to restaurants when it’s their turn to host because, by their own admission, they feel intimidated cooking for them. So yes absolutely this is a thing!!

Ok, it happens! Still doesn’t mean Purple was Being mean to you though.

I take it you don't have 'the girls' round too often? When I meet up with friends it's literally an abundance of prosecco, crisps and dips!

Your food sounds lovely but I'd rather get stuck into the drink than get too full from loads of food. That really is just me though! Enjoy 😃

Right!
Who wants to start a friends group where we cook yummy meals - of all different levels of capability- for each other!!

Storm4star and Athena51 thank you for being so kind about my food choices. If you live in the north east feel free to pm me! I’m always happy to cook!
