To wish I didn't have such a delicate constitution

Anyone else? I seem to have a delicate constitution and it's so annoying! Some days I get diarrhoea and have no idea what's caused it! I can barely drink as it makes me so light headed. I need alot of sleep aswell! I've always been like this and it's crap

Me too! Just feel like a weakling tbh. Even a bad cold can put me on my back for days.

FurryAndObnoxious · 14/10/2018 11:53

I've got a high pain tolerance though! It's since I've had DS my constitution is awful

Have you actually seen a doctor about this?

Skittlesandbeer · 14/10/2018 12:24

My bff has always joked that I have ‘galloping consumption’ like in 18th century novels! Except that I’d actually have have died several times over back then, without modern meds.

If there’s a sniffle going around, I end up with pneumonia. If it’s a d&v bug, I’m hugging the bathroom floor for days.

Everyone else’s immune system seems to get them back on their feet so much quicker. I’m so used to being really poorly that I’ve become quite resigned. I feel your pain.

RickOShay · 14/10/2018 12:27

Same! My sister and I always say we would be long dead by now if we’d lived in another era, unless we were Victorian ladies who lay on a chaise longue all day, reading novels and giving the cook the dinner menu Grin

primoestate · 14/10/2018 12:31

This is me too. Annoys the life out of me and also am embarrassed that I get sick much, much more often than my peers. And I too have a high pain threshold so it's not like I'm a wimp.

FurryAndObnoxious · 14/10/2018 15:40

I do have ibs and have seen the GP but despite several diet changes etc nothing works

FurryAndObnoxious · 14/10/2018 20:35

I've also always been a very tried person too.

Have you ever been tested for coeliac disease?

tectonicplates · 14/10/2018 22:02

I've had hypnotherapy for IBS, which was very helpful.

But as above, have you been tested for coeliac disease? Or inflammatory bowel disease?

Bouchie · 14/10/2018 22:04

try FODMAP changed my life.

FurryAndObnoxious · 14/10/2018 22:31

I've been tested for coealiac and inflammation via a stool sample and blood tests. Tried FODMAP with limited results. I struggle with garlic terribly

Hypnotherapy for ibs?!? how does that work?

OP posts:
FurryAndObnoxious · 15/10/2018 10:02

I mean surely it's not normal to feel this bad ?

OP posts:
RickOShay · 15/10/2018 11:48

I also have a high pain threshold. Seems like a theme.

FurryAndObnoxious · 15/10/2018 12:13

I was 8cm when I got to the hospital with DS. My labour was like ibs pain I wasn't overly bothered by it

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 15/10/2018 13:45

I have diarrhea most mornings and no idea why. I am also a very tired person. I can lead a full life but only if I go to bed at 9pm and get 8 hours sleep otherwise I am dead by Friday.

I look at people burning the candle at both ends (my DH, for example, is always out late in the pub and then up early for work will no ill effect) and wonder how they do it.

BasinHaircut · 15/10/2018 14:16

Yep have to be in bed by 10 too. Up at 6-ish.

I’ve had all of the tests and investigations and there is nothing wrong with me. My iron is a bit on the low side of normal but that’s it.

For me it’s stress and anxiety related but not entirely, but as you can imagine it’s a viscous circle of one causing the other.

tectonicplates · 15/10/2018 14:24

Hypnotherapy for ibs?!? how does that work?

Because hypnotherapy helps with all sorts of things related to stress and anxiety. So if your IBS is caused or exacerbate by stress, then it helps calm everything down.

If, however, you suspect that it's caused by certain foods but you can't work out what, then you may be better off seeing a dietician.

tectonicplates · 15/10/2018 14:25

Have you ever had any blood in the loo though? Because if you have, you might need to be treated for Crohn's or Celiac disease.

FurryAndObnoxious · 15/10/2018 17:47

Never any blood thank God. it's worse during ovulation and periods aswell so I think my pcos hormones might have a role
