Hi,
Can you have a look at this for me and tell me what you think? I'd love an instant pot, but can't quite run to it. Does this look the same? I looked at a pressure king pro, too...

Huh? Look at what?

DBN1 · 10/10/2018 12:44

Yes OP, its the same. I have one and it's brilliant....... Grin

DBN1, you've made up my mind.

I've got a pressure king pro and like it. It was 60 quid at argos

picklemepopcorn · 10/10/2018 14:54

Oopsy, how do you find the nonstick lining? It's the thing that puts me off. It always goes on my rice cookers.

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 10/10/2018 16:09

I'm looking at the pressure king, lots of positive reviews but also lots of people saying the non stick peels.

Hoe much is an instant pot? About £120? We bought one last year when my brother spotted it as an Amazon Daily Deal or Black Friday offer, it was half price.

I love it. Honestly, I'd probably wait and watch the sales.

DBN1 · 10/10/2018 16:45

DBN1, you've made up my mind I was joking as there was no photo or link! Grin
For what its worth, I've got 2 old school stove-top pressure cookers and love them. I cannot comment on these new fangled electric ones Smile

picklemepopcorn · 10/10/2018 17:25

I know DBN, it amused me. I've an old school one, and a rice cooker, and a slow cooker. I believe I could get rid of all three...

But I'd prefer the instant pot's inner pot I think.

Meet0nTheIedge · 10/10/2018 17:33

I've got an IP. The pot itself cleans really easily even on the rare occasions I've burnt something on. I wouldn't fancy a non-stick lining. Two other issues with the Wilko one - no yogurt function (brilliant not only for yogurt but for proving dough) and the real deal-breaker, no sauté function. I use sauté all the time to brown meat, soften onions, reduce sauces to thicken, make jam and chutney. So essentially this one is just a pressure cooker but the IP does so much more.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 10/10/2018 17:38

I have an IP too, and just recently got rid of my slow cooker and steamer because they haven't been touched really since I got the IP

I don't think I have anything nonstick I really do not like it one bit.

I might even buy another inner pot as I use it so much.

I'd be really worried abut the nonstick and then not being able to get a replacement inner.

picklemepopcorn · 10/10/2018 18:07

Right, that's really helpful. I won't fall for the Wilco one, won't succumb to the pressure king pro... I'll hang out for the instant pot.

It's a shame extra inner pots aren't available without the teflon. IP do a ceramic coated inner which I'd get as my second pot (should I ever get my first!).

I just got the (non stick) Charles Jacobs one - £50, 8L, 17 functions including yoghurt. I think it's brilliant.

00100001 · 10/10/2018 18:11

I love my pressure cooker, chucked out the slow cooker years ago!

picklemepopcorn · 10/10/2018 19:01

That sounds good, Tea. I wonder if it is compatible with an IP inner?

OP posts:
teawamutu · 10/10/2018 20:36

I've been wondering that too - I bought two official IP rubber seals at the weekend so I could have non-savoury smelling spares for yoghurt and sweet things and they fit perfectly - but obv that's just risking a tenner.

guessmyusername · 10/10/2018 20:57

If the price tag on the IP puts you off, watch out for the special deals on Amazon. I got mine in black friday deal 2 years ago for less than half price!

Meet0nTheIedge · 10/10/2018 21:10

Yes, I got mine then too £69.99. However last year they sold out all over Europe and there were no Black Friday deals. Worth watching on CamelCamelCamel.

picklemepopcorn · 10/10/2018 22:29

Ooh yes, camel camel camel. I've not done that before

OP posts:
SciFiFan2015 · 10/10/2018 22:33

I've been debating the IP versus pressure king pro for over a year now. It's the Teflon lining that puts me off @teawamutu - could you link to one you mention please? I'm properly intrigued!

teawamutu · 11/10/2018 06:51

@SciFiFan2015 here you go:
Charles Jacobs Large 8 Litre 7in1 Electric Pressure Cooker - Brushed Stainless Steel - 17 Programs www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B018KB9JAW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_lsUVBb6JEMTZC?tag=mumsnetforum-21

picklemepopcorn · 11/10/2018 07:58

It does have the teflon lining though. I find it goes really fast. I'm waiting for an IP. I wonder why the teflon lining is used so much? Maybe the pan needs to be heavier if it isn't lined.

I put an extra liner in my rice pot to protect it, but they still tend to peel after about a year.
