Hi,
Can you have a look at this for me and tell me what you think? I'd love an instant pot, but can't quite run to it. Does this look the same? I looked at a pressure king pro, too...

I wish they do a normal pot in the pressure king pro. I guess I'd better wait for the IP too. Thanks for the link.

Does anyone know if an IP inner pot would fit in a different brand of pressure cooker???
Trying to come up with a cunning plan...

I've got a PKP with just a copper pot inside (argos £50, 6l)
It's replaced my slow cooker and I love it. I don't think it's non stick because I have burnt things in it

I use it 2-3 times a week to cook frozen meat - chicken breasts from freezer to plate in 15 mins!

Also the sauté function and a slow cooked style stew in half an hour, the sautéing means it can all be done in the same pot so less washing up!

@SciFiFan2015 I'm considering measuring v carefully, ordering one and trying it myself.
IP experts, what's the worst that could happen do you think...?

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 11/10/2018 09:40

I'd be wary of swapping inner pots because of the pressure thing

The pots are all designed to work under pressure, with the bottom of the pot flexing to activate the heat and pressure so the temperature/pressure doesn't get to be unsafe, and if you are swapping part of that for something else I can't see that any failsafe systems will work properly.

It's all a bit more complicated than using a different lid on a saucepan, or a not quite fitting dish in slow cooker.

I might try the PKP from Argos- it has a 2 year guarantee, so if that covers the lining of the pot...

@picklemepopcorn
Really sorry, only just noticed you'd asked me a question.
Had no problems with the non stick pot so far but haven't had it that long so I suppose only time with tell.

picklemepopcorn · 16/10/2018 12:47

I'm being hopelessly indecisive... I think I'll wait for Black Friday, and if I don't get one I'll get the PKP. At least you can get extra pots if the first one does peel.

I had a PKP, which I loved initially but it fell to pieces within 6 months, and two of the settings (keep warm and reheat) didn’t work. I also found it a pain in the bum that you can’t sauté for more than 3 minutes without having to restart the programme.

I was able to return it to Argos because of the faults, and I got an Instant Pot instead. It feels much better built and I like the flexibility of much longer sauté time and a choice of heat levels for sautéing.

My Charles Jacobs has the same pot dimensions and indentation as the IP. Still considering trying a stainless steel ip pot.
