Does anyone else have a tumble drier that tells lies?

Cupboard dry my shiny red arse.

Grumble.

Yes! Also 'iron' dry which appears to mean wringing wet?!

sandgrown · 06/10/2018 07:13

Ha ha mine too

kaytee87 · 06/10/2018 07:13

Bosch condenser by any chance? My mum has one it's rubbish.
I have a vented drier and its a million times better.

LEMtheoriginal · 06/10/2018 07:14

LTB!

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 06/10/2018 07:15

Yes. I feel exactly the same about cupboard dry. I always end up repeating the cycle again Confused

Blackoutblinds · 06/10/2018 07:16

I walk past and go “you fucking liar” and press the button again.

Sometimes I even say it out loud Blush

Yes, the only cycle that actually dries the clothes to an acceptable level is extra cupboard dry.
But another lie it tells is how long it’ll take. extra cupboard dry has a starting time of 2 hours 45 mins iirc, but only actually takes about an hour, so it redeems itself on that basis.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 06/10/2018 07:22

My washing machine is a lying tow-rag. One minute it tells me it’s got 7 minutes left to go; the next it’s changed it’s mind and carries on for 20. Bastard.

Blackoutblinds · 06/10/2018 07:22

So washing machines lie too?

Bastards.

OP posts:
BikeRunSki · 06/10/2018 07:27

I cured my tumble dryer of lying when I realised that i’m only meant to put in half as much as in the washing machine. Check the recommended load size for your dryer, it’s prob my only half that of your WM.

lornathewizzard · 06/10/2018 07:29

Yeah I always put mine on an extra 20mins once it's 'finished'

Blackoutblinds · 06/10/2018 07:30

Oh no Bike how very DARE you suggest such a thing. It’s an 8kg. My washer is a 7kg.

I did used to have a micro dryer but I donated it to DS (And didn’t tell him it would crease all his double duvets to fuck. Yes. I am that evil.)

LTB! That cockwomble will never change.

Start getting your ducks in a row...

1lov3comps · 06/10/2018 07:32

Oh my god, I'm so delighted to have found this thread!!! We got a tumble drier about 6 months ago after our last one broke 3 (long) years ago and it has these settings and they are complete bollocks!
DH is always getting on my case about how I have it on Extra Dry all the time and I'm wasting energy - sick of explaining to him that the stupid thing's idea of extra dry is very different to mine!

Ignoramusgiganticus · 06/10/2018 07:34

My tumble dryer is as honest as the day is long. I don't know how it puts up with its next door neighbour though. The washing machine often tells porkies and is constantly changing its mind. It doesn't make for good neighbourly relations as the poor tumble drier is often kept on tenterhooks waiting for the washing machine to make its mind up. I'm sure there are often words!

CherryPavlova · 06/10/2018 07:34

No, ours is entirely honest but then it’s about 15 years old and has none of those fancy settings. We know that if we put a load in it will take (as the manual dial says) about three hours to dry anything.

Blackoutblinds · 06/10/2018 07:36

I miss the really simple drier I had that had two heat settings and a timer dial. It never lied.

OP posts:
DinosApple · 06/10/2018 07:37

My washing machine floods every fucking time, the timer is bust too. The dryer is the sort that could burst into flames. It's neither use not ornament as I won't risk it. And yes it doesn't/didnt dry properly anyway. Angry

We're finally at the stage where we can afford to replace them. Ho-bloody-rray.

DinosApple · 06/10/2018 07:40

I've heard the new ones aren't as good as those built 15 years ago though.

I don't want fancy pants app connectivity. I want to turn it on and for it to do it's job!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 06/10/2018 07:54

My washing machine lies too. I pass it and it says 2 minutes left so I think, ah might as well hang around and sort the washing as soon as it finishes instead of leaving it all day for a short while, 20mins later the bastarding thing is still spinning.

MigGril · 06/10/2018 08:02

Oh imagine if they could talk like the toaster on Red Dwarf. I'm sure mine would constantly argue with me that the washing was dry. No it's NOT, anyway the sensor has gone on mine I'm considering replacing it with a simple model with a timer and heat setting. You can still get them and they are cheap.

Windgate · 06/10/2018 08:04

DM's Bosch condenser dryer is a consummate liar. Cupboard dry - nope just hot and damp

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 06/10/2018 08:06

My washing machine & tumble dryer lie all the time. I’m always putting an extra 20 minutes session on my dryer. Yesterday I put a load in the machine on speed perfect. 38 minutes it said. 1 hour later & it was still going. Liar.

shutupandgotosleep · 06/10/2018 08:06

My old one was spot on. Sensor actually worked and you knew that unless it was a really thick bathmat the clothes would actually come out dry.

Unfortunately it died a death and now the one I have is alright but if it's a bigger load/towels I often have to run it twice. I also like crisp dry washing.

AFistfulofDolores1 · 06/10/2018 08:09

So glad it isn't just me. My dryer is a lying liar. I now don't use any of the "sensor" drying modes at all, and just whack it on for 60 minutes on either normal or cooler. Much better!
