I have just been turned away from a show. The lady on the door scanned my ticket and it made a buzz noise and a big red X came up...my ticket is for NEXT FRIDAY. Ffs. Such a Muppet. Was looking forward to it as well!

She did point out at least I'm a week early not late!

Anyone done similar?

Yes I was going to the gym last week when work phoned to ask where I was!

MikeUniformMike · 05/10/2018 20:09

Yes. Interview and hairdresser. One week early.

MirandaWest · 05/10/2018 20:09

Was taking DD to the orthodontist last year and we got stuck in traffic. Phoned up to say we’d be late and she said the appointment was the Next day. Still had to take Dd to school (late) and then take her the next day...

MirandaWest · 05/10/2018 20:10

Have been to hairdresser a week early as well...

TheHuffAndPuffALot · 05/10/2018 20:11

Kind of.
Coming home from travelling around Australia, my parents were due to meet me at the airport. Except the time difference meant I was flying in a day earlier than expected. This didn't click until I was almost back in the UK!

donajimena · 05/10/2018 20:11

I know someone who turned up to a concert a YEAR early. It was a huge act hence the very advance booking.
I've turned up to school on an inset day with two puzzled looking children. Twice. Blush

Fooferella · 05/10/2018 20:12

Yes. Showed up a day late for a flight. Had to wait on standby for 6 hrs and pay an extra $100CAN for the privilege and then not get my luggage until the next day. Numpty!

earlybirdhasanap · 05/10/2018 20:13

I once turned up to baby clinic a day early. I sat there for half an hour in a dark quiet room wondering why they hadn't started setting up yet until a member of staff walked past the room and enlightened me.

Watto1 · 05/10/2018 20:13

I turned up at work the day after Boxing Day to find it closed. We actually reopened after the Christmas break the following dayBlush

spiderlight · 05/10/2018 20:14

Turned up for a hospital appointment at the correct time, on the correct day....unfortunately a month late. I was mortified. I'd somehow written it on the wrong month in my calendar when the letter arrived, and then not looked at the letter again. I felt so bad about the wasted resources, never mind that DH and I had both had to take half a day off work.

Turned up to collect a friend's daughter from a school carol concert rehearsal at a church an hour early without realising. Slipped in at the back, wondered why she was mouthing 'What are you doing here??' at me, wondered why they were over-running, gradually realised that there were no other parents there.... Blush Styled it out though - 'Oh, I just wanted to hear you sing!'

PatPhelansRedVan · 05/10/2018 20:15

This is making me.feel better.

I should have double checked I just had it on my head it was Fri and he is on this Fri...but also next Fri! And I got an email this morning saying "before you attend this event here is some information" so had no reason to doubt my mind!

I was brought out for lunch for Mother's Day. Was very impressed at DH getting a table (DC's were small at the time) as I expected restaurant to be booked up. DC's gave me a lovely card and at that I realised we were a week early. I pretended it was my birthday to cover up as I felt the amused stares of the people at the next table Blush

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/10/2018 20:16

DH and I went to one of his oncology appointments a month early. Wasn't until the receptionist couldn't find his appointment in the day list that we realised Blush

Eminybob · 05/10/2018 20:17

I missed a flight by a whole day once as I got the day wrong.
A work colleague did the same thing but the flights were booked for a whole month later! (Her holiday accommodation was not though and she needed to be back at work so had to pay a lot of money to get the best flight home)

missbattenburg · 05/10/2018 20:17

Yes!

Whilst in Nepal with family, including my father who has always had a massive interest in Everest, we booked a flight around the Himalayas - you fly over them at a low height so you can see them all. He was so excited and it was to be a highlight of the trip.

We turned up to find out we'd actually booked for the previous day and missed it!

I have never seen my dad look so dejected and disappointed. It was heartbreaking.

Massive big up to Buddha Air. When I explained it to their customer services, they offered us tickets for the following day for free (well, for no more than we'd already paid).

The view was phenomenal and his face when he saw Everest for the first time was a real treat!

Just want to say again - Buddha Air rock.

ChicagoLil · 05/10/2018 20:17

Two things:

  1. Miranda Hart tour. Bought the tickets but forgot it was for the following year

2). Picked up my DD from a transatlantic flight. When are you coming back? I asked? 23rd she said. So I was there at Heathrow on 23rd but she hadn't taken off yet.

CleverQuacks · 05/10/2018 20:22

Took my son (10 years old) to summer camp a day early. It was only as we pulled into the car park and he piped up “why does the form say Sunday??” That I realised and had to take him home again.

IntentsAndPorpoises · 05/10/2018 20:24

I've taken the kids to a birthday party a day early. Thing is there was a kids party going on (church hall) and it took a minute or two to realise. And then slink out.

Most recently I took dc for an eye test a week early. Waited for ages until the nice woman came and told us, as she couldn't find the appointment details.

EastMidsGPs · 05/10/2018 20:25

We turned up to a what was supposed to be a very formal works national do at which DH was being given an award. So new posh dress, suit for him, hair do, nails, over night stay at swanky hotel.
We walked towards the door of the conference room and stopped to look at the seating plan. We werr surprised to find our names missing so began to go through the door to find DH's colleagues. Stopped by a surly doorman, he couldn't find us on the guest list and got a bit 'assertive' with us as he obviously thought we were gatecrashers.
DH finally produced his gold edged invite .... doorman read it, handed it back and suggested we check the date. We were a week early Blush

anothermnname · 05/10/2018 20:26

Yep! At the airport! Ticket was booked for same day/time but just the week after! (It was my return flight!) luckily I was staying with family so I had to call them to come
Back and collect me and the kids! DH was not impressed i had messed up the bookings as DD was at home with him and he had to take an extra week off work last minute! 🙈

I have also turned up the wrong week at the dentist! That was quite embarrassing!

fairgroundsnack · 05/10/2018 20:27

My parents went to the ballet a day early - they arrived at the theatre a bit late, dashed in, person on the door didn’t notice and were busily heading through the people in the row of seats ready to tell off the person sitting in their seats.... when my mum noticed it! She’d been spotted in the foyer by a colleague who asked her the next day if she’d enjoyed it and she just styled it out...

Yogagirl123 · 05/10/2018 20:28

Many times! I have turned up at school with my DS’ in school uniform on inset days.

fairgroundsnack · 05/10/2018 20:28

I’ve also turned up at the dentist a week early, having collected 2 kids from 2 different schools early, with a newborn. When the receptionist told me I cried!

MrsExpo · 05/10/2018 20:28

I once got out of bed as usual on a drab Monday morning and dragged my self off to work, only to discover it was bank holiday Monday. Bit of a result though, as I some people were working that day for double time and a day off in lieu to finish an urgent big job, but someone hadn’t turned in, so I stayed and worked the day for the extra money. Smile

TheHobbitMum · 05/10/2018 20:29

I sent DH & 2 DDs to the cinema a day early, I had free tickets for a film and sent him on his way (18miles each way) and when he got there it was for the Sunday not Saturday oops! He had to then buy tickets for a different film so not to disappoint DDs Grin
Not quite to cheap day out it was supposed to be!
