Have you ever turned up on the wrong day for something?

I have just been turned away from a show. The lady on the door scanned my ticket and it made a buzz noise and a big red X came up...my ticket is for NEXT FRIDAY. Ffs. Such a Muppet. Was looking forward to it as well!

She did point out at least I'm a week early not late!

Anyone done similar?

Yep done the same OP. Booked theatre tickets for a show we really wanted to see but it had sold out so we booked to see another one the following week. Trouble was we'd put it in our diaries for the week we wanted as that was the date we'd originally wanted. Roll on several months and I've booked the evening off work and the theatre attendant just glances at our tickets and we settle down in our seats to see minutes later a couple look panicked at "their" seats being occupied. We suddenly realise our faux pas and the neighbouring theatre goers are looking disapproving at us youngsters trying it on Blush

Amazing thing is we saw two empty seats elsewhere and hung about until the show started then slunk into them and saw what we actually wanted to see but I couldn't enjoy it as much as my heart was thumping. We then went the following week and saw the one we'd actually booked so had to ask for another evening off work.

Also done the transatlantic flight time and said I'd be back a day earlier than actually was and panicked my family and boyfriend.

DH has got many many hair appointments wrong as goes regularly but his diary is such a mess that the days all blend into each other.

I turned up twice running a week early to ds' ent appointments. I'd taken him out of school and everything. I had to make up that they hadn't managed to do all the tests and needed him to come back Grin

When dd1 was in year 1 we managed to get a whole group turning up early. I'd misread the invite and said to dd1 "X's party tonight". At school she told everyone, and was convincing enough that half the children persuaded their parents to turn up. So there were 6 of us all looking at each other, thinking that if others had turned up, it must be right. Blush

Regularly mess up hair and beautician appointments by going early or missing them.

Have taken DD to a party a day early - not too bad as could take her again the next day.

Went to the theatre a whole week late - taking DD to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Our supposed seats in the gods were occupied but they found us seats in the stalls so we actually got a upgrade thanks to my disorganisation. Think having small horrified child helped here....

I booked car hire with a return of the car at 8am instead of pm. The cost of the extra day at the last minute was eye watering.

Samcro · 05/10/2018 23:32

i turned up at the hairdressers and apologised for being early ( been using them for years so know him well) he laughed and said no your late......turned out I was a day late.

Darkestnight · 06/10/2018 00:01

Yes last week at my daughters therapy... We turned up a month early. But the funny thing was the therapist had a cancellation and fitted us in... Was meant to be I think Grin

Giggorata · 06/10/2018 05:03

So glad it's not just me.. turned up at the Swansea-Cork ferry a day early, with fully laden car, wondering why the gates were closed.

I've gone to work about three times and then found it's a bank holiday.

Arrived at Manchester from a transatlantic flight, only to discover the taxi bus I’d booked to take me the 150 miles home had been for the day before.

Countless times turned up a day or a week early at people's houses, or even worse, answered the door in pyjamas, clutching book and hot chocolate, to find expectant friends waving wine bottles and flowers. Blush

Went to a hospital appointment on 13th January. Appointment was really on 31st January. Hospital was a two hour drive from my home.

Turned up to DA's friend's birthday party at a soft play a day early.

I didn't realise we'd got the date wrong because there was a child with the same name as DS's friend having their party at the venue so we actually went into that party and I started chatting to some mums before DS (age 6) said 'erm mummy these aren't my friends '

😳

This thread has give. me the absolute fear andnive just trawled my emails to confirm the dates for 3 upcoming events!

Bumpinthenight · 07/10/2018 07:26

I booked de lux tickets at the cinema for 9pm.
We got into town early so went for dinner. The restaurant was unusually efficient so to kill more time before the film we had dessert.
Arrived at the cinema to find that I had booked for the previous night! So not only did we have to buy more tickets we had also bought dinner and dessert and got home an hour after we could have done!

Oh no! Grin

doodlejump1980 · 07/10/2018 08:15

Yup. I didn’t go to a wedding (evening) reception as I had tickets to see Sarah Millican. Turned up at the theatre a YEAR early. Oops. Didn’t go to the wedding either. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I almost missed an important conference I'd been invited to. The hospital my Ds2 attended was paying for my hotel. Had asked a colleague to cover my shift. Saw her in the shop that morning and asked if she was still OK for tomorrow. She replied that I'd asked her to cover today. Cue me charging home to check the info id been sent. Yup I was going that day for conference the next day. Had to ring Mum to take me to the station....

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/10/2018 08:23

I went into work on my rostered day off and did a whole shift. My boss didn't realise my mistake either until the end of the day when she started working on the following weeks rosters and opened up the spreadsheet. Luckily I was able to claim it as overtime and I had been needed (worked on an emergency helpline for a utility company).

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/10/2018 08:26

After cancelled flights earlier in the year due to The Beast From The East. We finally arrived at our hotel in Jersey. A much needed long weekend, just the two of us in a luxury hotel.
Upon arrival we found out that the rescheduled dates were wrong and our room was booked for us in two weeks time.
The owner of the hotel sat us down on the veranda overlooking the bay and paractically threw a bottle of prosecco at us whilst she tried to sort it.
We ended up in a private apartment with a pool all for the price of £150 a night!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/10/2018 08:27

I’m rather liking the word ‘paractically’ rather than practically. Grin

Galvantula · 07/10/2018 08:30

My first job interview. I was sure she'd said Tuesday.

Anyway one of us got it wrong, but I still got the job 😄

Chocolatecake12 · 07/10/2018 08:31

I took my ds to a scout event at 7am on a Saturday morning thinking that at least tomorrow I can have a lie in. Nope! I was a day early and the event was on the Sunday.
I’ve also turned up at school on an inset day! Oh the shame!!

GetSchwifty · 07/10/2018 08:32

We turned up a day early for a flight home once. We were just glad we hadn’t missed it!
I took my son for some vaccinations and waited patiently for half an hour before asking at reception how much longer it would be. I had missed his appointment by a couple of days!

Pinkprincess1978 · 07/10/2018 08:45

Yes a few months ago I turned up for my dentist appointment 24 hours early. But better to be early than late 😂

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 07/10/2018 09:10

I turned up an hour and a half late for DD's flu vaccination last year. I'd made several appointments at the same time, got in a muddle and written DD's on the calendar wrong. Most frustratingly, we'd been early that morning so were playing in the park opposite the medical centre when we were supposed to be in the appointment. I had to rebook and take another day off work a fortnight later.

scrivette · 07/10/2018 09:11

DH and DS have just got back from Church Parade... I sent them there an hour early so we have to go again shortly Blush

BalloonSlayer · 07/10/2018 09:28

Took the DCs for their yearly dental checkup.

Receptionit couldn't find the appointment anywhere on the system.

Then she said "but you had one one this day last year . . . but you didn't turn up."

Blush

I am not the best timekeeper but that's the first time I have ever been a YEAR late for something.
