My date suddenly started singing at the top of his lungs

I went out on a first date yesterday night with a man met on OLD.

I feel like he made such a fuss to organise what he thought was “the perfect date”. He took me to a park to show me a romantic spot (he even said he had planned the stroll from where we met to the park, in order to ensure the stroll was scenic and romantic enough!). After drinks and dinner, he insisted on taking me to a romantic belvedere terrace to show me the view, even though I said I was feeling cold.

Once we get to the belvedere, suddenly the guy starts singing “Bella Notte” from the Lady and the Tramp. Properly singing at the top of his lungs, like he was the protagonist of a musical. He then insisted I should sing with him too, and he got visibly disappointed when I said I can’t really sing. He kept singing for a solid 5 minutes and attempted a few dance moves too, while people nearby were staring at us in disbelief.

I genuinely feel like I should delete all dating apps and resign myself to a life of singledom, if this is the alternative

How was his company apart from him trying too hard?

How good was his voice?

My DDs exbf had a bit of a habit of bursting in to song, or just one random line, or a quick scale but she had met him through musical interests and he was at music college training to be an opera singer so it wasn’t entirely odd - it just happened sometimes because he was going over a piece in his head and forgot his surroundings. He responded well to a nudge or a gentle kick, though.

Unless you, and everyone else around had gasped in wonder at the beauty of his rendition, then this date sounded very peculiar. And even then it would have been bizarre.

OP purely out of interest, how old was your date? just trying to get an idea of perhaps this was just youthful exuberance, it might even sound cute.

This why I never ever ever ever go for anything but a coffee somewhere as a first date.

I'd have fled at the first opportunity. I really cannot bear people singing randomly. It makes my skin crawl.

Tbf though my flight response is crazy, on my first date with my dh he went in for a hug and I bolted out of fear lol
