What to do in Blackpool?

Spending the weekend in Blackpool and have no plans for the Monday, so asked the 13 year old to take a look online and pick something. Unfortunately, she's so laid back and just says "dunno", so it looks like I'm going to have to pick.

We already have plans for the Pleasure Beach, tram ride, arcades, prom.

We have....
Tower -
Madame Tussauds - kids seem quite interested in this but neither are particularly clued up about famous/well known people so not sure how much they will 'get'?
Zoo -

Which would you do? Any further suggestions?

We loved the dungeons. Also the tower- spent ages up there looking over the street scene.

troodiedoo · 02/10/2018 17:44

Blackpool when lumies are on is the most magical place on earth. have a great time OP

Went about 18 months ago and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the prom was with sculptures etc.
The drunks and stag and hen parties were easily avoided. The only problem we found was finding a decent family friendly place to eat so it was McDonald’s one night and room service the other.
We did the Pleasure Beach for two days (tickets with the hotel deal), the tower and the water park.
If we’d had more time we might have gone on the piers, where there are more rides if you’ve not had enough at the Pleasure Beach, or to Stanley Park, or to Lytham.
Have a lovely time.

That’s a shame papergirl there are so many family friendly restaurants and pubs in Blackpool. Many in the town centre and even more if you travel out from the centre a little.

My favourite place to eat in the Town Centre is the West Ciat Rock Cafe. It’s upstairs across from the Winter Gardens. Amazing American diner style food and get a window seat for some fun people watching. There so many other family friendly eating places though it’s often hard to choose.

Ascent Trampoline Park, Ice Skating at the Pleasure Beach (or there might be a show on there), The Grand Theatre, The Sandcastle, ride in a Cinderella carriage along the Prom. There's a nice restaurant next to the Wedding Chapel called Beach House Cafe.

Whojimawhatsit · 02/10/2018 18:26

That’s should say West Coast Rock Cafe ... I give up on my phone tonight Grin

TrueLoveWays · 02/10/2018 18:34

Lots to do
Over the summer we have done Sea Life and Madam Tussaurds kids loved both
We did circus
Tower jungle Jim

We didn't see any couples having sex and the kids had a great time

Papergirl1968 · 02/10/2018 18:52

Thanks for the recommendations for the family eating places - will look out for those next time we go.

jmh740 · 02/10/2018 18:54

I stayed overnight with ds8 this year and didn't see anything horrific, were going this Friday to see the fireworks. Tussauds is worth a visit there's the sea life centre, we love the zoo, mine love coral island, there's plenty of places to eat we love pizza, pizza hut pizza express and bella Italia are all on church st so is the Chinese buffet.

Paradyning · 02/10/2018 18:55

Stanley park

susurration · 02/10/2018 18:56

If you're going fairly soon, the illumination are on, so you could take a tram from one end to the other to see them.

susurration · 02/10/2018 18:57

At night obviously.

Paradyning · 02/10/2018 18:57

Aw Bispham Where I was born! Did all the haters op and have a great time

Paradyning · 02/10/2018 18:57

YeTalkShiteHen · 02/10/2018 18:59

You’ve also missed the Scottish September weekend which means it won’t be full of my pissed up fellow Scots (who are usually the ones that lower the tone in Blackpool)

Delatron · 02/10/2018 19:00

This quote made me laugh I’ve hardly ever seen anyone shagging in the streets

So you have then?!

YeTalkShiteHen · 02/10/2018 19:00

Only time I’ve ever seen anyone shagging in public was at Royal Ascot (I was working) on Ladies Day, they were all at it!

Never seen it in Blackpool!

JasperCopeland · 02/10/2018 19:02

I love visiting Blackpool, not been for more than ten years though. There used to be a grand national horse ride, is it still there? It was wonderful.

JasperCopeland · 02/10/2018 19:03

No, not the Grand National - I mean a steeplechase ride

C0untDucku1a · 02/10/2018 19:06

Im 30 mins from blackpool. We like the zoo and stanley park. Theres The sandcastle. Sealife centre is very very small. So possibly not worth the cost if youre paying full price.

I have a favourite cafe by the sea, but it is in cleveleys.

Delatron · 02/10/2018 19:06

I’m sure the Steeplechase was highly dangerous. As a skinny child I remember my
Mum clinging on to me for dear life as we went flying round!

Sundayblues13 · 02/10/2018 19:10

Hope you have a lovely time OP! Sorry for jumping on your post, we too were planning a HT road trip to see the lights , so this threads been interesting for the suggestions not from snobs . @ YeTalkShiteHen the Dr who museum sounds ace my DC would love that , where is it located please as I can’t find it on line x

susurration · 02/10/2018 19:16

The steeplechase is the one with the horses. The grand national is two roller coasters that go round side by side.

mycatplotsdeath · 02/10/2018 19:16

Steve's chippy in clevelys is lush

Papergirl1968 · 02/10/2018 19:20

The steeplechase was still there when we went 18 months ago. Looked a bloody death trap!
