Shark vaccum, come tell me the good the bad and the ugly?

Our beloved Hetty has finally decided to retire after 12 long years of service.

I’ve been browsing all the different options and getting rather bamboozled.

Saw that Shark were offering £150 off and the free true pet thingy so I’ve snapped and on a whim bought it.

I’m usually an uber thorough researcher so I’m panicking now.

Could you lovely people tell me what you like/don’t like about your Sharks? I’ve gone for the Duo Clean powered lift away vaccum.

I am going to keep my dyson, mainly cause the cordless function is attached to my wall.

It works fine downstairs which is all laminate.

I'll keep my shark upstairs (ooh err that sounds rude lol), which is all carpet and covered in cat/dog hair that the dyson won't pick up

Stupid question, but how do you empty a shark?

I have a Dyson which I hate. Every time I empty it I turn into Bridget Jones with a face full of dust and fright night hair.

I have a Herry who is old and cumbersome and isn't what I want for quick hoovering jobs.

So, a cordless GTech or a cordless Shark?

TheSerenDipitY · 03/10/2018 12:25

had a dyson and now have a shark, both had good suction and worked basically the same, only real difference is the shark is way lighter, so is easy to use, the dirt barrel is a bit easier to remove and refit but the clips do annoy me when i want to take the pole bit off so i can use the crevice tool, and the only bit i hate and often cuss over is i run over or stand on the power cord all the time so now i have to hold the cord in one hand while i vacuum, husband used it tonight to clean up his carpet cutting experiment and found it really good and easy to use ( he was very vocal about it)

@dalmatianmad your dogs are gorgeous! So worth the extra hoovering.

My Shark arrived today. I am boggled.

I thought Hetty was doing a reasonable job but turns out she was a lazy wagon and we’ve been tramping round in swathes of filth. The shite that came out of the carpets is unimaginable Shock.

It’s even made my landing carpet look good and it’s on it’s last legs.

I may be a little bit in love.

Going to buy the big dusting tool and the canister caddy next payday.

Loving this thread. I’m collecting my shark tomorrow!

LexieLulu · 06/10/2018 15:01

Can anyone help me?! I've just got my shark today and it keeps making a noise and the roller in the bottom stops

LexieLulu · 06/10/2018 15:05

I'm establishing it only does it when it's on the carpet feature and pulling it towards me. May have to read manual

LexieLulu · 06/10/2018 15:11

One room! I hoovered with my dyson on Thursday 😲

I got loads up too the first time. Mine has a green light for the brush, it goes red if there is a problem. Does yours have the same?

SadieLancaster · 06/10/2018 17:39

I’ve got the lift away version. Love it.

LexieLulu · 07/10/2018 10:52

@BrickByBrick yes that's what it's doing. Making a noise and going red, but from the first back and forth.

Going to fully read the manual later as I just put it all together and started hoovering. Check I haven't missed something I should have done
