Shark vaccum, come tell me the good the bad and the ugly?

Our beloved Hetty has finally decided to retire after 12 long years of service.

I’ve been browsing all the different options and getting rather bamboozled.

Saw that Shark were offering £150 off and the free true pet thingy so I’ve snapped and on a whim bought it.

I’m usually an uber thorough researcher so I’m panicking now.

Could you lovely people tell me what you like/don’t like about your Sharks? I’ve gone for the Duo Clean powered lift away vaccum.

That’s the one I’ve gone for @insertimaginativeusername.

I was gritting my teeth thinking I was gonna have to part with £300+ so when I saw it on spesh I thought feck it it’s now or never.

Oh dear...I was hoping I could stretch out the dying dyson until after Christmas but now I'm really twitching 😬

DurhamDurham · 01/10/2018 22:01

I got a Shark six months ago when our Dyson died, it's fab and much better than the Dyson with regards to picking up. It's lightweight and easy to manoeuvre. The only downside is that it has to be emptied frequently, it seems to fill up very fast.

Got a powered liftaway. It is the best vaccuum I’ve ever owned (after three Dysons, a Miele Cat n Dog, a green pullalong hoover and a Vax)

MardyMavis · 02/10/2018 11:30

Shot shit shit hair gets tangled in it and you have to literally pull it all apart awful thing. Give me hetty any day.

Pinklady1981 · 02/10/2018 11:32

Love love love my shark hoover. I have the lift away as I live in a 3 storey house. It makes my life so much easier and I also have 4 cats. Totally recommend

LexieLulu · 02/10/2018 12:36

Weirdly searched Shark on here as I am sooo fed up of my dyson cordless.

Looking at buying this...

Anyone got this model, my worry is that it's cheap but I don't really have loads to spend

Pinklady1981 · 02/10/2018 13:42

Excellent. I brought mine about 6 weeks ago from Argos with £100 off 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

LexieLulu · 02/10/2018 13:51

My DH just told me it's my anniversary present... and I'm not even mad 😂

EmmaGrundyForPM · 02/10/2018 13:56

We bought a Shark Liftaway a few weeks ago when our Dyson finally died. DH says it's good but doesn't always pick up the fluff from the carpet. It also falls over lots. I haven't used it yet.

Pinklady1981 · 02/10/2018 14:20

Lexilulu love it 😂

Cloud9Until6am · 02/10/2018 14:24

I use a lift away for work and it's AMAZING! Picks up so much and it's very easy to manoeuvre. My only complaint is that it doesn't pick up chips like the old Henry used to but it's a pretty minor complaint Grin

dalmatianmad · 02/10/2018 14:25

I ordered a shark NV801 UKT yesterday after recommendations from other Dalmatian owners. Spotty dogs are renowned for covering every surface with their hair and it's an ongoing battle to keep the house clean. Can't wait for it to arrive Smile

gobbin · 02/10/2018 21:05

I’ve got the one that pinklady linked to (the maroon True Pet liftaway). It’s very light, incredibly adaptable (comes apart in multiple ways to reach parts you’ve never considered hoovering before 😂). Can’t recommend it highly enough. Needs emptying every time if you’ve a hairy or large-ish house (only small downside). Cord is good length.

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 02/10/2018 21:19

Plus points are it sucks well, love the lift away and how easy it is to unclick the parts.

Bad points are shorter cord, ridiculously small dust bin, gives me arm ache to push and the fluffy roller at the front clogs up all the time.

BifsWif · 02/10/2018 21:27

I love it. Far, far better than the Dyson I had before in my humble opinion.

BrickByBrick · 02/10/2018 21:54

Lexie I have that one, it is really good for the price.

We have had dysons but I was falling out of love, the filter was permanently clogging up and it was just losing suction. We have kept it though for 'messy' jobs and the car.

Now to my Shark, I got it on recommendation from here, I really like it - it runs away from you though, the cord is a bit short and it can fall (but so did the Dyson) but it picks up like a dream, the lift away feature is great for the stairs, the brush does get clogged, but that is perhaps a good thing as it shows it is picking up.

Enervator · 02/10/2018 21:56

Have just ordered the NV801 Grin

Haggisfish · 02/10/2018 22:25

Damn you all! Also just ordered the nv801!!

McFugget · 02/10/2018 22:45

I've got the Shark NV680UKT after getting fed up with the Miele, which was utter shit. The Shark is fab! The only household appliance I've ever actually got a bit excited about. No bad points at all.

Sidge · 02/10/2018 23:13

I am the Queen of Vacuuming. My friends take the piss out of me for my hoover collection over the years. I’ve had Dysons, Mieles, Samsungs, Hoovers, Vaxes, Morphy Richards, cylinders, uprights, and everything in between.

I got a Shark recently and it’s brilliant. Picks up a ton of fluff and hair, as well as cat hair. Is so easy to use and it’s even got headlights. I bloody love it.

dalmatianmad · 03/10/2018 10:43

It's arrived! So excited!

donajimena
I've used my clients. I love it. The only downside is the battery life.

I've just had a vision of you pushing a person around the floor, with their head on the ground and you using their legs to push them, while they lick up dust and crumbs from the floor.
