...had to spend it on yourself and only on fun/frivolous non essential things/travel what would you do/buy?

Massive shopping spree in Stratford and a few nights away in a top notch spa hotel with my partner and alllllll the treatments! Grin

Studyinghell · 30/09/2018 19:56

Motor home with reversing cameras and really good satnav

almondsareforevermore · 30/09/2018 19:58

I’d get the two fillings I need, have a decent haircut, visit a chiropractor, buy new shoes and handbag, give a home to several rescue cats and dogs and keep enough of the money to maintain them for life.
New bed, new sofa, new iron. Have the house decorated throughout.
Have a short break in Paris.

Lazybonita · 30/09/2018 19:58

These are fab! I love the idea of going to some good shows with overnight stays. I would love to see Harry Potter and the cursed child and would love to go back to Hamilton and take DH this time. I also like the idea of one gorgeous handbag that ages well and perhaps a really beautiful pair of boots to match...

I would book 3 holidays.
One for me.
One for me and the kids. Rent a villa somewhere warm for us all.
One for me to recover from that holiday.
I did this a few years ago, and it was amazing. For mine, it was cheap last minute deals, and a bit of thought went into the villa.

Leftover two decent pairs of boots - ankle and knee - to last for years.
Same with a jacket and coat.

After that see what's left and decide from there.

Actually, scrap all that. A breast reduction and a bit of a lift. Could save a bloody fortune on nice bras. Then see what's left.

PoptartPoptart · 30/09/2018 20:07

Holidays. Theatre. Michelin starred restaurants.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 30/09/2018 20:09

If I could share it with DH & the DC then I’d book us all on a trip back to the place we used to live and spend a couple weeks hanging out with our friends, and then tag a family break somewhere else in the US on to the end - a week somewhere just the 6 of us. That would use up the £10K easily.

If I HAD to spend it on just myself then I’d

  • book a week or two back in the place where we used to live to hang out with friends
  • then a week/long weekend somewhere else with my closest friends who are scattered far and wide - some still in the city we used to live in, but some elsewhere in the States - all way too far from me here in the UK and I miss them loads - would love a girls retreat with them. - Then a week somewhere just me on my own. Somewhere I could walk and explore and get lost with no-one else to worry about for a whole week.

That would mean far more to me than any things.

ASauvignonADay · 30/09/2018 20:29

I'd eat out every day!

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 30/09/2018 22:36

I’d take my daughter back to her homeland, that would take it all.

Otherwise theatre trips, to the West End with museum visits and hotels stays. Disneyland Paris too.

Iwantaunicorn · 30/09/2018 22:50

I’d go to the Maldives or Bora Bora, or have a beautiful piece of jewellery made for me, probably a ring.

FairyPenguin · 30/09/2018 22:58

Luxury family holiday, definitely!

DrWhy · 30/09/2018 23:01

Personal trainer for a year followed by a shopping spree with a personal shopper - maybe a colours consultation thing. All once I’ve finished breastfeeding this bump. No more mum stripes, maternity and feeding clothes and creeping up sizes. Hair and makeup lessons.
Anything left on a dive holiday for me and a new dry suit for UK diving.

SymphonyofShadows · 30/09/2018 23:19

Records and gigs

Stupomax · 30/09/2018 23:21

I'd go to Australia via Japan.

Fancy Cape Cod, Maldives, Sorrento

Just so you know, you mustn't try to drive in or out of the Cape on a Friday or Sunday afternoon. We were talking about that this afternoon.

nocoolnamesleft · 30/09/2018 23:51

World cruise.

BackforGood · 30/09/2018 23:55

Holidays. Several of them.

SpoonBlender · 30/09/2018 23:57

All travel. I've always wanted to do the Orient Express trip, so that for starters!

NoSquirrels · 01/10/2018 00:10

Holidays. Theatre. Michelin starred restaurants

What Poptart said.

I'd have one BIG trip somewhere as a family (£5K gone, easily).

I'd have a week in NYC with my DH. Including shows and posh eating.

I'd go to somewhere ludicrously luxuriant for a spa weekend with my sister. Bonus if Michelin food available too.

London and some shows, possibly festival tickets with the kids too.

There's probably loads of other "stuff" I could buy - clothes, gadgets etc - but for lasting memories I'd go with the experiences.

BarbaraofSevillle · 01/10/2018 03:40

Another one for holidays, somewhere far away that I can dive in an amazing location, eg Galapagos, Hawaii, Truk Lagoon, or Australia with a stopover to see SIL and family, who live in Asia. Or a cruise to Antarctica, but probably not to dive as I don't do it quite that cold.

If the £10k is per person, DP can come too, we'd probably need that much.

WilyMinx · 01/10/2018 04:07

Lasik to fix my eyesight, laser treatments to reduce unsightly veins on my face, adult swimming lessons (can just about swim but not well), driving lessons, private language tutoring. If anything's left, then clothes and shoes and bags!

WalkingTed · 01/10/2018 06:54

..... in the hope i can win the big one and then travel. a lot.

NeverTwerkNaked · 01/10/2018 07:05

A real proper family holiday somewhere warm and where we could do lots of activities - we have four children so that would be most of the budget

A few luxurious days away somewhere with just DP ; maybe New York or a european city

Some expensive shower gel and perfume for me!

DieAntword · 01/10/2018 07:11

MadMaryBoddington · 01/10/2018 07:36

A very long pergola, dripping with white wisteria.
