It was bound to happen eventually, DH forgot to bring the car home.

Grin Since the start of Sept he's been dropping DS to school in the mornings (unless he's working abroad) then leaves his car in the car park at the tram station and takes the tram to work. He did say at the start that one day he would probably forget about the car because he often takes a taxi home from work, and today he did forget because he was rushing home so he could take DD to football practise.

It's not a big deal really, it's just funny. He's taken DD in m car and when he gets back he'll walk down to the station (only about 12 mins) and pick up his car.

Bless him,it's a shit when you're on auto pilot.
Just after I started a new job I got on the motorway the wrong way (went north towards old job rather than south to new job.)
The real pain was i got stuck on traffic before the first junction I could get off at and turn around.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 18:04

This is what I would do Grin

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 26/09/2018 18:05

Once took ddog to the shop and went home without her. Ran back and she was till sat there tied up patiently waiting!!
What a crap ddog owner!!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/09/2018 18:06

Totally something I would do. Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/09/2018 18:08

How did you explain your lateness at your new job Bubblysqueak? Did you admit it or just mutter something about traffic? Grin

Bubblysqueak · 26/09/2018 18:30

I admitted it, it took a few weeks for the piss take to stop. Great ice breaker though.

AnotherPidgey · 26/09/2018 19:24

I've done it a few times. I spend my life traipsing a short distance up and down the same stretch of road as school and various community buildings are clustered together. I occasionally drive if I have supplies for Brownies or went directly from somewhere else... then I forget and walk home Grin

plominoagain · 26/09/2018 19:40

Yep , have done similar - took the tube and then the train home from work , walked out of station to get into my car .... and realised it was actually in my works car park . 100 miles away . Idiot .

Mind you , I once drove to my old place of work for 7am one morning , let myself in .. then remembered I’d actually transferred to another department some five years earlier . Fortunately I had got there quite early , so I managed to scoot across town and just slide in on time and no one was the wiser !

I know someone who got a bus home after a visit into town, found their car not at home and reported it to the police stolen. Safe to say hours later when the penny dropped they had driven and parked up in town they were pretty embarrassed!

RememberUs · 26/09/2018 19:53

I often get in the car and forget where I am going. I think it is because over the years between dropping the DC to school, going to work then running them around to clubs etc all in a small area it just merges into one. I may have gone to the wrong place on the odd occasion.

The best was always when I forgot the DC were in the car and headed off down the dual carriageway to work in the opposite direction to school, mostly they would scream MUM when I went to go off at the wrong exit on the roundabout. Except the one time they kept quiet and let me get all the way to work!

HollowTalk · 26/09/2018 19:54

To a PP, please don't say ddog! It sounds crazy.

delphguelph · 26/09/2018 19:56

Similar thing happened to me yesterday. We have one car, two keys. I was in car pick up that night. I started the car with my keys. DH dropped me at the station. DH texts me later, you don't have your keys. Fuck. Huge coordination of him dropping off the keys at my office etc etc.

Miljah · 26/09/2018 19:56

Maybe off topic, but I so remember a fun, late Saturday morning game me and my flat mate used to play. It was 'Where the eff did we leave the car? We'd start at the medics bar, her all responsible; a bunch of us would drive into town, park up- then it was pub/party til the small hours; lift or taxi home.

Then the next morning was a forensic piecing together of Last Night to locate her car! 😏😂

delphguelph · 26/09/2018 19:56

What's up with ddog?

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 26/09/2018 19:59

I used to have a job travelling to different schools. There were nine regular ones. I lost count of the times I went to the wrong one. Fortunately, they were in a small area.

IntentsAndPorpoises · 26/09/2018 19:59

A friend and colleague of mine got the wrong train one day. It was a fast train to London. Which is a long way from where we work!

I once turned up to work, parked the car and suddenly heard dd in the back. I'd forgotten to take her to the childminder!

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 26/09/2018 20:05

As a student I did this more than once with my bike.

I'd cycle into the city centre, chain my bike up and go about my business and then get the bus home drink may have been involved on more than one occasion

ivykaty44 · 26/09/2018 20:07

If it’s only a 12 minute walk to the station why does your Dhaka take the car there?

HollowTalk · 26/09/2018 20:07

What's up with ddog?

It's a dog! Why put the other d in?

I use to take ds to school and county would reimburse me the petrol.
This year he has a taxi.

The 2nd week I went into autopilot and when ds got in taxi I drove to work. Except I followed him in his taxi to his school 🤦🏼‍♀️ we leave half hour later than I use to so was late for work

IntentsAndPorpoises · 26/09/2018 20:23

@ivykaty44 it says because he takes dc to childcare/school first.

ivykaty44 · 26/09/2018 20:26

Why does that make a difference?

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 26/09/2018 20:28

Most people put dh when there h isn't d at all!! I love my dog so it's dear dog =ddog.
So shoot me.

I've just remembered that the week before last he forgot DD. Grin DD's football training is 6pm to 7pm, and DS's is 7pm to 8.30pm, so he picks DD up when he drops off DS. Except for two weeks ago when he got chatting to DS's coach, finished chatting, got in the car and came home. He walked into the house and I said from the kitchen "DD do you want something to eat" and DH said "Oh ... I forgot DD".

We are older parents, sometimes it shows. Grin
