Three must haves inside.
Three must haves outside.

Inside
Upstairs laundry room.
My own bathroom which nobody else even knows exists.
An indoor swimming pool (a lap pool, a hydro pool and a jacuzzi).

We have ours and for the most part, I love it. We planned and built it but doing it again, I would ....

Inside:
Less glass, better insulation and a warmer house! I hate feeling cold in my own home.
Our good room would be bigger
Bigger laundry/ cloaks area

Outside:

Love threads like this!

We did our house about a year back and now have nearly everything we want. highlights are:

insulation/good windows/central air and heat.

book room/library with a fire and a window seat (and shelves over the window)
2 other working fireplaces
lovely lovely kitchen with walk in pantry
nice deck and patio for sitting/eating outside.
guest room with bathroom of its own
dark wooden floors everywhere

What I would have loved to have but couldn't

2 car garage
bigger garden (sometimes I fantasise about winning the lottery and buying the house right behind us and knocking it down and expanding the garden and building a 4 car garage - guy who owns it is really nice and we exchange pleasantries over the fence so I feel a bit guilty about that)
Nice driverway - could fix this eventually though.

Things I didn't expect to get so much pleasure from were the underfloor heating in the bathrooms (dh's idea) and lovely blinds we invested in throughout the house.

Mumelie · 25/09/2018 23:10

Oh I like this one 😁

Off road parking
Be away from busy roads
Be all on one level
Detached and no neighbours nearby (private garden)
Craft/sewing room (large) next to my bedroom next to my hidden bathroom (where my teenage daughter can't steal my toiletries!)
An annex for my mother and another for my daughter - hell let's just get one for DH too 😂
A study for my DH right next to the front door where he can store all his paperwork, bikes, hat collection (make that an expanding room)!
A cat room where they can have lots of shelves and cat trees and a huge catio
Big kitchen dinner with sofas
Paddocks, stabling and an arena
Near the coast (flat walking distance)
A big private garden with outside eating areas and beautiful planting

Oh and a cleaner, gardener, cook to help (plus I wouldn't have to work)

Off to browse Rightmove........

Id want an upstairs apartment in a stately home type place.

Inside
Gorgeous en suite with jacuzzi bath
Very cosy upstairs drawing room with a balcony
The biggest bed in existence

Outside
A huge terrace with a very long view
Lovely formal gardens for me to walk through but not maintain
Ditto loads of woodland

3ChangingForNow · 25/09/2018 23:14

Ohhh and a small river with some ponds

DunkandEggAgain · 25/09/2018 23:22

A completely private garden housing a veg patch, herb garden, chicken run, wild flower patch and a huge and intricate tree house.

A large patio type area for my awesome bbq grill, a pizza oven and meat smoker, sun loungers and other garden furniture.

A field and stable to house rescue donkeys, ponies and horses.

Apart from the nice kitchen/bathrooms/guest bedrooms with ensuite:
One large room converted to a mini jungle gym with an area dedicate to trampoline. (Like those trampoline places)
Indoor heated swimming pool and a Jacuzzi
Indoor library with loads of lamps dotted around, warm, dark wall colours, cushions and throws, floor cushions and rugs. It would be decked out like a cosy den so if I got stuck into a good book then I could literally snuggle down anywhere in the room and go to sleep when i cant keep my eyes open anymore, me all cosy and warm and happy.

LtGreggs · 25/09/2018 23:25

Inside

  • Utility room, with loads of space for boot drying etc too
  • Self cleaning real fire (?!)
  • Beautiful wide dark oak floorboard with silk rugs

Outside

  • Patio area made of small brick blockwork
  • (Maybe my imaginary collie dog could live out there in a cosy kennel to be available for walks and sitting next to me for a cuppa without needing to come inside to my allergic family?)
