Has anyone had a Cortisone injection for chronic pain.

I have bursitis in my hip. It’s really causing me discomfort.
The painkillers my GP gave me really made my digestive system feel bad so I’ve stopped the naproxen tablets.
The Dr said the alternative is an injection in my hip.
That scares me. Can anyone tell me if it helped them with pain and was it a grim process having it done 😩

Hey,

I have bursitis in both hips.

If you can afford it, I'd try acupuncture and physiotherapy first.

Massively helps me. I'm flat footed and just don't move correctly, so sometimes I have pain sometimes I don't.

Pain meds may ruin your stomach.

The acupuncture helps to drain the fluid, and using an ice pack every day. 20 mins on then off twice really helps too.

I think with this pain, alternatives will help you more than pain meds.

Good luck

My cousin has had them for the same thing you have and in the same place. She said they hurt a lot and it was worse than giving birth but they worked very well afterwards. I believe it took a few days to really kick in. Doesn't look like eveyone finds them painful though and I think they can definitely be worth it. They said she couldn't have them very often but I forget why that was sorry.

I'm sitting here in agony with my neck and considering pleading for one myself.

@ihatethecold she is getting there thanks- 3 years in remission now so fingers crossed. I tried both acupuncture and the Chinese just didn't make a difference but the western style they actually put the needles right into the part that is causing the pain - for me it just worked so much better.
