Crochet Tampons. Any good?

Just browsing Etsy and saw these. Anyone use crochet tampons? (I have some purple cotton crochet yarn I bought once upon a time to make some small face flannels...)

Crochet Tampons. Any good?

Oh dear, I'd imagine they'd be quite flimsy (hard to get up there)Grin and not very absorbent haha

Justincase87 · 25/09/2018 17:45

I can imagine these being really irritating after being washed, hard to wash properly and not particularly absorbent. I've used reusable pads, so I'm not adverse to the idea of reusable stuff, but I just don't think I'd be reassured that I could clean these as thoroughly as you'd need to.

Why...just...why?

Crochet fabric is relatively coarse, especially in chunky pure cotton. There is no way I would want to cram crochet into my vagina. And as for washing them! I would not trust them to come clean. Again, because of the coarse, knotty texture of crochet, but this time combined with, presumably, an inner core of fabric.

Surely just buy a menstrual cup. Or use a sponge. Those look awful.

NameChangeMagee · 25/09/2018 17:52

Those don't look safe 😮

Dear Lord.

MollyHuaCha · 25/09/2018 18:02

No, just no...

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/09/2018 18:04

No way. They won't be observant and they'll itch. Who wants an itchy vag?

mimibunz · 25/09/2018 18:04

I’ve seen it all now.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/09/2018 18:04

Observant = absorbent. Obviously.

Mind you, there's not much to see up there and it's dark, so they probably won't be observant either.

Jozen · 25/09/2018 18:05

They don't look very comfortable or absorbent to me.
Also after several wears, soaks and washes, I'd be fearing for the strength of that string.

PortiaCastis · 25/09/2018 18:05

Look like someone's cut up my Grans tea cosy, would think they're pretty useless

Fakeflowersandlemonade · 25/09/2018 18:07

Just checked out link. She also makes lip balm covers. Imagine getting them mixed up 🙈

Letshopeitsallok · 25/09/2018 18:08

Not a chance. Have these people never heard of toxic shock syndrome?

I’m a crocheter too. But no.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/09/2018 18:08

Lip balm covers? But why does lip balm need a cover? Does it get a bit chilly at the changing of the seasons?

DuggeesWoggle · 25/09/2018 18:10

Never mind uncomfortable, they don't look particularly hygienic. Do they come in a sterile pouch? Otherwise how do you know what other bacteria you are shoving up your vagina along with the tampon?

Jozen · 25/09/2018 18:12

If you check out the Etsy link, the seller is from Hull....
Our Brian's gone all crafty.

Hereitisnow · 25/09/2018 18:12

Is this from Viz? 😆

Fakeflowersandlemonade · 25/09/2018 18:14

I have no idea Lonny. I can honestly say iv been as tempted to buy a coat for my lip balm as much as iv been tempted to stick my crocheting up my vagina. The world has gone mad

PortiaCastis · 25/09/2018 18:15

But if you wanted crochet tampons why pay a chancer £6.50 for them when you could make them yourself

FlaviaAlbia · 25/09/2018 18:16

I wonder if they are actually aimed at women? I'm suspecting it's for men with wierd fetishes tbh.

They seem unhygienic, ineffective and a recipe for toxic shock syndrome to me.
