I got so sick of my phone ringing, I switched it off and mailed it to myself

How long do you think it will take to arrive? Genuinely had had enough today. I was sat waiting on the school run parked outside the post office and it was ringing and singing and beeping and it struck me I could just buy an envelope and post it to myself and have a lovely few days where I wouldn’t be lying if I said id lost it. So I did it. Weirdly not regretting it yet.

Good luck expecting Royal Mail to take much care of it! They'll probably lose it

InterstellarSleepingElla · 25/09/2018 12:26

So funny!

Although I hope you managed to upload all photos you had taken on your phone to the cloud before you posted it in case it doesn't make it back.

Hideandgo · 25/09/2018 12:27

Ita going to get stolen I bet!

Oblomov18 · 25/09/2018 12:54

I don't understand what this has achieved?
since posting it, you've started a thread on mumsnet and also opened three messages in messenger.

so doesn't that kind of defeat the object?

Backstabbath · 25/09/2018 13:02

So many boring people in this trying to kill a lighthearted thread. Go away!

OP was happy to post her phone and it has brightened up a dreary day.

Awesome idea... we will obviously need to know when it turns up though

LydiaLunch7 · 25/09/2018 13:09

At least this demonstrates why simply turning it off would not have worked for OP!

I think you need to find a Screen Addicts Anonymous group for support, OP.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/09/2018 13:45

Op your should have taken the sim card out and posted that.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2018 14:36

This needs to be moved to classics!

redshoeblueshoe · 25/09/2018 14:56

And some posts need deleting for not being in the spirit of the thread !

DoctorTwo · 25/09/2018 15:04

A BOOP point to you OP, you've given me a massive laugh. I hope you get your phone back in one piece.

Norugratsatall · 25/09/2018 15:23

@BreakfastAtSquiffanys so did I!! 😆

starryeyed19 · 25/09/2018 15:52

This is excellent. I'm enthralled.

HebeMumsnet · 25/09/2018 16:01

This has made my day. I'm making a list of all the irritants I could post to myself in order to enjoy a couple of days' peace, now... Has it gone first class or second, OP?

calpop · 25/09/2018 16:07

The children's father, who is not v technical, recently got a new phone and I recently discovered that my phone is a slightly older version of Android which is not compatible with Wisepay, ParentCall or TeamView. So now he just had to tell me if any of the 50 odd emails and texts a day acriss 4 kids are important enough to require my attention. So far, only 1 has been. Shame!

itbemay · 25/09/2018 16:28

I LOVE this!

OP you ledge!!

Itsinthebox · 25/09/2018 16:49

It’s bloody back. It’s back Sad

Less than 24 hrs!

I’m not sure if it went through the normal post or if the village postie pulled it out and just dropped it in this morning. There’s no post stamp just a big black marker across the stamps?

Anyone in Australia happy to have me post it to them and then bounce it back Wink

The sheer palpable joy of saying “no sorry I’ve lost my phone” all day

OP posts:
Itsinthebox · 25/09/2018 16:50

It’s not smashed either!

OP posts:
LittleMissNaice · 25/09/2018 16:54

How many stamps do you think I'd need to mail a 3 year old?

Itsinthebox · 25/09/2018 16:56

The 3 yr old would be back the next bloody day Angry. Thought Royal Mail were supposed to be shit except when you want them to be!

wafflyversatile · 25/09/2018 17:00

I don't know about batteries but I am confident you are not allowed to send children through the post. Sorry. :(

HerRoyalFattyness · 25/09/2018 17:05

Oh this is fantastic. This has really made me giggle. Grin
op maybe post it again, but piece by piece? Sim card, case, phone...

redshoeblueshoe · 25/09/2018 17:42

You could put it in the freezer for a couple of days

MrsMozart · 25/09/2018 17:48

redshoe pretty sure you can't put a three year old in the freezer for a couple of days...

LittleMissNaice · 25/09/2018 17:59

Definitely not! ... He'd eat all the ice cream.

BroomHandledMouser · 25/09/2018 18:02

This is the best thing I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂
