I got so sick of my phone ringing, I switched it off and mailed it to myself

How long do you think it will take to arrive? Genuinely had had enough today. I was sat waiting on the school run parked outside the post office and it was ringing and singing and beeping and it struck me I could just buy an envelope and post it to myself and have a lovely few days where I wouldn’t be lying if I said id lost it. So I did it. Weirdly not regretting it yet.

You could simply have turned it off or put it on dnd. Drama, much?

LauderSyme · 25/09/2018 00:21

BitOutOf Grin Initially I thought it was a great idea OP but now I'm having qualms on your behalf. Isn't three 3 stamps insufficient postage?!

Ellie56 · 25/09/2018 00:25

Laughing at this. Grin Grin.

A thread telling us OP had got fed up with her phone and switched it off would not be half as funny as this one

Let us know when it turns up OP!

LizB62A · 25/09/2018 00:30

Depending on which phone it is, I'm guessing it won't be sufficient postage Smile paragraph The last time I sent a phone it cost about £8 (although that did include insurance up to £500) Good luck !!

LoveAGoodChat · 25/09/2018 00:35

Are you even allowed to post batteries?..I always thought that you couldn't send batteries by mail? I wouldn't have done this myself, I'd be too scared of my phone getting lost or stolen in transit, would have been easier and cheaper to just take out the phone battery for a day or two...at least you would still have the phone if an emergency arose

CatRen27 · 25/09/2018 01:11

This is brilliant. 😂 what if it never arrives? Unlimited peace and quiet?

penisbeakers · 25/09/2018 01:14

Hahahaha!

pnutter · 25/09/2018 01:32

I would love to do this 😂 good one op

Myshinynewname · 25/09/2018 01:47

Hahaha that is brilliant!

HerRoyalNotness · 25/09/2018 01:55

You might get a little note from the P.O. about insufficient postage. Then you can decide to leave it a few more days before you pick it up.

BarbaraofSevillle · 25/09/2018 03:19

If the package was less than an inch thick then its likely that you've put more than enough postage on it so it will be delivered back to you on Tuesday. PARAGRAPH Next time take the sim card out and post that to yourself by second class post so it will cost you less, be away longer and chances are that you will lose it permanently before you can be arsed to fiddle about putting it back in your phone. You should still be able to use your phone to listen to music while it's gone too.

theboxofdelights · 25/09/2018 06:57

I think this is fab. I love it when I forget my phone!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 25/09/2018 06:57

if you sent it Royal Mail, you may never see it again

TroysMammy · 25/09/2018 07:03

Yes you can send batteries as long as they are contained or sent with an electronic device.

LizzieSiddal · 25/09/2018 07:05

You can post batteries! Phones, torches etc etc often get posted with no problem. You are supposed to tell the PO though so they can put a warning on the envelope. I wouldn’t worry though OP. I’m sure it will find it’s way back to you.

I occasionally have a 'phone holiday' where I switch it off for a week. *OP I hope you switched it off first.

MrsMozart · 25/09/2018 07:47

Gawd I'd be lost without mine. It holds most of my working life. Though I don't have any notification thingies as that would drive me bananas, and don't have FB, Twitter, etc. Enjoy your peace and quiet OP!

BobbyBanana · 25/09/2018 07:56

IceBear seriously, what?

The OP did an inspired thing. This thread is fun.

Envelope was definitely less than an inch thick so I’m thinking there was enough postage but having to pick it up from the post office would be great, I could drag that out until Thursday. PARA. I just logged onto Facebook messenger and there were three messages from my ex and a random school mum that they were trying to get hold of me. None of them will be important reasons so I’m feeling quite happy with my decision. Have packed kids off to school with my work number in case of emergency and strict instructions not to call otherwise. Am not looking forward to the radio on the way to work though Hmm

Dcs last school hardly any emails unless de important things related to your child. Current school zillions lots of emails every day to the point where even dh has noticed! I’d love to post my phone but I’m disabled so need it. Had to ring my sister in law yesterday to come & rescue me as I’d fallen over. Grin. blooming iPhone not doing paragraphs!

Itsinthebox · 25/09/2018 08:03

I’m genuinely feeling excited about a phone free day. Of course I could’ve just turned it off but how long would that last for until I needed to “just” call someone or check an email or answer a text quickly
