Yes

WeShouldBeFriends · 24/09/2018 19:34

I test this by thinking 'would I be happy to hear my 5yo say this?' and for this one it's a no.

Sandsnake · 24/09/2018 19:35

Yeah, I think so. And I tend towards the more liberal side with these sort of things generally.

LadyLaSnack · 24/09/2018 19:35

I don’t really like it when adults say sodding (and I swear quite a lot) so I would say no.

TheSageofOnions · 24/09/2018 19:42

Yes. Totally.

DramaAlpaca · 24/09/2018 19:43

Yes, it's inappropriate.

SneakyGremlins · 24/09/2018 19:44

No Confused

museumum · 24/09/2018 19:44

At 5 no I’d rather not. At 12 probably fine.

FrederickCreeding · 24/09/2018 19:44

Yes

TheQueef · 24/09/2018 19:44

Not as good as blooming Nora but better than saying cunting.

FrederickCreeding · 24/09/2018 19:45

As in yes, it's inappropriate.

lottiegarbanzo · 24/09/2018 19:46

Yes, certainly for a primary-aged child.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 24/09/2018 19:46

sodding and bugger are interesting aren't they >> I assume sodding is for sodomy? >> both definitely v rude then but deemed to be medium swears in the uk not terribly strong. 5 yo saying sodding all the time is not a good look but I wouldn't think anything as I'm sweary myself

PattiStanger · 24/09/2018 19:47

Yes

puddleduckmummy · 24/09/2018 19:49

My 5 yo, no. My 11 yo DN who says things like this to get a reaction? I'd ignore her because she's after the reaction so I don't indulge her

WisestIsShe · 24/09/2018 19:51

No

thedevilinablackdress · 24/09/2018 19:51

Depends on how old and whether they then ask you what it means.

ThanksItHasPockets · 24/09/2018 20:07

Yes, I think so. It’s curious that ‘little sod’ is so often used to describe naughty children when you consider the etymology, from ‘sodomite’.

BigGreenOlives · 24/09/2018 20:08

Yes - inappropriate unless 16/17

MonumentVal · 24/09/2018 20:11

Yes. Mine are 10 and 7 and I'm more relaxed about it slipping out, but any time ds tries a swear word he still gets the lecture about not doing it in front of teachers or grandparents and actually not other adults. By secondary age I figure it's OK in moderation at home, like bloody.

StealthNinjaMum · 24/09/2018 20:11

Inappropriate.

LemonysSnicket · 24/09/2018 20:12

Yes. I wouldn't be bothered if someone said it in front of a child, but I wouldn't want a child saying a word derived from sodomy aka anal sex

Eeyoreismyspiritanimal · 24/09/2018 20:15

I swear quite a bit (mostly shit and crap in front of kids) and have recently told my 7.5yo I'm not gonna tell him off for the odd slip up around the home as I'd be being a massive hypocrite. Did the whole "we behave differently at home than outside tho - so don't swear in public and certainly don't swear at people" talk. Can't get too excited about swear words tbh.

crumpet · 24/09/2018 20:17

Inappropriate

FunSponges · 24/09/2018 21:38

It would sound awful coming from a child.
