Yes, why not?

LittleHares · 24/09/2018 11:10

Ooh I love them, haven't had one for ages.

FresasAndFrambuesas · 24/09/2018 11:11

What do you think they're going to do? They're just like chicken eggs, they don't bite WinkGrin

StarfishSandwich · 24/09/2018 11:11

Yes they are delicious! Usually massive yolks! We get them from the farm we bought our chickens from occasionally. For what it’s worth, I ate them pregnant too.

Bitchywaitress · 24/09/2018 11:12

Don’t be nervous, they are delicious!

Bigger yolks than hens eggs so great for custard etc.

LittleBookofCalm · 24/09/2018 11:14

Boiled like a normal egg?

glagdy · 24/09/2018 11:14

I have a funny image of someone sat in their kitchen biting their nails staring nervously at a box of eggs. GrinGrinGrin

Asterado · 24/09/2018 11:14

Why are you nervous? They’re eggs.

They’re delicious btw. I quite like them in a bacon sandwich or soft boiled with soldiers. I’d imagine they’d be divine as eggs benedict....

PawneeParksDept · 24/09/2018 11:15

I've had Duck Egg, though I didn't know it at the time. It was fine, pretty much the same no harm will come to you. Smile

MawkishTwaddle · 24/09/2018 11:15

Weirdly, I can't bring myself to.

I imagine they'll taste fishy.

A student where I work brought me one and it sat in my kitchen looking at me for a week before I slung it out. I just couldn't.

MsHomeSlice · 24/09/2018 11:16

we used to have a couple of ducks and I was iffy about the eggs...I have no idea why tbh! Lovely in baking or quiches, but not fried/scrambled/omelette.

Dh loved them scrambled, so he ate most of them :o

LittleBookofCalm · 24/09/2018 11:16

I am reminded of that scene in One foot in the grave where the woman ended up with a snake egg for breakfast

OP posts:
Enko · 24/09/2018 11:19

Grin @ the snake egg

OP try them they are delicious (haven't had one for years may buy some later)

LittleBookofCalm · 24/09/2018 11:19

Can you see me Glagby 😁

OP posts:
iklboo · 24/09/2018 11:19

Why would they taste fishy? Ducks don't generally eat fish.

hugoagogo · 24/09/2018 11:20

They are lovely. I haven't had one for years though.

iklboo · 24/09/2018 11:20

Lovely in baking or quiches, but not fried/scrambled/omelette.

I am SO getting some tomorrow to make a quiche now.

hungryhippie · 24/09/2018 11:20

I really dont like the taste of them.
they are ok cooked in things but not boiled, fried or scrambled.

waxy1 · 24/09/2018 11:20

They’re not fishy! It’s just slightly richer and better than a hen’s egg.

Eat it and decide whether you like it. If not, send the bill to Mumsnet haha.

CharDeeMacDennis · 24/09/2018 11:21

They are lovely, poach them

glagdy · 24/09/2018 11:21

Fishy?! I'm crying!! Because ducks spend time in the water? Where fish are too?

I can't!

I woke up so pissed off and this thread has utterly cheered me up! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

glagdy · 24/09/2018 11:23

Having said that quails eggs make me EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy.

Because they're too small.

MawkishTwaddle · 24/09/2018 11:24

Oh, I know it's nonsense Grin

But I can't get past it.

glagdy · 24/09/2018 11:26

Honestly, between this and the 'use your usual at home cards and state no carriages for supper' thread Mumsnet is killing me today!

hugoagogo · 24/09/2018 11:26

I have an idea that in the middle ages some catholics counted duck as fish so they could eat them on Fridays. I am probably making it up.Confused
