My cat shat in the Lego box

Any tips on how to clean Lego? There are loads of tiny pieces that will go down the plug hole if I try and wash it in the bath. DH says he used a sieve last time he had to wash Lego but there's way too much for that.

Oh God, that's bad! Have you got one of those net laundry bags for delicates? You could put it all in there and then proceed to wash in the bath, maybe?

FlibbertyGiblets · 22/09/2018 14:14

Have you got a zippy up pillowcase? Or a cushion cover that will cope with a one two around the washing machine?

TheQueef · 22/09/2018 14:14

Put the sieve upside down over the plug hole.

Wine my cat is a prick too.

There is several cubic feet of Lego. It's a hell of a job trying to wash it.

Laundry bag on the top rack of the dishwasher maybe?

Almondio · 22/09/2018 14:16

I'd stick it in a laundry bag, soak in boiling water and washing up liquid in a sink, then whack the whole thing in the washing machine on hot (the Lego bag, not the cat).

SealSong · 22/09/2018 14:17

Put in the bath with a plug hole strainer over plug hole, use several changes of water and I would use some bleach or disinfectant in there as well but rinse really well.

Yep, two tier wash.

MrsGrindah · 22/09/2018 14:20

Have you asked the cat why?

30000Lakes · 22/09/2018 14:20

My cat did this, think he thought it was a litter tray! There was a Tsum Tsum in there as well and it got shat on Blush

Bananalanacake · 22/09/2018 14:21

Do you mean your cat sat in the Lego box and there is now hair everything. Actually pooing in it doesn't bear thinking about. I collect Lego and I am never getting a cat. Mn has also totally put me off dogs.

StuntNun · 22/09/2018 14:21

He accidentally got locked in the garage a while ago so I'm assuming he got caught short.

GreenTulips · 22/09/2018 14:21

Maybe the car is sick of standing on lego? It's a kind of protest?

Would've applauded him a few years ago!

PlateOfBiscuits · 22/09/2018 14:22

I bought home a load of kids work to mark in a school plastic tray once. Never again.

Deathraystare · 22/09/2018 14:22

You need Jackson Galaxy - he will sort your naughty cat out!

redcaryellowcar · 22/09/2018 14:23

I think you can put it in the washing machine, perhaps in one of those mesh laundry bags?

StuntNun · 22/09/2018 15:09

It's about 10 cubic feet of Lego. It won't fit in the washing machine or dishwasher! DH is trying to wash it in the bath.

OP posts:
mimibunz · 22/09/2018 15:11

Throw away and buy more?

badgeronabicycle · 22/09/2018 15:18

From recent experience, I'd split it and wash it in the dishwasher, in a pillow case. It's the best way to sterilise it and get all the poo out if the tiny cracks 🤢

titchy · 22/09/2018 15:25

What do you mean it won't fit in washing machine or dishwasher - you can do two or three loads...

StuntNun · 22/09/2018 15:27

I think it would be more like 10-15 loads - it's a lot of Lego.

Flashingbeacon · 22/09/2018 15:29

I had a load of towels and blankets ready for the cat and dog home. Cat pissed on them. Considering it’s rescue we got him from I think that’s horrid behaviour. Didn’t even believe me when I said I might just take him back instead.
I’d say definitely a few loads in the machine.

RSTera · 22/09/2018 15:29

Surely the cat poop was in a fairly contained area? Do you really need to wash it all?

Candymay · 22/09/2018 15:32

But how much poo can there be?

BearSoFair · 22/09/2018 15:33

No advice OP but this sounds like exactly the sort of thing our old cat would have done, and I'm suddenly very grateful that in all the years of DS1 having Lego spread over the house, we never had to deal with cleaning cat shit off of it!
