Lush bath bombs

So, a relative kindly gave my DD (4) a couple of lush bath bombs and they have gone down an absolute treat. she is so excited when they go in and has been going on about them ever since.

I’m not a Lush shopper but i called in today to buy her one for a treat for being so good starting school, and was shocked to realise most of them are £5 each! it seems a lot for one bath 🙈

do they ever have them on offer or are there any alternatives that are just as good? otherwise i think they’ll definitely be for special occasions only 😊

I’ve not tried them yet, but have these ready to try as a B.B. alternative

They've got some lovely lavender ones in poundland atm! Nice fragrance and turns the water lilac

WalkingTed · 21/09/2018 18:30

ive tried bath bombs from Something Soapy.. they are amazing and so very very kind to my sons eczema skin. highly recommended.

Numberofthemouse · 21/09/2018 18:32

I used to bash them up and use a bit at a time

weaving5688 · 21/09/2018 18:33

If you get the 'rainbow' bar from lush, you can get about 9 baths from it and depending on how you mix the colours, it's fun. It's something like £9 so still steep but better value than the bath bombs!

They also love the glittery shower jellies which you can use in the bath, make it sparkly and last longer.

Fishandthechips · 21/09/2018 18:34

The only time they ever go on offer (i use that term loosely) is just after Christmas. They sell of all the Christmas stock for usually half price but its pretty much gone in a day or two.
The prices are ridiculous in my opinion. However they do bubble bars and wands that you can use more than once and they colour the water and make bubbles but dont fizz. Bomb cosmetics do bath bombs and I think they may be a bit cheaper.

Cheesymonster · 21/09/2018 18:36

I bought a marshmallow one from Treacle Moon (available in Tesco) for £3.50. They may have some offers/sets nearer to Christmas, I did see some bath fizzers in the gift aisle.

Jammiebammie · 21/09/2018 18:38

The wands are brilliant (snow fairy pink one is my dds fave) as you swirl in the water, turns pink and smells, well, lush. They last an age!
The bath bombs we break up, or buy the cheaper ones like butter bear etc.
The ‘fun’ bath play dough is actually really annoying and doesn’t last very well. The bubble bars are good and last ages.

I’ve not been able to find any cheaper ones which don’t irritate my dds skin annoyingly.

WalkingTed · 21/09/2018 18:44

try Something Soapy by Aimee, youll find her on facebook. ask to join her page, here products are amazing and cosmetically licenced and dont cost the earth.

weaving5688 · 21/09/2018 18:45

the rainbow bar lasts ok if you're careful not to get the rest of it wet - it's better if you have a handy tin though as the wrapper isn't very secure

EnidButton · 21/09/2018 18:47

She might like Snow Fairy when it comes out for crispy. It's bubble bath and you can just buy a little bottle of it. Smells like a sweet shop and is bright pink. (Little bit of glitter in it if that's a concern.)

Bubble bars can be broken up. They make lots of bubbles too. I like the blackberry one and there's a pink sweet smelling one that my little nieces really like.

EnidButton · 21/09/2018 18:49

Grin Crispy is supposed to say Christmas.

Moody123 · 21/09/2018 18:54

I only use 1/4 per bath , that's plenty x

Hello1290 · 21/09/2018 18:55

I break my mine into two or three bits to get more baths out of it - still pricey though!

Autumnwindy · 21/09/2018 18:59

Yes they are hideously expensive. Its Xmas eve treat to have a few in our house

EmpressJewel · 21/09/2018 18:59

I bought some from Bomb Cosmetics (Amazon, ebay or direct) and they were about £3 each. Admittedly, not as colourful as Lush, but a decent enough alternative.

MoanaofMotunui · 21/09/2018 19:06

We give ours a bash with a rolling pin (enough to get chunks for 6 ish baths) x

LexieLulu · 21/09/2018 19:32

Body shop, £1.50 a bomb xxx

LexieLulu · 21/09/2018 19:33

Wilkos have some for £1 which I get my 4YO too

huggybear · 21/09/2018 19:48

Boxing day. I wouldn't bother with alternatives, they're not as good. The bubble bars can be used loads of times tho.

guiltynetter · 21/09/2018 20:17

thank you! i don’t know why i hadn’t thought of breaking it into a few pieces, it was huge the one she had tonight. gutted! thanks for the other suggestions, i’m completely a lush newbie so didn’t really know what the other products are for.

OP posts:
oooompa · 21/09/2018 20:17

I always cut them into 4 pieces as that's enough to do one bath and I'm cheap Grin very messy but I get more value for money

CurlsLDN · 21/09/2018 20:19

I also buy the Wilko ones for my son. He doesn't notice the difference between those and lush ones, he just loves the fizzing and the colour!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/09/2018 20:27

They are gorgeous (providing there's no glitter )

Dragon's Egg is my DS favourite (and a good alternative to an Easter Egg if they're not chocolate fans)

DD loves the Snow Fairy wand , lasts a few baths.

LemonysSnicket · 21/09/2018 21:04

You can break the melts into more than one bath!! I can do 4!
