We either hunt our own (deer, turkey, rabbit) or buy direct from the farm. We just reserved 1/2 a pig, which should provide us 6minths of meat.

Muscle foods website. Spent £40 and has lasted us nearly 2 months

wouldHAVEshouldHAVEcouldHAVE · 19/09/2018 20:33

I buy the M&S packs of fresh chicken breasts and sirloin steak.
I like that they’re all individually vacuum packed so I don’t have to mess about putting them in food bags before I freeze them.
Costco is really good for meat though if you have the room to store it.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 19/09/2018 20:34

oh yes, i am pleased with the quality.

idontknowwhattosay · 19/09/2018 20:35

is there a website to look at the costco prices?
and is muscle food meat injected with lots of fat and water? the adverts always look very polished!!

Local butchers and farm shops. I might get the odd chicken from Tesco but Berber red meat.

Gardeninginsummer1 · 19/09/2018 20:37

*never

Gardeninginsummer1 · 19/09/2018 20:38

I felt the muscle food was really awful. We tried it once but it felt like cheap meat... flavourless and unappealing.

stressedoutpa · 19/09/2018 20:39

Mainly Waitrose or M&S.

Florries · 19/09/2018 20:39

Aldi.

Frozen chicken breasts are 100% chicken breast - no added water.

If I could afford the butcher, I'd go there though. Meat is always nicer from the butcher.

tissuesosoft · 19/09/2018 20:41

Muscle food is all lean meat- the vast majority is certified under 5% fat. Freezes well too. When I’ve defrosted the chicken breasts they leave quarter of the water compared to Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s.

I ordered the £39 offer.

beeefcake · 19/09/2018 20:42

Aldi, hands down the best meat.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/09/2018 20:43

Whichever supermarket I'm shopping from that week, it's fine.
I don't believe in free range etc when it's supermarket meat.
If I want something for a special occasion I use Farmison online.

Kintan · 19/09/2018 20:44

Field and Flower when we can afford it, or Waitrose or M&S when we can’t. I wish we had a decent local butchers but we don’t.

AveEldon · 19/09/2018 20:44

Chicken from Sains
Sausages & mince from Tesco
Pork & meatballs from Waitrose

SevenOf1981 · 19/09/2018 20:44

Another muscle food buyer here.
Great choice, quality and price.
Customer service is good too.

As the meat is lean (not all) I guess it could be considered tasteless due to low fat, but it cooks well, isn't plumped up and doesn't shrink.

LargeGlassOfPepsi · 19/09/2018 20:48

We buy from our local farm but used to like Costco. I found Musclefood disgusting, especially the chicken. It smelled absolutely awful when I opened it. I don't like the meat from supermarkets but some Aldi meat is ok. I batch cook and fill my freezer so the farm shop suits us better as it saves us a long journey to Costco.

Furrycushion · 19/09/2018 20:51

Costco is good. I get my chicken breasts from Booker & freeze them all separately. They do "no added water" one & it makes so much difference. They are huge too, so we have one between two.

UbercornsGoggles · 19/09/2018 20:53

Costco meat is great, it's where we buy almost all of ours.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/09/2018 20:59

Lidl, local farm shop and sometimes the local market if I’m feeling particularly organised.

CakeNinja · 19/09/2018 21:04

We have 3 fantastic butchers within a 10 mile radius. Dp goes once a week (a Sunday usually, the best one is open on a Sunday!) to stock us up on meat for the week.

JellieEllie · 19/09/2018 21:06

Try find a wholesalers for meat around your area or online. We buy ours from one nearby which most bodybuilders and gym bunnies go to. Spend around £40 and meat lasts a month or longer if you freeze it down. It's usually all less than 5% fat too!

idontknowwhattosay · 19/09/2018 21:10

Think i might have to look into costco. They have been advertising at the local shopping centre. Do all of them sell the same items? My local one is Wembley if that makes a difference.
