What made your baby laugh for the very first time?

Hi all, just looking for some inspiration to make my LO laugh (she's 4 month old now). What made your babies let out their first giggle? Smile

OP posts:
Believeitornot · 16/09/2018 20:47

Leaning over them and tickling them with my hair when they were lying back.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 16/09/2018 20:48

Opening a packet of rattles. He laughed for the second time today when I played with a couple of balloons over his pram.

MrsTommyBanks · 16/09/2018 20:48

I fumbled during a night time nappy change and dropped him on the bed.
I was in bits out of guilt and he just played there. Chuckling.
He's 32 now and still an adrenaline junkie.

Laid not played

TheSheepofWallSt · 16/09/2018 20:49

When I made a spooky “whooooo” noise at Halloween. He was 6 weeks old and beside himself every time I did it Grin

Choice4567 · 16/09/2018 20:49

The sound of me laughing when I blew a raspberry on her tummy. My laugh is quite chucklesome apparently!

Bluntness100 · 16/09/2018 20:51

Yeah this is one I will never forgot. My husband opened a bottle of beer and it popped. And our daughter laughed like a drain. So he made the same noise again, and she did it again. Was totally random and so unexpected.

ShowOfHands · 16/09/2018 20:56

Just talking to DD in a v exaggerated sing songy voice worked. She also liked songs with actions.

DS laughed from birth. I thought I was hallucinating from lack of sleep or the gooooood drugs but the midwife confirmed that occasionally, newborn have a laughter reflex which is triggered whilst content. He giggled post feed and in his sleep.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 16/09/2018 20:58

Me adjusting the strap on the sling Hmm He was (and still is) a little weirdo.

Coconut0il · 16/09/2018 21:00

The episode of Bing where Flop scares away the goose caused DS2's first proper chuckle. Bop de bop de bopity bop!!!

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 16/09/2018 21:02

Shouting boo with a smiley face til they jumped and giggled at the same time!!

WeShouldOpenABar · 16/09/2018 21:05

I don't remember because he was smiling and laughing always in my memory, but the first genuine belly laugh was from a game of boo, he still likes being scared

Katedotness1963 · 16/09/2018 21:06

He burped, and burst into giggles.

tenbob · 16/09/2018 21:07

A really dramatic fake sneeze
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-CHOOO

Loved it every time

xoguineas · 16/09/2018 21:19

When I was dabbing her face dry with a towel. Hilarious apparently, although 3 months later she hates it!

UterusUterusGhali · 16/09/2018 21:23

Making fish noises or screwing your face up then bursting it into a grin always works ime.

This thread has made me smile so much!

BlueMoon33 · 16/09/2018 21:34

My DS did his second lot of giggles today, two weeks after his first lot!

Today it was an over dramatic cough that I did! Really tickled him!

Polestar50 · 16/09/2018 21:43

Saying “I’m going to get you” in a mock scary deep voice then doing gentle fish noise kisses up to his face then ducking to one side and doing raspberry noises on his neck.
I know it’s standard baby play but it totally worked for him.
At first he gave a sort of excited baby pant but it has now turned into giggles. It is so blimmin lovely!
Hope you get your first laughs soon OP. What they find funny can be pretty random!

Winterfellismyhome · 16/09/2018 21:45

Ds is 9 weeks and laughs in his sleep. Creepy

Polestar50 · 16/09/2018 21:46

Repetition and exaggeration are key I reckon. If yours smiles at something, keep doing that or similar and you’re sure to get a giggle at some point.

RedPandaMama · 16/09/2018 21:46

Spinning her around or throwing her on to a bundled up duvet (obviously very soft landing and gentle throw but still don't recommend) - she's one now and absolutely loves being chucked about! Sometimes she falls over and bangs her head and laughs, rough child!

Faster · 16/09/2018 21:47

No idea. But peekaboo is the funniest thing in his world right now!

MyAuntyBadger · 16/09/2018 21:49

Peek a boo, used to play it for ages when he was about 10 weeks old. He would proper belly laugh until out of breath, then I'd do it again for same result. It would amuse us both for hours. Tried it with dd at the same age and she looked at me like wtf is wrong with you?

timeforachangeithink · 16/09/2018 21:49

A huge sneeze by me.

BitchQueen90 · 16/09/2018 22:10

I can't even remember. Is that bad? Grin
