What made your baby laugh for the very first time?

Hi all, just looking for some inspiration to make my LO laugh (she's 4 month old now). What made your babies let out their first giggle? Smile

So many brilliant stories (especially the one with the beer Grin) and some great ideas to try on my little one! She's a really happy baby, smiling constantly, just haven't managed to make her laugh just yet, but I'm sure it'll be even more special once she does HaloStar

Clinking a spoon on the side of a cup had her absolutely rolling in the aisles. The four adults present (parents and grandparents) were all crying with laughter too. ❤️

SinkGirl · 16/09/2018 22:22

Stupid repetitive noises and movements got twin 1 giggling.

Then a very exaggerated game of peekaboo got them both laughing at the same time for the first time ever. Still one of my favourite ever memories, only bettered by them making each other laugh (back before they started ignoring each other unless they are fighting over a toy or bottle)

Also, the bit in Twirlywoos where there’s banging on the door and they all fall down. That was the first thing mine laughed at that wasn’t done by me or DH - shocked me so much that he was laughing at the TV!

HyggeMe · 16/09/2018 22:35

My son had a reaction to a set of his jabs, after being hot & screaming his head off all day we phoned the doctors to be told to bring him in that evening to be checked over.

We stripped him down to his nappy and the GP checked him over (while my son was propped on my lap) as soon as he got round to checking him with his stethoscope my son threw his head back and gave the biggest belly laugh.

After such a stressful day (and even without the crap day,) it was the best sound I had ever heard. The doctor was quite bemused and gave him a clean bill of health.

BumbleeBeeMe · 16/09/2018 22:45

Reindeer ears on Christmas Day, makes me tear up to think about it 😂

HearMeSnore · 16/09/2018 23:13

DH and I praised DD (age 6 weeks) for being a good girl on the long drive home from my parents' house (she slept most of the time and made happy gurgles while awake). We were just talking to her and smiling. She made an adorable little breathy chuckle. It was like the way Sheldon laughs.

Brenna24 · 16/09/2018 23:17

Kissing her tummy when I changed her nappy.

leasedaudi · 16/09/2018 23:31

Haha again with the hair tickling, he breathes in /gasps and goes all goofy when I let my hair down and slowly run it over his face..

But a loud cough / coughing fit sends him into cackles of laughter. Lucky I'm asthmatic! Cheeky boy!

Deadringer · 16/09/2018 23:31

I only remember because it was so strange. I was talking to my sister about orphanages in Romania (it was 1990) so a serious conversation and every time my sister opened her mouth my DD laughed. She had just turned 3 months and had never laughed before and it was proper, out loud, belly laughs. Funny enough whenever my sister visits my dog barks like mad whenever she speaks, it must be something about her voice. Confused

SuperSange · 16/09/2018 23:33

He had a pair of bootees; one with 'honk' and the other with 'beep' embroidered on. I'd grab them, shake them gently and say 'honk and beep' and he was properly belly laughing!! It was hilarious. Perhaps it was the Geordie accent. 😂

firsttimebabybirther · 16/09/2018 23:56

When I touched his nose with a toy and said "boop" he still loves that now. Another thing that has always made him laugh is if I shake my hair about like mad whilst shouting like a crazy person Grin

YouBetterWORK · 17/09/2018 00:54

I was leaning over her in the bath (she has one of those angelcare seats), and she kicked water up in my face. DH started laughing, and suddenly DD just giggled and giggled Grin

TeddyIsaHe · 17/09/2018 01:03

Her dad was holding her and I was doing a ridiculous dance and she properly belly-laughed. It was the best sound I’ve ever heard! She’s 20 months now and laughs every day, very happy little bean.

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea · 17/09/2018 01:53

It wasnt what first made ds laugh but it was my favourite time. In an episode of The Clangers (old one) where a tv is floating around and they catch it. When they turn it on and it makes a noise they run away scared. Ds was 7 months old and howled with laughter. His face went red and he fell over on to his side on to the bed which made me laugh. So he started falling over on purpose.amd checking my reaction. It was one of the best moments of my life because this little person.that relies on me for everything realised he could do something to make his mummy laugh so kept doing it. He's now a surly shaggy haired 14 year old who isn't overly affectionate (except when he's ill weirdly) but he still makes me laugh.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/09/2018 20:28

That's lovely Make!

There are a couple of very funny YouTube videos of a baby laughing at tearing paper, and golf on TV.

PoisonousSmurf · 18/09/2018 20:33

When my then 4 month DD was in the baby carrier and DH (he was carrying her) and I were walking up a steep hill and I fell over.
She shrieked with laughter.
So, of course I had to 'pretend' to fall over a few more times after that Grin

AgentCooper · 18/09/2018 20:36

Signing Feels Like I'm in Love by Kelly Marie and tapping his tummy in time to it Grin

MulticolourMophead · 18/09/2018 20:39

I can only remember for my eldest, but Ex was holding DD and Dad was blowing raspberries.

notacooldad · 18/09/2018 20:47

I can't remember how old DS was but he was sat on my knee at MIL's house and all of a sudden he started to giggle for no apparent reason. It was rather strange and lovely at the same time.
He liked one of us holding him and the other one kiss him on the top of his head. He would look around and make a coo-ing noise and then start laughing.

IJustLostTheGame · 18/09/2018 21:18

Me tripping over the rug, falling flat on my face and sending the clean washing flying.

Little sadist.

trevormcdonald · 18/09/2018 22:34

She laughed randomly while we were waiting in the queue at Dunelm Mills - we couldn't work out why but it was sooooo lovely 😊

ShoutyMcShoutFace · 19/09/2018 09:33

When I screamed because he had pulled a bit of my hair that was bunched up in his little fist. It was so lovely and unexpected I cried Grin

Neves7 · 21/09/2018 04:57

A little note card with the picture of a smiling face made of fruit. My daughter though this was the funniest thing ever!

PepperSteaks · 21/09/2018 06:44

Her Grandma tapping her bum while she was getting her nappy changed. Her first proper smile was after she had been sick all over herself (and Grandma!) and she looked so shocked I couldn’t help but laugh and she started grinning at me!
