My relationship is over and I really need to have a good cry to feel better, please send suggestions of heartbreak songs which will do the trick?

Not a heart break song but a song to pick yourself back up to: That's My Girl by Fifth Harmony Flowers

IndigoSpritz · 15/09/2018 20:09

Raaah. I remember it too, about 39 years ago. If you're going to be a one-hit wonder, make it a very soppy love song !

NearWildHeaven · 15/09/2018 20:12

Loads of great songs! All my suggestions are here I think but I second a poster from earlier... after your tears get this one from McAlmont and Butler on and belt it out. Onwards and upwards Thanks

Love song for a Vampire and walking on broken glass - Annie Lennox

Wake me up when September ends - Green Day

Torn - Natalie Imbruglia

BakerBear · 15/09/2018 20:16

Didn’t we almost have it all by Whitney Houston

Stay with me 'till dawn. Judi Tzuke
I need you. America

Chathamhouserules · 15/09/2018 20:17

Don't speak by no doubt!

YouWereRight · 15/09/2018 20:18

102 by Matty Healy or Somebody Else by the 1975.

IndigoSpritz · 15/09/2018 20:21

May I also recommend:

Always On My Mind by Elvis Presley (no other version cuts it);

Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye by Roberta Flack (written by Leonard Cohen);

What Now, My Love/Et Maintenant by Shirley Bassey, Gilbert Becaud etc;

Alone Again, Naturally by Gilbert O'Sullivan;

A couple of instrumentals:

Gymnopedies No.2 by Erik Satie;

Bouquet by Bobby Hutcherson.

Good listening and good luck !

Lots of songs make me weepy depending on circumstance. The one which is guaranteed to made me ugly cry though is Christina aguilera’s Beautiful. It was played at the funeral of a child and as soon as I hear it I am transported back to seeing that too small reed coffin. It came on in the pub the night of the funeral. My dh had taken me out for a quiet drink. I have no idea who put it on the juke box of this proper old man pub but it genuinely took the breath from me. Poor dh couldn’t work out what was wrong as I was practically hyperventilating

I hope you find your sound track op.

sparkling123 · 15/09/2018 20:37

Jose Gonzalez - hand on your heart, oh my god did I cry to that when I got dumped by my ex.

But then I stopped crying and started listening to mega cheesy Fleetwood Mac - go your own way and started thinking more along the lines of 'fuck him then' 👍

sparkling123 · 15/09/2018 20:40

@NearWildHeaven oh my god, YES! Perfect belter for that stage when you stop crying 👌

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/09/2018 20:42

I played this on repeat when I was almost suicidal over a break up in my early 20s.

I also love "Black" by Pearl Jam, and "Please Don't Leave Me" by Pink.

But really, I'd advise you listen to "Fuck You" by Ceelo Green, over and over and over.

TheEgyptianKing · 15/09/2018 20:44

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

The Living Years - Mike & the Mechanics

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/09/2018 20:45

I think one of the most comforting aspects of weepy break-up songs is knowing that someone else has been through this pain. And survived. And even thrived enough to create a wonderful, million-pound song out of the experience.

I always find that reassuring and inspiring.

iwearshortshorts · 15/09/2018 20:45

Break even- the script

IndigoSpritz · 15/09/2018 20:48

When it's all over, play December '63 by The Four Seasons. It's a great tonic. In the meantime, I urge you to avoid One More Try by George Michael. If I never hear that ruddy song again it will be too soon.

IndigoSpritz · 15/09/2018 20:53

All By Myself by Eric Carmen. A real classic.

When Will I See You Again ? by The Three Degrees (a song full of questions).

PestymcPestFace · 15/09/2018 20:53

The End - The Doors

Vagndidit · 15/09/2018 20:53

Tori Amos--her entire Little Earthquakes album is devastatingly emotional

notsomumsymum · 15/09/2018 20:58

Sara bareilles - gravity. Gets me every time!
Or the Tee and Mo goodnight song Blush

foxotterhare · 15/09/2018 20:59

Chris Eckman - Nothing left to hate.
