If money was no object....?

If you were independently wealthy and therefore you didn't need to work because of the money, how would you spend your time?

OP posts:

I'd relish at just being a lady of leisure until the novelty wore off.

Walk the school run, take the dog for a loooooong dog walk rather than a rushed 30 mins. Go to the gym. Sit n watch a film in the afternoon. Wall the school run again. Etc

Give it a few months then I'll be bored. I'd like to set up my own business probably home based PT for those with medical conditions. And as money would be no object I wouldn't be under as much pressure to create and maintain a client base so could be a bit more laid back with it and do it as and when

Jb291 · 15/09/2018 10:31

I would travel a lot. Have fab holidays in lovely places with my family. If money was no object I would probably buy and lovingly renovate properties. I would put more money into supporting charities. I would spend more time with my loved ones because at the minute it feels like I never see them because I'm at work all the time.

formerbabe · 15/09/2018 10:34

Gym

Swimming
Travelling
Eating out
Baking

Walking
Beauty treatments

Joinourclub · 15/09/2018 10:37

My youngest is not at school yet, so time us filled with her stuff. But in a few years:

Exercise
Art class
Volunteer work
Diy
Gardening - assuming that if money was no option, I’d buy a house with a big garden!

Sarahandduck18 · 15/09/2018 10:39

I’d still work.

I tried not working and hated it.

Walks/cafes/ reading/gym become boring when you’re on your own all the time because everyone else is at work.

treaclesoda · 15/09/2018 10:40

I'd spend my time learning new languages and new musical instruments, and going to the gym.

And do some voluntary work.

I think I could fill my days very nicely.

PodgeBod · 15/09/2018 10:42

Researching and planning luxury holidays, and then actually getting to take them.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 15/09/2018 10:43

This is my life.

I walk the dogs, cycle, potter, shop, make miniature dolls houses, read and watch a lot of telly. I also decorate, clean, rearrange stuff, write a bit and see friends.

It’s pretty bloody epic if I’m honest.

HenryInTheTunnel · 15/09/2018 11:38

This is what i think about when i need to get to sleep!

I would not want to change my life fundamentally as i would not want to alienate myself from my family and friends. So i would live in the same house, but just remodel it to a really high spec, or move a short distance to a bigger house in the same area.

I would leave my current job but I would want something else part time where I had colleagues, shared aims, work drama to keep things interesting.

Alternatively, i'd do degrees out of interest but i don't think the social side would be as good.

I'd go on two holidays a year and would have some paid childcare with us so that i could relax too.

I'd have a personal trainer and a part time housekeeper/ personal assistant who would do cleaning, laundry, food shopping and dull errands.

That's about it. I think leading a lavish lifetsyle could be quite isolating and it doesn't surprise me that people end uo unhappy

PJBanana · 15/09/2018 11:38

Travel, hike and cook, I imagine.

I think I would still like to work or at least volunteer a couple of days a week.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 15/09/2018 11:41

Volunteer more regularly.
Do masters degrees part time forever. I love studying.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 15/09/2018 11:46

ilovesooty · 15/09/2018 11:51

I'd still work. I like my job and I count nearly all my colleagues as my friends. I'd probably drop to a couple of midweek days though. I'd spend the rest of the time simply doing whatever I wanted day by day.

I'd take extended holiday outside the UK in a warm climate between November and March.

moredoll · 15/09/2018 11:54

I'd pay for an excellent nanny part time so I could write that book

maskingtape · 15/09/2018 11:58

I would help out at the school I currently work at (but many, many less hours!).
I'd travel and holiday regularly, visit the library and out for lunch.
I'd get a dog and do long walks. I'd go for massages and beauty treatments with some classes like cake decorating and I would like a personal trainer regularly.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 15/09/2018 12:02

What formerbabe said, except for baking.

I’d add knitting, sewing and cross stitching.
Travelling
Museums, galleries and places of interest.
My cleaner and ironing person would take care of household tasks.
There would be a lot of shopping.

marvelousways · 15/09/2018 14:29

Learn, travel, enjoy my kids

Amaaboutthis · 15/09/2018 14:42

I didn’t work for a year and it was boring as anything even though I could easily afford to indulge myself. I would carry on as before but I’d fly first class and have an ironing lady

kenandbarbie · 15/09/2018 14:53

Study at uni just for pleasure

crazydoglady6867 · 15/09/2018 15:02

Hiking, all over the world.

Pringlesaddict · 15/09/2018 15:03

I'd spend a few years travelling and get the children a private tutor to travel with us.

When I came home I'd probably buy a large farm and turn it in to a home for homeless mothers and children and fill it with scrawny sorry looking rescue chickens and just have a lovely commune.

theunsure · 15/09/2018 15:05

With horses.

I'd be able to have 2 or 3 in work (currently only have 1 who is semi-retired), I'd have a proper crack at Eventing and be able to hunt a full season.

It'd be bloody marvellous to be able to afford all that and not have work get in the way.
