If you were independently wealthy and therefore you didn't need to work because of the money, how would you spend your time?

Buy a house on the waterfront (Bosphorus in Istanbul springs to mind), have a boat, study art, travel, hopefully do something for a worthwhile charity ...

BitchQueen90 · 15/09/2018 15:14

Travel. I'd go to all the countries I want to visit (a long list).

I'd also do more volunteering for the charity I'm involved with, I do a few hours a week now but with my paid job and being a single mum to DS I don't have time to do any more.

Sitranced · 15/09/2018 16:02

Travel to every single country in the world.

AwkwardSquad · 15/09/2018 16:14

Travel. Buy a lovely (but not huge) detached house with some land, create a garden, grow veg. Some animals. Someone to look after it when we go travelling. Not sure what else - I’d need a good amount of time not working to get used to the idea before I decided what else to fill my time with, I think.

Though I don't work now, when I was younger I honestly couldn't imagine not working -I loved it - so I don't know.

If I was in good health I would try to be actively involved in a charity, make some use of the skills learned during working life. Definitely I would pamper myself a bit more and be a better support to my lovely husband.

I'm coming to the end of being off because of illness.

I'm sort-of well.

I'm doing different well-being classes, going to Health Seminars, getting involved with volunteering and I've got Pets and become more connected to Family, especially my Grandchildren. I also help out with Babysitting other people's children in my area.

If it was permanent, I'd throw in some travelling.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 15/09/2018 16:24

I would go back and work part time for a charity and go back to college to learn more about my passion (very hands on artsy, so no money in it!).

CigarsofthePharoahs · 15/09/2018 16:39

I'd hire others on to do all the boring jobs I hate and then just enjoy all the time! I'd also enjoy not being so bloody tired!
Traveling - oh yes. I'd like to see places of historical interest, whilst at the same time paying for my children to be all expenses paid at Disneyland or similar. Everyone would be happy then!
Bigger house - very much yes!
I'd love to learn to fly a plane, though I suspect I'd be quite crap at it.
And then, when I've been everywhere and done everything I want, I'd spend ££ on a souped up PC and play all my favourite games.

grumpy4squash · 15/09/2018 16:41

I have no idea what I would do! I like work - the pressure, the structure, the day to day demands. Maybe I would still work, although that sounds a bit unimaginative!

There is an entire planet outside my front door, of which I have only seen a tiny fraction. I might consider working after I had explored it properly.

I’d ingulge my love of learning things for the sake of learning them. New languages and instruments and a PHD in the historical period that most fascinates me.

fussychica · 15/09/2018 18:27

This is my life, although I'm not wealthy and don't spend pots of cash. I retired early and now spend half my time mainly in Spain and half in the UK.
It's great but Brexit will probably cock the whole thing up.
I read quite a bit, socialize, play tennis and do lots of walking.
If money were no object and I could charter my own plane I'd go further afield and stay in more beautiful properties.

Gardening & learning how to sail a dingy. Then if I eventually got bored (which I would) emergency foster care for local authority.
