I didn't - ds had been at nursery since he was a baby, so waving him off to another setting didn't seem particularly traumatic. But then I'm not emotional about school stuff in general tbh

CharlieandLolaCat · 12/09/2018 21:23

Nope. I didn't. But that was last week. This week after a week of juggling work and school (which seems a lot harder than work and nursery) and an exhausted 4 yr old I have had a cry.

BikeRunSki · 12/09/2018 21:24

Nope

I ran out of the playground punching the air.

Ellieboolou27 · 12/09/2018 21:25

God no! I cried with relief at some me time. Grin

QuietNinjaTardis · 12/09/2018 21:26

I teared up a bit. Thought I’d be in floods as my dd has selective mutism and I knew she’d find it hard but I think my ‘must be cheerful for her’ mindset stood me in good stead. My friend cried but her dd was proper sobbing so could understand that being upsetting.

mnahmnah · 12/09/2018 21:26

Nope! Just excited for him and proud. He was happy, so I was too

DramaAlpaca · 12/09/2018 21:26

I ran out of the playground punching the air.

Me too, especially when the youngest one started. Freedom!!

newyearwhoohoo · 12/09/2018 21:27

I ran out of the playground punching the air.
Grin
Love that!
I didn't cry but I did when DS started secondary and probably will next year when he leaves!

Cachailleacha · 12/09/2018 21:36

No, but he was more than ready. I think it would be different if a child was too socially or emotionally too young and you didn't feel they were ready for the step up.

Blankiefan · 12/09/2018 21:39

No. DD was in full time nursery from 6 months so totally used to her being elsewhere. I felt proud of her looking so grown up but not a tear was shed.

I was at the front of the conga line full of ex-nursery parents rejoicing at the end of nursery fees!

EthelHornsby · 12/09/2018 21:40

Don’t understand why you would - aren’t you happy that they are moving on to the next life stage? (and punching the air!)

TheNavigator · 12/09/2018 21:40

No, I am not a crier in general. Others are. No right or wrong, as long as the adult blubbing doesn't upset the child.

CarolDanvers · 12/09/2018 21:42

No, you're a cool and edgy hands off parent. Go you! 👊

That's what you want to hear isn't it?

LardLizard · 12/09/2018 21:48

I wouldn’t describe myself as hands off, being a stay at home mum😂

Perhaps cool though 😎😉

I cried but quite a few other Mums didn’t.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/09/2018 21:51

I didn’t , I did cry when she went back this year though , several years on.

JynxaSmoochum · 12/09/2018 21:52

Mine are the charge off and don't look back types... just as well as they don't see me skipping off with glee Grin

It's the end of the school year that makes me emotional.

InDubiousBattle · 12/09/2018 21:53

I cried, but I don't think it's odd not to.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 12/09/2018 21:54

I cried because the school was so awful

He stayed there three days

But I don’t cry at the end of term either it can all get a little competitive I am such an emotionally mummy because my children are my world Hmm

RememberUs · 12/09/2018 21:55

Nope. DD1 started preschool at 2y9m neithe4 of us cried
Nor on any other year start date
Not even when we left her at her halls for the first day of uni

It is not that we aren’t close or don’t show our affection, we just saw each event as an exciting adventure. I am certainly not cool.

CryingMessFFS · 12/09/2018 21:55

No it’s not weird not to. Weirdly I didn’t cry the morning he started (I was just relieved he went in happy and smiling) but the last few days at pick up seeing his little face light up when he sees me has made me well up a bit 😂 so I think I’ve got the tearfulness the wrong way round.

Casmama · 12/09/2018 21:59

A bit snide CarolDanvers!
I didn’t cry either- not odd.

StressedToTheMaxx · 12/09/2018 22:00

When my dc1 started school I was so happy for her. She was nervous but excited.
But when she moved front the little playground to the big play ground (9 years) that was a different story. We got there she walked off confidently without a look back. I must say I ran to the car and had a little cry. 😂

BakedBeans47 · 12/09/2018 22:09

I didn’t, the eldest leaving primary school was emotional though
