What are the chances anyone could identify this song?

I have an ear worm and would love to look up the song on Spotify but I can't place it.

I think it's a Mexican song. Probably 20-30 + years old. It's sung in Spanish. I don't remember the words. It's got something like bell trilling or a cow bell being played in it. The rythm is upbeat and the words go to the rythm of da da da da da... da da da ... da da da da da... da da da.

Anyone have any ideas?

My husband submits "El Baile del Perrito" by Wilfrido Vargas as a suggestion 😁

3luckystars · 11/09/2018 21:28

Sorry I just read your latest post that it’s a male voice.

Was it a dance song or a slow song? Did you hear it on holidays or here?

PuntCuffin · 11/09/2018 21:29

I know it won’t be as he is too old, but I just had to come back to say Julio Iglesias. Takes me back to my childhood. My mother had such a crush!

dudsville · 11/09/2018 21:32

I'm going to try to describe the rythm of the words more. Vain hope but here goes.

For the first da da da da da it's just up and down between 2 notes, like down up down up down.

The next bit is actually da daa da, so the middle word or sound is held a best longer. And it's two notes but down up up. If you see what I mean?

So down up down up down... down up up...down up down up down. .. down up up.

(I swear I've not had any alcohol)

dudsville · 11/09/2018 21:36

Please thank your husband but it's not that very perky number.

It's a mid tempo song Lucky. I heard it in my youth but I can't recall the context!

Whew! So relieved, I have been trawling through the list of ‘90’s Spanish songs’ and some of them are bad! At least I can sleep now.

mansplain111 · 11/09/2018 21:39

Thank goodness!
The moment I listened to that, I knew it would be. It’s a bit older than 20 years though.

Next question is why did you want to know? It seemed like you had to consult someone else to check you were right ?

ShirleyPhallus · 11/09/2018 21:47

It makes me so glad when these threads have a resolution to them!

dudsville · 11/09/2018 21:47

I had to consult spotify punt!

I can't hear the cowbell in that. Confused

dudsville · 11/09/2018 21:57

You're right mip. My recollection was wayward and led me down a strange cow bell alley.

Thanks everyone, good night!

OP posts:
mansplain111 · 11/09/2018 22:02

It needed more cowbell

PuntCuffin · 11/09/2018 22:19

There is cowbell in it, keeping the background rhythm.

There is another Santana song which has a similar feel with more cowbell.

MipMipMip · 11/09/2018 22:50

It's strange the way memorial are skewed. I remember my 3rd birthday with a pink overtone, like a sepia photograph. I can promise that there is no way my mum would have allowed a tenth of that pink into the house!
