For me it's three to four weeks and I'm wondering if that's normal or not Confused

Up to 6 weeks for a named GP, quicker if you don’t mind who you see.

Children or genuine emergency, same day if you start ringing at 8.30am.

They have now started a new triage system where you get a phone call from a GP and they can release appointments not available to receptionists.

Ooh don't know. I moved less than a year ago and haven't registered.

I have hospital this week but I just deal with them directly as it was a 999 case, I don't have to deal with referrals.

Since it's medication can't you just ask them to let you pick it up from the pharmacy? Previous doctors did that for me in the past

If you are prepared to sit and wait, same day - our GP has Open Surgery every day.
If you want a particular time or day or particular GP, then it seems to be anything between 1 and 3 weeks, depending on how fussy you are being.

tobee · 11/09/2018 22:48

Probably today or next day.

Not sure about emergency; a new group of gp s took over not long ago.

Nurse maybe sometime in the next 10 days. Kind of amazed it is so soon really.

FoxFoxSierra · 11/09/2018 22:54

No idea, going round in circles atm trying to register as the surgeries we are in catchment for are full and not accepting new patients and the others will not accept us as we are out of area. I'm on a mission to get it sorted this week though as I do need to get something checked out, hopefully it is not going to be a 6 week wait for an appointment after waiting so long already! At our last gp the longest any of us had to wait for something non urgent was 3 days.

IWantMyHatBack · 11/09/2018 23:03

Friday at 09:30, if I book it online.
For urgents (and we've had a few proper urgent ones), within a couple of hours.

9amtrain · 12/09/2018 04:01

Between 1 hour to 2 weeks depending on urgency.

MiniTheMinx · 12/09/2018 04:11

Same day here.

BillThePony · 12/09/2018 07:18

Within a week or so for a routine apt, if You need to see someone more urgently you can turn up between 10 and 11 then sit and wait have done this only once and waited about 45 mins which isn't too bad I think.

All in all my docs are pretty good.

DianaT1969 · 12/09/2018 07:28

3 weeks

Sharingtheload · 12/09/2018 07:59

Same day for an emergency. 4 weeks routine Confused

Bimgy85 · 12/09/2018 08:00

Same day usually if not too busy

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 08:02

About 6 weeks

They switch the appointment line off if it gets too busy and ive been trying for an appointment for days now

You can get lucky with cancellations if you can get through

And their triage system is very good

notacooldad · 12/09/2018 08:03

I needed a doctor on two separate unrelated occasions within the last six weeks. I was offered both appointments within the hour.

My son need an appointment in July. He phoned at around 16:00hrs and was offered an appointment for 09.40hrs the following day.

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 12/09/2018 08:05

I've just rang and got one for this morning, I don't know how people can wait a week If you're feeling poorly.

I'm in so much pain I'm dreading waiting 2 hours.

Jeippinghmip · 12/09/2018 08:12

To make a routine appointment it’s three to four weeks. They also have a walk in every day to see a triage nurse, who can get you in with the doctor if necessary. Once when I felt really ill, I ‘phoned at 4pm and was told to come down 50 minutes later to see the doctor.

whiskeysourpuss · 12/09/2018 08:15

Sneaks my docs has a policy of phoning up for a same day appointment in the morning... which is great if you need a quick appointment but I'd either have to take the morning off work & hope I got one early & go in late or call from work & hope I could get one late & leave early... or take a whole day off for a 5min appointment!

Thankfully I don't need to go very often but registering was an absolute joke... must collect a form in person (one morning/afternoon off), must return form with ID in person (another morning/afternoon off) then a new patient appointment with the nurse strangely this can be booked in advance so that she could tell me I'm relatively healthy but a bit fat (another morning/afternoon off) so 1.5 days holiday just to register!

thismeansnothing · 12/09/2018 08:18

If it's an emergency you could possibly get an appointment today depending what time you ring, or a sit and wait appointment or a telephone consult off the GP.

None emergency anything from 2-4 weeks

shirleyschmidt · 12/09/2018 08:21

Same day for emergency, and they have always been very good at in fitting my children at short notice if needed. A couple of weeks or so for a regular adult appointment.

MeAgainSparkle · 12/09/2018 08:31

Non urgent is two weeks but you have to get in quickly i.e for an appointment two weeks today I would need to phone in at 8am this morning.

Four urgent/same day appointments you need to queue up outside the surgery from 7.30am Shock

Heismyopendoor · 12/09/2018 08:34

Same day for an emergency. The gp calls you back if you request an emergency appointment and then decides if you need to come in or not. I’ve only used that option for my kids when they have needed antibiotics etc.

Other wise within a week but if you wanted a particular time, Thursday evening for example or a particular doctor then you would need to wait two or three weeks.

Very very large town outside Glasgow with dozens of doctor surgeries.

MeAgainSparkle · 12/09/2018 08:40

Sorry, for not 'Four'

CantWaitUntilTheWeekend · 12/09/2018 08:56

Emergency appointment today but you receive a call from a doctor first and are then triaged- sometimes just advice over the phone and maybe a prescription.

Routine appointment about 6 weeks.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 12/09/2018 08:58

Today if I needed one, whenever we need one it’s not a problem, I’m in Ireland
