Salad
1 tub Coleslaw
1 tub Potato salad

That sounds better.

Is there pudding? Or is that birthday cake?

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 11/09/2018 11:57

It might just be me who is greedy but for 8 adults I would say that's not enough food, especially when adding in 3 children including an 8 year old (most 8 year olds eat adult sized portions).

I really think in these situations it is better to have too much food rather than not enough. I know for certain that if I invited my 8 closest 8 adult friends each one would be able to eat a supermarket 10" pizza with no difficulty.

PenApple · 11/09/2018 11:58

For a birthday tea I would add sausage rolls, cocktail sausages etc. Plus cupcakes & other treats.

My oven can’t cook more than 3 pizzas at a time though so my mind is boggling with how you’ll get them all cooked together.

Those 2 pepperoni pizzas would be gone in 2 mins with my family of four... they wouldn't touch the spinach and ricotta ones... def need some chicken goujons or something to go with it all.

youngestisapsycho · 11/09/2018 12:01

Also I would put out bowls of doritos and various dips... they always get eaten and fill people up a bit before the main food.

3stonedown · 11/09/2018 12:08

I actually thought your original proposal was enough plus some birthday cake. And I have far from bird size portions

delphguelph · 11/09/2018 12:11

Needs more carbs I reckon

kaytee87 · 11/09/2018 12:11

I'd buy some chicken bits too

Pascha · 11/09/2018 12:19

I'm trying to avoid a table of multiple options. People are coming after work and school, nobody is expecting gourmet party nibbles. We just wanted to keep it simple after a long day with just easy pizza and birthday cake. I don't really want to go cooking chicken as well.

I can cook 2 pizza and 2 garlic bread at a time so I shall do the first batch when I get home, and wedges too when there's space.
And then when they are being eaten, stickers another 3 in the oven. This leaves 2 spare for anyone still hungry.

Mind you, if I'd lef the pizza and just done the Mumsnet Chicken I could have fed everyone and had spare for curry, sandwiches, fajitas and stock for the week...

You should have gone with a mumsnet chicken! Grin I think that should be enough.

Saggital · 11/09/2018 12:33

Calorie wise this is more than enough.

And that is probably the reason for divergent answers. Many people like to overload meals, some kind of insecurity about not getting enough to eat. No wonder obesity is rising.

Trialsmum · 11/09/2018 12:42

I think the original was enough. People might eat a whole pizza at home when presented with the whole thing but not at a party where they have to collect it slice by slice and there’s sides too.

sexnotgender · 11/09/2018 12:45

Guess I’m the only one that thinks that’s plenty!
I agree it is horribly carb heavy though.

SweetWinterRose · 11/09/2018 12:54

I’m new and I would like to know what is mumsnet chicken?

3stonedown · 11/09/2018 13:09

@SweetWinterRose I believe its a joke on mumsnet because there have been threads/posts where people have claimed they can feed a family of 5 on 1 chicken for 4 meals (example!).

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 11/09/2018 13:11

Calorie wise it’s fine. But we’d have three pizzas between five of us, two of whom are adults.

I’d get at least another two pizzas, unless you have an industrial kitchen you won’t be able to cook it all at once so you can just not cook them if you don’t need them.

Lwmommy · 11/09/2018 13:19

Your update at 11:52 sounds like plenty to make everyone feel stuffed and leave some extras for anyone wanting seconds.

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/09/2018 14:09

Depends what you mean by 'standard supermarket pizza'.

Those large ones from the pizza counter, loads of food. Smallish thin ones (maybe about 10 inch diameter), less so, although half a pizza this size, bit of garlic bread, plus salad, and coleslaw/potatoes, which most people probably won't touch is still a decent sized meal.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 11/09/2018 14:36

I would bung some jacket potatoes in the over and serve some toppings to go with them - bowl of grated cheese and tuna mayo. Should be enough with everything else you're offering.

ragged · 11/09/2018 14:47

Plenty imho. half a pizza each, assuming they are standard supermarket size, plus all the rest. Tonnes.

BabySharkAteMyHamster · 11/09/2018 14:56

I have an oven similar to this one. Cooking stacks of pizzas in it or multiple chickens never fails to bring great joy 😂😲😲

Is this enough food for 8 adults, 3 children?
LordOfTheFleas · 11/09/2018 15:03

Ooh!! EnvyI want one!!!

BabySharkAteMyHamster · 11/09/2018 15:06

Its bloody amazing. I always do a little bum wiggle dance when I get to use it properly Blush

I am the go to person for friends and family doing party buffets tho Hmm

Passthecake30 · 11/09/2018 15:12

Sounds ok to me, it wouldn't work at my house though as the grandparents won't eat pizza Hmm

I'd want lots of salad options and some grapes/strawberries/melon for pud as an alternative to cake, otherwise I'd go into a carb coma Smile
