These school shoes are quite trainer-y aren’t they?

DS1 starting reception this week. School repeatedly clear states trainer style shoes WILL NOT be tolerated. Shoe shop trip today and while I was stopping 14-month-old DS2 going loopy and eating/ throwing all the other shoes DH and DS1 purchased these. (I thought they had decided on a different pair, didn’t check til we were home.) I think they need to go back, DH thinks I’m being OTT. I’m pretty sure they are the definition of trainer style though Hmm.

I would identify those as trainers I’m afraid

ShatnersBassoon · 08/09/2018 21:24

No, they're standard issue infant shoes, not trainers. They're not expecting little ones to be wearing laced Oxfords.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/09/2018 21:24

Trainers, sorry.

They're fine

Hoppinggreen · 08/09/2018 21:25

I don’t know
No trainers at DS School and he’s had similar pairs since he started 5 years ago.

ShatnersBassoon · 08/09/2018 21:25

Really?! I'd say they're just leather shoes with velcro fastening.

Chrisinthemorning · 08/09/2018 21:25

DS had those last year- school absolutely fine and it’s a prep school who are quite tight on uniform. I think they’re fine.

Taylor22 · 08/09/2018 21:25

My DS has similar ones. But they look a lot more trainery. Three straps and everything (these make him run faster..)

I purchased them from Clarks and they are black like yours.

They are 4 years old!! No one is going to rock up to Reception in Brogues

SleepyMcEdie · 08/09/2018 21:26

They look perfectly suitable shoes for a 4 year old to me. Hard soled leather Oxford shoes are not supportive in the right places for growing feet.

fascinated · 08/09/2018 21:27

Most kids in my DS’s class have these - fine

FemaleDilbert · 08/09/2018 21:27

They will be fine

mydogishot · 08/09/2018 21:27

Trainers.

Wouldn't be allowed in my local schools.

WillyWasAWatchdog · 08/09/2018 21:28

Trainers

IWantMyHatBack · 08/09/2018 21:28

Every single boy in DS reception class has shoes just like these.

ThePricklySheep · 08/09/2018 21:29

Do you know anyone already at the school? Or a friend of a friend? I think you need to ask someone who knows the school.

ILoveMyMonkey · 08/09/2018 21:29

Primary school teacher here, they're fine. That is exactly the type of shoe that 99% of boys will be wearing , and if you Google Clarke's school shoes they have similar styles. It's all good.

BitchPeas · 08/09/2018 21:31

Looks like every single pair of shoes I’ve seen on a primary age school boy.

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 08/09/2018 21:31

Pretty much all styles of young boys shoes look like this don’t they? I’m sure a £40+ pair of Geox designed school shoes are not what the school was aiming at banning.

Trialsmum · 08/09/2018 21:32

They’re fine, what they’re trying to stop is the ones with with black Nike ticks/ Adidas stripes on.

babypossum · 08/09/2018 21:34

Our DS has had those for a few years and Geox call them school shoes. I think they're absolutely fine and they also wear really well.

GreenTulips · 08/09/2018 21:36

All the boys wear those, make sure you name them, they are fine.

Doje · 08/09/2018 21:37

Fine for school shoes. DS started this week and he, and all the other boys are in something similar.

Pixie2015 · 08/09/2018 21:38

They are perfect my sons school has strict uniform policy and he and all his friends had this type of style from Clark’s

ThePricklySheep · 08/09/2018 21:40

Oh I know, do they have a website with any photos on? Can you make out any shoes?
