If you have primary age DC, what is on their bedroom walls???!

Currently doing up DS' bedroom (he's 6).

So far we have:
Cabin bed
Wardrobes
Drawers
Desk & chair
Storage toy box

So furniture / storage is pretty much sorted.

But his walls seem bare!! Especially one which doesn't have any furniture near it. It's painted white too so I feel it needs something.

So what do your DC have on their walls?
Posters? Notice board? Photos? And of What????

The bedroom doesn't have a theme - it's just white/ blue/ grey.

Thank you!

Ds is six and one wall has a space decal then there are other bits dotted around. he lives this next to his bed, then there are couple of big pictures he’s made, one wall full of certificates from clubs and school and lots of aliens, stars and spaceships. He has the best room in the house tbh we all love it Grin

Sarahandduck18 · 08/09/2018 08:18

Fairy lights.

School achievement certificates

Their own art

Pictures of animals from kids magazines

Mirror

Dream catcher

Canvas painting of favourite tv show

Dadsbigsausages · 08/09/2018 08:18

Ds (6) also has a space theme. Plain white walls with big rocket stickers and astronauts and on one wall all the planets and their moons and the sun in individual stickers in order. One wall also has a matching border with the individual wall stickers.
(All from Amazon-matching headboard and bed set too).

Since starting school he's also covered one wall with all his certificates and swimming. Awards.

However we decorated the room when he was 4, now he's 6 he wants minecraft theme. As we just bought removable stickers we are going to replace them with minecraft ones and get the wall mountable minecraft torch etc.

He also has the best room in the house 😄

10 year old - film posters (Harry Potter, X Men, Goonies etc), 2 notice boards with photos of friends, cinema ticket stubs, admission tickets etc and keyrings on them.

7 year old - notice boards again with photos of friends, holidays, days out etc. Posters of "cute" baby animals.

And they both have Ikea hook type things on various walls for headphones, bags, necklaces etc.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 08/09/2018 09:26

And what's the best thing to stick pictures/ posters on the walls with??
Sellotape/ blue tac / drawing pins would all leave marks - on our lovely newly painted white wall...!!!! Confused

Another space theme here for DS 6. 1 wall is a space mural with space sticker decals on cupboard doors etc. We have a space theme height chart where we measure and mark his height/date. That's it really. He loves it.

For a short time I had a mosquito net up, a black one. Just for fun and to make it feel space like and special. I also had one of those foil curtains up at his door. We did a grand unveiling and it made the whole thing really exciting for him.

Ds is 6.

He has wall stickers (various transport ones) on his walls. Plus a couple of pictures he’s coloured in, and then a couple of (framed) pictures.

Wall stickers are easy as then you can change the theme whenever needed.

As for sticking stuff up - wall stickers remove easily with no marks. Otherwise, I’ve just accepted that the walls will mark. This is not such an issue in his bedroom, as most of the certificates, achievements etc get stuck up in the playroom, but the walls there are already marked up and so be it. I’d rather have a home which they feel comfortable in and feel is theirs too, than a pristine show home with no wall marks but also no pictures/achievements/craft on show.

5 and 8yr old here. The 5yr old has pale blue walls with car and road stickers, plus some signed race driver pics from a meeting we went to a few weeks ago. I anticipate an update sometime next year.

Ds1 has green and cream walls with plane stickers, mainly spitfires and the like. He also has a racing calendar and signed picture like his brother, a blue planet poster and his name in wooden letters. His room is not themed and has just developed over time.

leccybill · 08/09/2018 09:37

Sticker decals are good. They peel off easily as their tastes change.

Dadsbigsausages · 08/09/2018 09:54

Yes the sticker decals are great, ds has peeled some off the wall to reposition and there were no marks left.

BrokenWing · 08/09/2018 09:55

One wall has a huge football on it (wallpaper), the other has two framed maxi posters which get changed now and again, usually favourite team/player football posters.

We got a load of white frames and then got posters (a4 ish size) from Etsy. They have two sets of four. Also have a large canvas each and a noticeboard.

They did have a massive wall sticker up in the last house which are meant to peel off again if you take a hairdryer to them.

NoSleepzzzz · 08/09/2018 10:04

My dd's walls are covered in rainbow coloured sprinkle wall stickers. It makes the whole room feel like it's "full" rather than plain bleak walls. There are loads of lovely different designs of little wall stickers that you could use to make his room feel less plain. I got ours off Etsy.

thismeansnothing · 08/09/2018 10:06

DD is 6.

She has some green bunting from when she was a baby.
And a A1 framed print of the 60s disney 101 dalmations film poster

Looking for a nice kikis delivery service or totoro poster for her other wall

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 08/09/2018 10:12

Graffiti art we bought from a trendy Argentinian collective that they do not appreciate.

Posters of animals from their National Geographic Kids magazine.

A poster of Taylor Swift.

A stuffed toy animal head.

Cloud stickers and bunting.

Stickers and marker pen drawings in the corner by their bed. Angry

BevBrook · 08/09/2018 10:14

Ten year old DS but retaining many of the elements from when the room was decorated when he was 5 (the room theme is purportedly blue and red, the walls are painted blue).

Wall sticker of racing track with colourful cars on one wall
Picture frame with three postcards of Ladybird book front covers, on picture hook
Wooden growth chart in shape of red London bus, hanging from hook
His own scruffy Star Wars posters from magazines tacked up with blu tac
Glow in the dark stars
Red and blue bunting
Wallpaper with blue and red cars on in the two niches next to the chimney, although you can barely see it for the stuff on the shelves.

Boysnme · 08/09/2018 10:16

9 year old DS has minecraft stickers, the ones where it looks like they are mining through his wall.

7 year old DS has Spider-Man ones

Catquest1 · 08/09/2018 10:16

Errr ds 8 cross stitch of when they were born. Football calendar. Christening plate. Framed signed photo and letter from his favourite band (pride and joy!)

Ds 4 clock, cross stitch, lovely inital painting done at nursery, train picture, train plate (pride and joy)

Both have wall bookshelves too

WhenTheDragonsCame · 08/09/2018 11:15

My DD(10) and DD(8) share a room. They have lots and lots of baby pictures of themselves that they found and stuck to the wall with blue tac!

They also have a clock and my little pony calendar. They don't have a lot of wall space as they have bunk beds, 2 x wardrobes, 2 x chest of drawers, book case, toy chest and giant pin board their granddad made for them.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 08/09/2018 11:18

Have a look online for art decals. You can find some great stuff at decent prices.

SilentHeadphones · 08/09/2018 11:24

Mine have alphabet, number chart, calendar. 8 year old had holiday photos til he smashed the frame in a meltdown 6 year old a print. Then they both have posters made in the "quiet corner" at one of their birthday parties. 8 year old has a couple of posters out of DK books.

MrsPear · 08/09/2018 12:12

Ds 1 age 8 has vinyl stickers - Superhero’s - they do not mark and peel. I had to demonstrate to LL on inspection! Plus a pin board where he puts school stuff and posters - currently Lego ninjas. It is big.
Ds2 age 5 just the stickers - Thomas - but plan to get him a pin board too. It is silver metal frame with blue middle.

LinoleumBlownapart · 08/09/2018 12:26

We got some little colourful photo frames from Ikea and some postcards from museums or galleries of things/art they like. One is obsessed with planes so he has his favourite planes from various museums and a big metal picture of the battle of Britain memorial flight.

elQuintoConyo · 08/09/2018 18:21

DS 6 has green-checked and orange-checked bunting from when he was a baby (very halloween!).

6 posters of our local festival that happens in September. We'll get the 7th next week.

All the postcards people have sent him from their holidays etc, about 30! He loves getting postcards.

And (possibly outing myself...) a copy of Joan Miro's The Dancer that i painted for him. His class did an excursion to an art gallery that that had an exhibition of his on, now every painiting he sees that he likes, he tells me Miro painted it Grin

I plan on printing some photos to go in a handful of 10x15 frames of him+dog, him+GPs etc. He'll like that.
