Nursery fees .......ouch

GawdNurseryFees · 06/09/2018 17:43

I’ve just got DSs invoice for this term (term time nursery not open in the holidays)

She goes for three full days split into six sessons (morning/lunch club/afternoon)

We provide lunch.

After her 15hrs are taken off the bill for the whole term is £994

£669 for her sessions
£240 for “lunch” (the 15mins between the morning and afternoon session)
£59 for French/Spanish (compulsory if they are there on a Monday morning)
£60 for snack

Does that all seem reasonable? It seems huge to me!

We pay £800 a month for 2 days a week! Sad

heartsease68 · 06/09/2018 18:16

9-5.30

NerrSnerr · 06/09/2018 18:19

We pay £530 per month for 3 full days with no free hours

We paid £250 a month for 3 full days with 30 hours funding (which included meals).

That's with no extra classes. Is a term basically 3 months worth? That doesn't seem so bad with the extra stuff.

I'm shocked at these prices!

I'm in the north-west. Last month's bill was £780 for five full days, available hours from 8am to 6pm and breakfast, lunch and snacks all included.

NerrSnerr · 06/09/2018 18:20

Our days are 8-6 as well.

BeeFarseer · 06/09/2018 18:20

Forgot to say, that's the full cost with no free hours or childcare vouchers taken into account.

Camomila · 06/09/2018 18:27

DS's nursery is £44 for 8-4 or £55 for 8-6.
That includes nappies, meals, and all extras like Spanish and Forest School.

I think that's really good for the SE. And they have pet chickens! (The best bit obvs.)

I have known what the current fees are for nursery places. I see that mostly nurseries are open from 7.30 am at the earliest and 6 pm at the latest known time on this thread. If there were nurseries which catered for the children of shift workers I assume that the fees would be even higher. I would even wonder if it was worth working if such amounts were charged to care for children whose parents are at work.
I have looked after children for shift workers I can just imagine how much I have saved the parents

Stillme1 · 06/09/2018 18:46

That should have been "I have NOT known" what the current nurseries fees are.

Bear2014 · 06/09/2018 18:47

Yep that's steep! DD's fees for 3 days a week (8-6) were £114 per month when she got her 30 hours. We're in London but it's a not-for-profit nursery that's part of a Childrens Centre.

user1471426142 · 06/09/2018 19:07

That is quite steep. My fees are £64 per day 8-6 including all food, forest school, drama and sports. If we were in on a different day French would be included. Fees will drop once we hit the 15 hours. Depending on how many weeks in the month we’re between £768 and £960.

GawdNurseryFees · 06/09/2018 19:11

Noooo it’s not attached to any school. Just a private nursery. Montessori though

Per term or per month?

That's not bad per term. We pay £1050 for a month -DS is full time

Pompom42 · 06/09/2018 19:14

Nursery I work in is £65 daily includes all food. So 3 full days over a month would be £780

RJnomore1 · 06/09/2018 19:16

How long is your term?

BifsWif · 06/09/2018 19:16

I’ve been laying £600 per month for 3 x half days a week.

My DD was funded from this month, so it’s not around £40 per month - she gets 30 hours and we pay a £3 top up charge per session.

BifsWif · 06/09/2018 19:16

Now*

Worieddd · 06/09/2018 19:19

We pay £550 a month for 3 full days including all food 8-6, it’s not halved to £230 ish as we get the 30 Free hours - that’s term time and holidays included.

Worieddd · 06/09/2018 19:20

*its now halved

user1471426142 · 06/09/2018 19:20

Oh just noticed term and not monthly. That probably isn’t so bad.

Treacletoots · 06/09/2018 19:24

£58 a day here for 8-6, so for 3.5 days a week we pay just under £800 a month!

Equimum · 06/09/2018 19:38

It depends what type of nursery it is. Our DS goes to a small private nursery that operates on a 9-3, term-time only basis. It is more of a nursery school than a day nursery, and we pay about £800/term for two days (he’s three and that includes 8 ‘free hours/week’). Is the nursery something like that?

Ullupullu · 06/09/2018 19:41

Can you clarify how many weeks that total cost covers OP? A term is 12 weeks isn't it?

topsyanddim · 06/09/2018 19:43

Ours is a Montessori - we paid between £700-£850 a month before she was 3 (dependent on days in month) and now we get the free hours our last bill was c. £250 for 3.5 days a week. Lunch included. 8-6. 364 days a year.

Scotinoz · 06/09/2018 19:45

Our kids preschool was £55/full day, including lunch, trips etc but excluding Forest School, French School, Ski School and the like.

It's expensive for the area, but not 'the South' expensive.
