Facebook local page has been going mental. Do you want screenshots?

Would I have to remove everyone's Facebook names?

The Christmas Shop

LonginesPrime · 06/09/2018 08:48

Judith's website directs customers to the free parking at the village hall on Oak Street!

It's a shame Pete doesn't know this, although this feels rather like a wildlife documentary where intervening would ruin everything.

Leliana · 06/09/2018 08:57

@bunintheoven88 I went to school in Maghull! I left the place as soon as possible, though, so I have no idea what the smell in the air is Blush

PositivelyPERF · 06/09/2018 09:01

Thank you for that, EvilRingahBitch. I think we should all order something from judith’s Shop. I can just see her sitting there thinking 🤔 ‘but that delivery is for Belfast and that ones for Glasgow. Wait! That ones for Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Wales!” Confused

JacquesHammer · 06/09/2018 09:14

Ah I love a local FB page parking ding dong.

We have one that rumbles on and on.

Jane (*names changed to protect the not-so-innocent) puts a rant on local FB page about people parking in front of her gran’s house. Public road, not blocking access etc but they shouldn’t because people might want to visit her gran.

Someone pipes up “but Jane, you drive and park on x road to commute”.

The ensuing battle over why that is different was a joy to behold Grin

Figmentofimagination · 06/09/2018 11:22

We've had the same Jaqueshammer. One woman posted a rant with photos of a car parked outside her house, saying this car was blocking access to their house and they need access for ambulances for her sister. She kept going on about how the woman wasn't even visiting anyone on the street but going somewhere round the corner, and that she was rude as she wouldn't move the car when told she can't park there.

Everyone shot her down with facts saying the woman wasn't illegally parked, the car wasn't parked over a dipped curb, the house was a corner house so had lots of space for ambulances to access the house, and there was no double yellow lines. In the end they deleted the post as the original poster turned abusive to everyone else pointing out she was wrong.

LifeHackQueens · 06/09/2018 11:38

Is it sad I'm so excited over drama in a place where I live nowhere near and have never heard of? 😂 I love the idea of a Christmas shop. If it weren't for the lack of parking, I could consider buying a property there Grin
Tbh it must be annoying for the local residents. Full marks op for best parking thread in a while.

QforCucumber · 06/09/2018 11:39

This is brilliant, we have a local FB page, which got closed down and opened under a different name and is now managed by a guy on my street who has requested that anyone wanting to be a member must state their address as he was sick of 'non locals' being a part of the group and this left people open to burglaries!

usernameblock · 06/09/2018 12:31

Great thread, thanks OP! But am now heavily invested in the goings on in Lechlade instead of working Blush. I love a good local FB page - ours is hilarious Smile

RubiksQueen · 06/09/2018 12:55

Ours is currently all about the fact we have new wheely bins and the big houses all LOVE them for all their tons of rubbish but us small houses hate them as we've nowhere to put them! Literally hundreds of posts about bins.

Anastassiabeaverhausen · 06/09/2018 13:55

“Do you by any chance know what a parking thread is Judith?”

😂😂😂

This thread has made my night. Richard is a right twat.

I'm on side with the cottage owners. It's clearly a private lane, Mike has the deeds! #teamcottages

I really want to order this village scene from The Christmas Shop.

OMG there's the best parking war in the next village over
BonfiresOfInsanity · 06/09/2018 14:56

Richard, for example, is a twat. Grin

BonfiresOfInsanity · 06/09/2018 14:58

#TeamCottages needs to buy a gate with their road fund to stop the CFs parking there.

LonginesPrime · 06/09/2018 15:27

Or #TeamCottages could make some money from Pete, who was perfectly happy to pay the owner in order to park there!

NicoAndTheNiners · 06/09/2018 15:45

I guess there’s a difference between an unadopted road a private road is there?

I used to live on an unadopted road which was a total mess, council refused to adopt it. But we didn’t own it, nobody had deeds. I assume many, many years ago the developers had owned it but they were long gone and didn’t actually exist as a company anymore?? Wouldn’t have crossed my mind to tell people it was private and they couldn’t park.

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/09/2018 15:54

I used to have a house that came with the responsibility to maintain an unadopted road, didn't have me rights to restrict access or parking though.

MakeItStopNeville · 06/09/2018 16:25

This was brilliant. Poor old Nigel and poor old Pete.

Our school district FB page got closed down as it was like Armageddon on there. Always the quickest way of working out who are the closet drinkers.

CliveIsAlive · 06/09/2018 17:38

I live in lechlade and walked down the lane yesterday to cut through to the Riverside pub so my DD could feed the ducks and I can confirm there were far fewer cars parked down the lane than usual. Fascinating stuff goes on in Lechlade Wink

Skimbleskanks · 06/09/2018 18:20

#teamcottages here. Amanda fan particularly but I like mike too. Laura comes across as a tool. And Larry, wading in with "I can clear this up.." with no basis, just random stuff from his mind Grin

Too weird to friend them all?

Skimbleskanks · 06/09/2018 18:20

@CliveIsAlive seriously? Do you know the people??

CliveIsAlive · 06/09/2018 18:30

I know Judith who owns the Christmas shop and recognise the faces of the others.but wouldn't have known their names. It's all to do with the marina. It Was owned by a family who basically went bust so the marina has pretty much just been left. The family who used to own the marina didn't care about people using it as access. This new guy who has bought it is doing it up and wants to restrict the access via foot. I always assumed the cottages down the lane were owned by the pub but seems not! I didn't know aboht the drama of the previous bollards that were put up by the Christmas shop.

Reaa · 06/09/2018 18:41

I want to adopt Daisy the cat

ZootSuit · 06/09/2018 20:43

I’m still feeling confused about the Christmas shop! Is it the Christmas shop, or the “old Christmas shop”? Is it open all year round?!

EvilRingahBitch · 06/09/2018 20:48

The Christmas shop moved locations in June 2016: hence “the old Christmas shop” still being used as local landmark. Yes it’s open all year round - did you not read the link????

PuntCuffin · 06/09/2018 20:58

I feel this may distract, but this gem is currently kicking off on one of my local pages....
