Looks like an adder to me! Shock

OohOohMrPeevly · 02/09/2018 18:43

agree adder - is it alive still?

Yourenotcrazyitsyourmother · 02/09/2018 18:43

Definitely adder

Glasstine · 02/09/2018 18:43

She was pissed off I took it off her and disappeared off out the window.

Deffo an adder!! Has the cat been bitten at all? If so, you may need to see a vet

Glasstine · 02/09/2018 18:44

Yes it’s alive although still in the garden, think it’s in shock. Can’t see any wounds on it

Definitely adder. Is it still alive? If it is ask a wildlife vet for advice - they're a protected species.

elephantoverthehill · 02/09/2018 18:46

Are you sure you have a cat or could it be a lion Grin

Melfish · 02/09/2018 18:52

I’d have fainted. Please don’t tell me you live in a London suburb?! To think I used to complain that the cat brought in frogs and earthworms.

myrtleWilson · 02/09/2018 18:54

Blimey - I know its is a subject that divides opinion but for this reason alone I'm glad our cats are indoor ones!

Glasstine · 02/09/2018 18:54

Lionish!

Essex, near woods and marshland. It’s not the first snake I’ve seen here

Glasstine · 02/09/2018 18:58

Reckon you’ll be ok in London!

What about Yorkshire 😱

SoleBizzz · 02/09/2018 19:02

Wow!!!! Wonder if added was dead when cat found it? I have never seen an added that long before.. Omg OP how you didn't SCREAM the place down and get into yoyr car and move out!!!!
Did you touch it?

CountFosco · 02/09/2018 19:02

Where do you like? It looks like an Adder but they only live in some areas.

Glasstine · 02/09/2018 19:05

Yes it was alive, it still is. I’ve just checked and it’s moved to the compost heap but it doesn’t seem well. Not moving fast or trying to hide.

I live in North Essex. I’ve seen an adder before basking on the road but it’s the first time the cats brought one in.

She just came walking through the door with it hanging from her mouth curled up in a knot Envy

Glasstine · 02/09/2018 19:05

No point in screaming, I’d rather take it out than let it loose in the house Shock

The snake needs to see a vet for antibiotics. Cats mouths contain some nasty bacteria and the snake will die a painful and frightening death if it’s not treated.

Can you retrieve it and keep it secure until tomorrow?

Imnotyourslave · 02/09/2018 19:10

It’s not an adder, it’s a grass snake.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 02/09/2018 19:11

It's an adder.
