How do you explain to your 5 year old that Netflix UK took their favourite show away?

Paw Patrol gone now. WHY? It's not like it's an unpopular show.

Does Netflix not understand the utter havoc this causes?

YouTube kids is absolutely not fine I agree with the OP on that.

All sorts of disturbing content gets in there, often with a 1 or 2 min intro of ‘real’ kid TV in order to fool you.

Some of it is very subtle too - backgrounds changed to include pornographic images etc - that a ‘supervising’ parent wouldn’t notice unless they were actually watching the screen the whole time (as opposed to half watching while cooking, for example). Some talented animators with sick minds get kicks from slipping past YouTube kids controls.

We don’t watch Netflix Kids anymore, just CBeebies. I like the fact they can’t get too attached to anything on CBeebies. Netflix got a bit too obsessively-watching-same-program-repeatedly for my liking.

Nooooo I did not know this! When did this happen????

TuckMyWin · 30/08/2018 09:26

I agree on YouTube kids. Went for a blood test for my 3 year old once and the nurses had a tablet to distract him with, and put 'Paw Patrol' on. My three year old was asking me for a week why the Paw Patrol aeroplane crashed in flames and what happened to the pups. On the plus side, he didn't notice the needle.

I generally have no parenting pearls to clutch but even I agree that YouTube, including the kids version, it’s an absolute no go for my young kids.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 30/08/2018 09:32

I feel the same about Preacher.😭

SilentHeadphones · 30/08/2018 09:37

No, really - NO responsible parent should ever let their child watch Youtube unsupervised even for 5 minutes, let alone half an hour while making food

I agree with you there. Learnt the hard way when I put My Little Pony on for DC's so I could cook in peace. My sprint for the remote broke all my records!

dizzydaisies · 30/08/2018 09:38

For the last few weeks on Netflix they've had a line in the paw patrol tab saying 'available until x'. Plenty of time to wean a 5 yr old off a programme!

farmerswifey2 · 30/08/2018 09:43

So many sanctimonious posts on the first page. I’m sure the opening poster reads to his or her child too Hmm

Not looking forward to when the little one asks for Paw Patrol later, especially if there isn’t Blaze as a back up.

cucumbergin · 30/08/2018 09:47

dizzydaisies Dammit, didn't see that. I guess we usually just plop straight into an episode from the what you've been watching list? Interesting to know they do actually put something on there.

Skyejuly · 30/08/2018 09:48

Dvd or something else?

FluffyMcCloud · 30/08/2018 09:49

Paw Patrol has finished for now. Let’s see what’s else there is!

Corbby1 · 30/08/2018 09:51

Oh god nooooooo! My 3yo will be heartbroken!!

noseoftralee · 30/08/2018 09:52

I knew this would be about Paw Patrol before I had even opened the thread .

NerrSnerr · 30/08/2018 09:53

Also we go outside and play.
Thank goodness you mentioned that. We now know you're such a good parent. I bet the OP has never taken her child out to play, they just watch Paw Patrol 13 hours a day...

HulaMelody · 30/08/2018 09:56

Simply point out that the mayor has created a ridiculous spending deficit with the elaborate interventions and equipment put into place to help the pups carry out straightforward tasks and the resulting recession has made Adventure Bay a miserable place.
Then move your D.C. on to the magic school bus or whatever!! Grin

I have so many question about this show. Does Adventure Bay local authority fund the operation? Do the pups have licences for the multitude of vehicles they operate? Does kitty have a death wish?

Queenofthedrivensnow · 30/08/2018 10:09

Dd2 and I were gutted when bubble guppies starts disappearing. They learn to like new things.

NoNoNoOohmaybe · 30/08/2018 10:14

Thank fuck! I hate those perky little shitheads.
I told mine paw patrol on Netflix had broken ages ago because I just cannot cope with how excitable and amenable the "pups" are. Urgh.

However then my husband let them watch llama llama... and it's worse.

They've just started getting into crystal maze, they don't have a scooby what's going on but least it's something we can all watch where I don't want to shoot myself in the face. Maybe try that?

5000KallaxHoles · 30/08/2018 10:22

Adventure Bay must be knee deep in dog shit by now.

And quite how Ryder has all the time to generate a little animation of Captain Turdbreath being stuck in the path of a runaway train and needing rescuing immediately to assemble for their little mission briefing is concerning.

And why exactly do they always insist on dragging Zuma to go along to the briefings... he's never picked to go out on a mission - surely it would be quicker to just page Chase and Rubble (cos it's always Chase, Rubble or Marshall we occasionally let Skye out to justify the merchandise ) directly and let the rest of them continue digging holes or humping the postman or whatever they do for fun.

NiamhNaomh · 30/08/2018 20:45

I feel your pain DS has Autism and the day Dora left our On Demand was a toughie, for all of us, it was his abductions kite obsession and my gosh do children with ASD obsess. But the good news is, he got over it. And as a PP said it was a life lesson. Best of luck, my thoughts are with you through this very hard time. Grin

NiamhNaomh · 30/08/2018 20:46

I have no idea where abductions kite came from, doh

Cantaana · 30/08/2018 21:12

I'm actually pleased they got rid of it because now i've had to go searching on Prime and have found they have ALL the episodes FREE so we have new ones to watch that Netflix never had.

And they have My Little Pony.

If it wasn't for Daniel and his bloody neighbourhood i'd probably cancel Netflix now. Maybe I can wean them off the remaining Netflix shows. At least if they come off prime you can still buy them.

Cantaana · 30/08/2018 21:14

PS OP Prime also has Blaze free, just in case things get desperate Grin

Mrsnaylor · 03/09/2018 09:03

ITS BACK!!!!!!!!!! Praise the netflix gods
