How do you explain to your 5 year old that Netflix UK took their favourite show away?

Paw Patrol gone now. WHY? It's not like it's an unpopular show.

Does Netflix not understand the utter havoc this causes?

I'm pretty sure you could find a DVD with episodes.

HarrietSchulenberg · 30/08/2018 09:00

Yeah, let Netflix keep the same programmes forever as we can't upset your precious petal. FFS, TV programmes change. Life changes. A 5yo is capable of understanding that.
Buy a DVD if she's that bothered by it.

I am with you OP, this caused a minor crisis in my house this morning. Although I was getting sick of it, so silver linings and all that!

"Sorry, DS, it's not on Netflix any more. What would you like to watch instead?"

If my DS made a fuss then I'd ban the TV for a while as he'd probably been watching it too much.

Bubblysqueak · 30/08/2018 09:05

It's on everyday on milkshake can you record them? If not Amazon prime have 6 seasons.

MynameisJune · 30/08/2018 09:06

It’s on milkshake every morning, you could record them so that he can watch them whenever he wants. First world problems.......

cucumbergin · 30/08/2018 09:06

It is light hearted (why would you think it wasn't?) but it's still annoying because there's no warning (that I saw anyway).

iPlayer removes stuff regularly, but they actually show a "available until...." so that you don't say "don't worry, you can watch the last episode tomorrow night", because you can see when it'll disappear.

It does seem poor design to take about 5 very popular shows off at the same time, with no warning. I think it's quite reasonable to be annoyed at that, even if you're five. Saying "oh no Paw Patrol, what about...oh wait that's gone too. What about...no that's gone. Er....and that too. And that...um..."

Not heard of milkshake? We tend to stick to either DVDs or Netflix.

I am glad that apparently Blaze and the bloody Monster Machines is gone though. So there's a silver lining.

Phew

JillCrewesmum · 30/08/2018 09:09

No, really - NO responsible parent should ever let their child watch Youtube unsupervised even for 5 minutes, let alone half an hour while making food

Are you serious?

You've got bigger issues than Netflix if you can't cope with this.

AmabelleOnabike · 30/08/2018 09:09

Won't somebody think of the children!!!

Hmm
JillCrewesmum · 30/08/2018 09:10

Yup

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 30/08/2018 09:12

My ds 3 just asked for paw patrol to be put on and I've just noticed it's disappeared off Netflix 🙈🙈🙈 who can I complain to 😂

NerrSnerr · 30/08/2018 09:12

Do you have a Smart TV? Let them watch it on YouTube on it, under supervision.

ziggiestardust · 30/08/2018 09:13

YouTube kids is fine OP. I’ve sat with my DC watching it and nothing ‘weird’ has come up.

If you’ve got sky+ or similar, set your box to record episodes. You can get good deals on the DVDs from Amazon too.

ILoveMyMonkey · 30/08/2018 09:15

It's on channel 5 on demand or whatever they call theirs (like iPlayer but channel 5's).

cucumbergin · 30/08/2018 09:15

Have you been under a rock? It's been in mainstream news since forever. Don't let your small kids Youtube alone, unless you're completely irresponsible as a parent. FFS. Supervised internet is basic parenting.

Channel 5 have Paw Patrol on on a morning (Milkshake is their morning kids TV section - kind of like we used to have the Broom Cupboard on BBC in days of yore on a morning) so there'll be some on there for terrestrial. It's on about 7.30 ish as I recall - depending on licencing there might be some on channel 5 catch up.

Or you can usually pick up a set of episodes on DVD fairly cheaply from somewhere like The Range or if the supermarket has a kids' DVD sale on... or fairly sure they're still on Amazon Prime.

They'll be back - Netflix often pull stuff and it comes back on a month later.

Incidentally even my emotionally very immature 5 year old can cope fine with "it's not on Netflix at the moment".

Mine are very into Treehouse Detectives on there if you want an alternative - there's also some hideous Nick Jr new one which basically seems to be the Paw Patrol with birds instead that they like (and I try to avoid like the plague).

WindyWednesday · 30/08/2018 09:17

I don’t know what Netflix is, I live under a rock. We have normal telly or dvds.

Also we go outside and play.

JillCrewesmum · 30/08/2018 09:17

God, calm down. Mine have watched YouTube without me breathing down their necks and they are absolutely fine. Go and buy a dvd if you are that freaked out by it.

hailstone1 · 30/08/2018 09:18

It used to be on now tv. I'm not sure if it still is. I cancelled the kids tv subscription as only had it while looking after my neice.

cucumbergin · 30/08/2018 09:18

Thanks to everyone giving suggestions for where else to get his Paw Patrol fix! May check some out, or possibly use it as an excuse to steer him towards something else.

OP posts:
5000KallaxHoles · 30/08/2018 09:19

Mine don't youtube alone - but I'll bung an episode of something on there while I'm pottering around in the same room as them and make sure I exit it as soon as the closing credits roll (it's usually absolutely ancient Auntie Mabel and Pippins that school have got them absolutely hooked on that we have to resort to youtubing).

lornathewizzard · 30/08/2018 09:20

Definitely still on now tv. Which has a great kids streaming service and only 3.99 a month I think, and you'll very likely get a free 14 day trial

hailstone1 · 30/08/2018 09:21

Looks promising
