Very tempted but, y'know, ouch and all that.

Mine healed quicker and easier than any other of my piercings and has definitely made a difference to the severity of my migraines too .

SouthWestmom · 29/08/2018 21:10

I'm so tempted. What jewellery though - does it matter?

I think it was too tight and that made me fiddle a bit with it, and then it got sore etc - awful though my ear looked like an elephants! I had to take it out and give up.

I have the ring with a ball on mine, will change it for a heart one probably when I can.
I think the jewellery you have it pierced with needs to allow for any swelling. I just went with what the piercer recommended.

Oh and I haven’t fiddled it at all. Just kept it clean and put some Savlon on in the early days and it’s been fine. Ached some days and occasionally throbbed a bit but nothing a couple of Ibuprofen couldn’t sort out.

Dermymc · 29/08/2018 21:34

I get auras and not that much pain. Would daith work for this?

SandAndSea · 29/08/2018 21:35

Some piercers use anaesthetic lotion which really helps with the pain.

SouthWestmom · 29/08/2018 21:37

Thank you - so tempted now and have two days off

Might help with auras but I've only heard re headache and migraine

Mine worked but the migraine moved to the other side. I had that side pierced too and I've not had a migraine for two years now.

WhatsYourFuckingProblem · 29/08/2018 21:41

Post a photo OP!!
I’d like to say it wasn’t too bad but I wouldn’t have the other side done.

BadHairDyeDay · 29/08/2018 21:49

I've had it done. Didn't help migraines at all. Looks good tho and teenage DCs think it's really cool (!)

TellMeItsNotTrue · 29/08/2018 21:54

I have migraines but haven't had this done as I've had 3 friends who have had it done

A) totally sceptical beforehand
B) not convinced it would help but optimistic and willing to give it a try
C) Totally convinced it would be the answer to her prayers and was trying to bully me in to having it done because I'd be stupid not to Hmm

A and C know each other, A had hers done a few months before C and had no change at all. C insisted it was because she was expecting to still have pain so she did, she needed to have a better attitude towards it all. C had it and any time headaches or migraines were mentioned she changed the subject, took it out after about a year and we aren't allowed to talk about it

B doesn't know anyone who had it done but was pretty much out of options so thought it was worth a try, she was very hopeful and somewhere between sceptical A and blind faith C, unfortunately it didn't help and she had some trouble with the piercing afterwards too. She has said maybe that's why it didn't help and if anyone asked then she wouldn't try to put them off it, would just say that it didn't work for her but that doesn't mean it won't work for them

SilverHairedCat · 29/08/2018 21:59

I had a black heart to have it pierced, but developed a lump so switched it out for a banana bar. Much more comfortable. Am now thinking about having the other one done too and will have a bar in that one.

I have a ring through the piercing now - about 2 years old. Used a septum ring for my wedding so I could have something sparkly!

SouthWestmom · 30/08/2018 02:42

@WhatsYourFuckingProblem - if I do it I will. Keep pinching my ear to see if I have enough skin there!

Shame about people who've had it done and had no results. (And not liked it)

Right I currently have a lingering from yesterday one so I'm heading off to see if I can get it done. Will report back.

Agentornika · 07/09/2018 12:42

I've was prescribed propanalol for migraine prevention over 6 month ago, only had 1 since because I forgot to take tabs on holiday, whereas before I was getting 3 or 4 a month

SouthWestmom · 07/09/2018 12:51

That's my next step if this doesn't work.

Currently terrified in the waiting room.

SilverHairedCat · 07/09/2018 13:22

How did it go?

Cocolepew · 07/09/2018 13:28

It helped me massively, I still would get them occasionally but they are easily controlled with painkillers, and only last a day.
I have the hoop and ball and have never bothered to change it.
I used saline lotion on a cotton bud to clean it.
Hope it works!

SouthWestmom · 07/09/2018 13:32

£51 incl saline and jewelled ends.

Not too bad at all.

Just fiddly with a clamp and getting the right position.

So, we shall see....

Anyone tried daith for migraine?
OP posts:
Cocolepew · 07/09/2018 13:36

Bloody hell £51? Mine was £25.
Looks nice, fingers crossed.

SouthWestmom · 07/09/2018 13:39

35 plus 10 plus 6 - basic plus jewels plus solution.

Tbh I can't really see the jewels!

Another lady was in there beforehand having the same thing. It's obviously becoming something people try.

sweetkitty · 07/09/2018 13:39

Yes didn’t work for me though

fantasmasgoria1 · 07/09/2018 14:01

Yes. I have had a couple of migraines since though so I’m unsure. But I like it so shall keep it!

fantasmasgoria1 · 07/09/2018 14:02

Cost £10 half price day at a reputable piercers

WhatsYourFuckingProblem · 07/09/2018 14:04

Well done OP! Hope it heals ok. Mine was really bad yesterday, don’t know why it’s gone so oozy and gunky. Have gone back to putting Savlon on it again and fingers crossed.
Glad it didn’t hurt too bad.
