Could anyone offer some encouragement and support for a moment

Name changed

I'm on day 91 of quitting gambling and today is really hard. I've got a horrible mental itch that I can't scratch and nobody from my support network is available to talk - working/holidays/bank holiday madness!

I'm not going to gamble. I know that and I'm in control. But can anyone distract me a little to ease this itch? I've been laying in bed for an hour tossing and turning, I thought sleep would help but I'm too distracted I can't...

Well done, enjoy your fresh sheets. I'm off to read the 'dead' thread, thanks for the link x

argumentativefeminist · 27/08/2018 10:12

Hope you're feeling good today OP 💕

Grave · 27/08/2018 23:13

@argumentativefeminist thank you for asking. Today has been much easier. DH is home and I've had lots of distraction and support!
Hope you're well x

This is why I love MN.

Well done OP, and all the posters who leapt in to support you Star

I just wanted to come back and thank you all again. It's now day 102!

The itch is there, but it's lessened. I'm in control and owning this bad boy!

Thank you so much for helping me through a really tough night. I am so grateful

Although whilst I'm back in this thread I also really need to know whether @House4 read the "apparently I'm dead" thread!

Hi Grave Smile wow well done on day 102! Your doing brilliantly.
The dead thread was great, you gotta love mumsnet. Think I need a day off to read all the classics Grin

MawkishTwaddle · 07/09/2018 08:22

You're doing brilliantly, OP.

Try downloading the Calm app. They have loads of distracting little meditations and stories on there to calm all kinds of mental 'itches'. I find it very useful.

MrsMozart · 07/09/2018 08:25

Very very well done!

Lallypopstick · 07/09/2018 08:28

I'd like to know what an aping onion is!

Day 116 today. I felt itchy but came back to this thread. Also checked into my quit app and have saved over £1500.., well I haven't saved it.
For the first time in a long while I haven't had to use my credit card to buy food shopping. I've bought berries and naice things to eat. I've up-branded our shit dishwasher tablets that didn't work to ones that do. Best of all, I should be debt free in two months.

Itchy or not. This is fantastic!

Well done, you're amazing! And nearly debt-free - you've turned your life around! You should be very proud of yourself. The Gratitude idea is so important. Hope you continue to do well. And have you tried pesto yet? :-)

grave · 21/09/2018 00:44

@dontblameme I haven't! I shall buy some tomorrow.

Go you! Totally rocking it 😀. Keep holding on to those positions like being debt free in two months, so amazing.
Have you got anything planned to mark that occasion?

House4 · 21/09/2018 07:34

Oooo a quick confession to make you laugh while I think about it.
Did you read the 'how do I seduce a man' thread?
Well, I thought it was a wind up so my comment was 'tell him you think you may like to go to Centre Parcs one day ...! Turns out it was quite a serious thread! The OP didn't understand and asked why she would say that Blush! But then next day someone else gave me a mention with a smiley face and I was all happy someone got my sense of humour lol!
