.......would it take you, kitchen to kitchen to go and get some by the fastest means possible.Something ordinary but not everyday-not cow's milk and a white sliced loaf, but not ewe's milk and an artisanal spelt loaf either. it took me 18 minutes 35
seconds to go for ground coffee this morning.

anyone live near a waitrose as their local?

Yes but rather use the next door Asda. Cheaper and less posh.

SleepyMcEdie · 26/08/2018 15:15

Kateandme- yes Waitrose is my nearest supermarket. I use Aldi though just round the corner!

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 26/08/2018 15:24

If I could get it on the cornershop it would be 5 minutes (unlikely unless it was alcohol or drugs Grin)

If I couldn't I could drive to sainsburies and back in 10 minutes if I really needed to but in reality it would probably take me about 20 minutes.

BertrandRussell · 26/08/2018 15:25

So so far, 3 minutes round trip is the fastest, I think, and an hour the longest- not counting writhing for tomorrow's bus and driving to Kosovo...I was just interested, because by most people's standards I live very rurally-but I am still less than 10 minutes drive from a well stocked co-op that's open 7-10 7 days a week.

If I had my trainers on and was prepared to sprint I reckon I could do there and back in 5 minutes. 6 or 7 if I had to put my shoes on first or walked. Costcutter has more or less everything essential and is open more or less all the time.

DramaAlpaca · 26/08/2018 15:30

Twenty minutes to get there & back by car, depending on traffic & whether or not I met someone I knew in the local supermarket who insisted on having a chat.

For something I could get in the local shop, about 10 minutes.

Pascha · 26/08/2018 15:30

Door to door, about 20 minutes if it was in the nearest village store. Supermarket would take 45

LBOCS2 · 26/08/2018 15:59

Aldi is about a 2 minute walk from my house. If it's empty, maybe 7 minutes. If it's busy and they're doing their usual trick of only having one till open, anything up to half an hour...

BitchQueen90 · 26/08/2018 16:29

Less than a minute if I walked quickly and there was no queue. I live in a flat above a tesco express. Grin

SleepingBooty · 26/08/2018 16:33

5-10 mins return walk to the shop down the road. It's open 6-10 and is not overpriced.

marcopront · 26/08/2018 16:38

Ten minute walk to the school gate.
Anything up to 20 minutes to wait for a taxi.
Ten minute drive to the supermarket.
(I could walk there but it would take me about an hour and i would need to carry a lot of water )
Ten minutes to find what I wanted, no chance of ground coffee there though.
A couple of minutes at the till, unless a safari vehicle has just arrived when it could take ages. (I have managed to arrive sufficiently before them every time so far)
Fifteen minutes back home.

So 50 minutes on a good day.

Babybearsporij · 26/08/2018 16:41

Co op is about 2 mins away by car if things are desperate. I can walk it and be back within 45 minutes.

mummabearfourbabybears · 26/08/2018 16:41

Well I'd have to take the youngest two so including strapping them in about half hour and it would cost about £100 because they'll need bribing. If you can wait and let me go tomorrow while said kiddos are at school about 7mins 27 secs (I haven't ever timed myself before . . . Honest! Blush)

RedneckStumpy · 26/08/2018 16:43

Depending on how busy it is probably close to 2 hours (40 mile round trip)

MollyMallyMindy · 26/08/2018 16:45

I can and have got to the local shop in under a minute; there's a closer chemist and a chicken-shop offie that sells ice-cream until 2am.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 26/08/2018 16:51

I'm just about to pop out so I'll let you know...

Ordinarily if I drove it'd be around a 10 minute round trip but it's after 4 on a Sunday so will have to go further afield

delphguelph · 26/08/2018 16:52

Two mins in the car.

PizzanCat · 26/08/2018 16:59

If the local shop has it then 10 minutes in the car.

If I have to go to the supermarket then it's technically about 3.5 - 4 hours of actual travelling but in reality it'd have to be a day trip.
Oh and it won't be happening at all if it's a sunday

AnotherOriginalUsername · 26/08/2018 17:03

Do I have to factor in the fact that my husband wants to come and takes 20 minutes to put his shoes on, and he wants to get fuel on the way? Hmm

pickleface · 26/08/2018 17:05

4 to 5 minutes. I'm about 30 metres from a tesco express. So handy.

BasicUsername · 26/08/2018 17:06

25 mins each way driving, so an hour including ten mins to get what I want and pay.

GorgonLondon · 26/08/2018 17:09

2 mins to corner shop,or after 11pm a 20 minute walk to tesco/other 24 hour shops.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 26/08/2018 17:10

There’s an Iceland five minutes away in one direction, and a small convenience shop five minutes in the other direction, so fifteen minutes door to door for most generic foodstuffs and a reasonable amount of cleaning and household stuff too.

There’s an Aldi and a CoOp a five minute bus ride away, but the buses are hourly on a Sunday and stop at 5pm.

Mehaveit · 26/08/2018 17:14

20 minutes at a sprint as the nearest supermarket is 9 mins by car.

Mehaveit · 26/08/2018 17:16

Our village shop is good for most things. I needed condensed milk for making ice cream and we walked there and back in under 10 minutes (including 2 under 5, looking for the damn stuff and counting out the money). But no vanilla essence so to Aldi we went.
