.......would it take you, kitchen to kitchen to go and get some by the fastest means possible.Something ordinary but not everyday-not cow's milk and a white sliced loaf, but not ewe's milk and an artisanal spelt loaf either. it took me 18 minutes 35
seconds to go for ground coffee this morning.

5 minute walk to Asda.

Elephant14 · 26/08/2018 14:46

MrsPear - "I would rather drive into Kosovo" - stoppit - go to Sainsburys like everyone else!!

NoBirthdayHugs · 26/08/2018 14:48

I live only 100 metres from a Tesco Express, which is open 6am - midnight every day. On a good day I could be there and back in 5 minutes - I have often rushed out to get baby wipes, butter or some other item we’ve unexpectedly run out of. However it often gets very busy and the queue is almost out the door so on a bad day might take 15 minutes or so. There is also a newsagent literally across the road which sells basics - I’ve run over to get milk before and been there and back in a couple of minutes, I don’t even bother locking up as I can see the house the whole time.

Takfujimoto · 26/08/2018 14:52

30/40 minuets to the local co-op
20 min walk to local corner shop but it's really very bare if you're looking for actual food, last time I bought a pint of milk from there and the next morning it had gone off.

SleepyMcEdie · 26/08/2018 14:54

I’de say around 45 minutes.

20 minute drive to shop (assuming traffic good), 5 minutes grabbing item and paying, 20 minutes driving back.

purpleorchidwhite · 26/08/2018 14:57

9 minutes door back to door.

FrangipaniBlue · 26/08/2018 14:57

10minutes door to Spar and back. 24/7.

I think that's pretty good considering I live in Cumbria where all my city dwelling friends keep telling me "but you can't get things just like that like you can in a city" Hmm

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 26/08/2018 14:57

3 min walk to two corner shops and a lovely organic bakery

Camomila · 26/08/2018 14:58

10 minutes...maybe 5 if I ran (but then I'd look odd)

When we move i'll really miss my local all in one cornershop/greengrocers/winemerchants

userofthiswebsite · 26/08/2018 14:58

I am fortunate to live 2 mins away from a supermarket.

Shockers · 26/08/2018 14:59

Booths is a two minute walk from my house, so 10 minutes tops, there back and purchasing.

HermansHermit · 26/08/2018 14:59

I'm about 2 miles from 3 fairly large supermarkets (all town centre), but it takes ages to get there because of the traffic. Add in the time walking to get what I want, then the inevitable queue at the check-out, and I can reckon on about an hour's round trip. I think the quickest I've managed is 40 mins.

There are no corner shops anywhere near: the closest is about a mile away. He has very limited stock and closes at 6pm. He has a good stock of sweets, crisps and biscuits, and also laundry detergent and cleaning materials, but it's not the place to go for eggs, pasta or breakfast cereal.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 26/08/2018 15:00

Five minute round trip on foot door to door, Sainsbury local just around the corner. If they didn’t have what I wanted there’s small M&S food, a little Waitrose and a Tesco metro a few minutes further away.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2018 15:01

Between the hours of 7am-11pm, 7 days a week I could drive to either Sainsbury's Local or Tesco Express and be back within 10-12 mins. If I walked it'd be 20-30 minutes. While you can't buy specialist stuff in those, they have a relatively good stock range (and where we are based assists with the range too, I'd imagine).

If the 24 hour Tesco was open, it'd be a 20-30 round trip, including going into the shop.

So not too shabby really.

kateandme · 26/08/2018 15:01

me realistically 15 mins round trip.id love to stop being a faffer and do it in 10.
if I ask any one else in the house.a frustrating hours or days for them to get it for me!

user1497991628 · 26/08/2018 15:03

Probably 40 minutes.

abitoflight · 26/08/2018 15:03

8 minutes to Waitrose
5 to a quite fancy coop

Givemeallyourcucumber · 26/08/2018 15:03

It would be about 45 mins from door to shop to home.

kateandme · 26/08/2018 15:04

anyone live near a waitrose as their local?

NoLeslie · 26/08/2018 15:05

Normally, 10 minutes, choice of convenience stores and a supermarket in that radius. At the moment am unable to drive or walk much and it's a total PITA not being able to pop to shop as and when.

ScreamingValenta · 26/08/2018 15:05

I live 10 minutes' walk away from a large supermarket, so it would take me 20 minutes plus however long it took to buy the item. If I asked my husband to go in the car, it could be done within 10 minutes.

kateandme · 26/08/2018 15:06

abitoflight you got me

user1497991628 · 26/08/2018 15:06

The Kosovo Sainsbury’s has a great coffee shop though.

whiskeysourpuss · 26/08/2018 15:06

10 mins to walk to the shop across the road or 15 mins drive to Tesco... but if it was coffee Starbucks has a drive thru 5 mins away so I'd probably just go there & sit in with a cinnamon bun & caramel macchiato for an hour avoiding teen DD who's not great in the morning Wink

Bluelonerose · 26/08/2018 15:07
