STFU with your loud music! Turn it down! It'll go on all day now, it does every Sunday.

If this is every weekend OP I think you'd be well within your rights to go up and knock on the door and politely ask them to turn it down. They may well not realise how loud the music is in your flat and how much it is affecting you. You're entitled to peace and quiet in your own home.

@PhilomenaButterfly makes sense then.

Yeah, I think anyone other than the people playing the music don't like listening to it and can get in a rage, NT or not. But maybe it's our reactions to it that differs.

Being subjected to a washing machine in a flat can make me see red, for example! I used to live below someone who would out a 3 hour wash a few feet above me and it become such a course of contention I moved out!

PhilomenaButterfly · 26/08/2018 18:46

Well, I can't stop people doing the washing, but I object to it at 6am, when the people upstairs sometimes do it.

You're very kind, PB Smile

Most people hate loud noise that interferes with what they are doing but it might affect NT people differently? I thought maxthemartian above described hers and her husband's different responses well.

Similarly but differently, lots of people find noisy eaters quite or very annoying, whereas someone with misophonia will be consumed with a murderous rage.

PhilomenaButterfly · 26/08/2018 19:32

DD's a noisy eater, which gives me a walking over my grave sensation. Not quite the same?

Not quite the same, no. I don't know how others experience it, but it's definitely a murderous head-ripping-off rage for me. I can't filter it very well - there have been times I haven't been able to continue a conversation whilst I'm hearing it. I'm a bit better these days so I think my overall stress levels affect my ability to filter.

I get stabby when I hear DH biting his nails. Was watching a film earlier and I had lego to occupy me and all I could focus on was DH's bloody nail biting across the room!! Arrggghhhhh. I loath the sound of people eating too. DCs have a few friends who are terrible for it. I actually avoid having them over as I can't stick it.

BlackeyedSusan · 27/08/2018 02:22

murderous head ripping rage here as I am approaching sensor overload. we have to go to separate rooms.

ds gets murderous rage too, and is still too young to prevent himself from actually trying to murder me.
