What was your experience of morning sickness and early pregnancy? Was it just nausea / vomiting or did you have other symptoms too such as dizziness?

Like a permanent hangover. I was rarely actually sick.

feemee · 26/08/2018 07:38

Vomiting. All day long. 🤢

SilkeOvesen · 26/08/2018 07:39

I had terrible morning sickness with DC1 and it felt like a horrible hangover a lot of the time. I don’t remember dizziness particularly (the whole thing’s a bit of a blur) but I was very unsteady on my feet and felt the whole hangover/seasickness/exhaustion combination so I’m sure it was a big part of it!

Like feeling travel sick. Just nausea, not vomiting. I always felt I was going to be sick, but felt better nibbling on biscuits constantly (not brilliant as I put on nearly 5 stone )

lovelovelovepancakes · 26/08/2018 07:40

Yes to the pp who said it's felt like a permanent hangover. I was sick a lot though and lost loads of weight. I now don't drink alcohol anymore.

StrongerThanIThought76 · 26/08/2018 08:15

I felt nauseous constantly. From before I'd even done the test to the day before the 12 week scan. Just totally sick feeling - watery mouth, felt like I was on the waltzers at the fair, churning tummy. No other symptoms other than I couldn't face eating anything sweet for months.

Second time round no nausea just absolute exhaustion again from before I'd even tested until - well, dc is nearly 13....

SleepyMcEdie · 26/08/2018 08:21

Yes like a constant hangover. Not actually vomiting but constant feeling of nausea and dizziness. It’s awful!

Tweakanddashi · 26/08/2018 08:34

Vomiting, vomiting, vomiting. Exhausted. Both times I've dropped 2 dress sizes during pregnancy (apart from the bump and fluid accumulation, but it's obvious once the baby is out).

I found it very difficult to get my GP to take me seriously, but when I told the midwives really honestly how I was feeling they got the consultant to see me that day and got me ondansetron which made a massive difference to the nausea and reduced the vomiting to a couple of times a day at most.

Best of luck!

Flamingoose · 26/08/2018 08:37

Like the worst hangover in the world. Nausea, dizziness, extreme fatigue, vomiting, sensitivity to food and smells, indigestion. And it lasted for 9 months.

Lovingit81 · 26/08/2018 08:38

Urgggghh nausea all day long Sad With my first DS is was so powerful it kept me in bed for weeks and lasted for 5 months! With my second DD i could cope better but it lasted the whole pregnancy (sorry that's not common). It's ghastly and not much eases it I'm afraid. You just need to knuckle down and keep your eyes on the prize! Xx

Silvercatowner · 26/08/2018 08:38

Mine was like travel sickness. It was a horrible feeling.

Lovingit81 · 26/08/2018 08:39

Ps dizziness was also common with both mine x

bellinisurge · 26/08/2018 08:39

All day long. Couldn't even keep down water. Ended up in hospital with hyperemis symptoms too strong.

salopek · 26/08/2018 08:41

Permanent hangover. Constantly nauseous. Eat something, feel sick. Don't eat anything, feel sick.
Lots of vomiting.
🤢

Heatherjayne1972 · 26/08/2018 08:44

Yeah like travel sickness
With hypersensitivity to some smells
For me it was odd smells like cardboard boxes but weirdly other smells I was ok with

DerfelCadarn · 26/08/2018 08:48

Constant nausea until about 15 weeks pregnant, relieved for about ten minutes by eating a biscuit... Felt 'floaty' as if my head was drifting a few feet above my body. And knackered.

Bizarrely I was not physically sick in the mornings, but about 5pm each day.

I only wanted to eat very plain foods - potato, banana, porridge, plain biscuit - but also marmite. The idea of meat was completely disgusting. Coffee and wine smelt absolutely vile.

Lost weight in first trimester but made up for it later!

thaegumathteth · 26/08/2018 09:02

First time Round I had hyperemesis so I felt dizzy and sick and weak because I wasn’t keeping anything down.

Second time I felt hungover all the time and was usually sick only once or twice a day. Just felt crappy, really tired and nauseaus

QuietNinjaTardis · 26/08/2018 09:06

Like hell. First pregnancy I was sick
Multiple times a day and couldn’t eat much and couldn’t even drink water without throwing up. I had a week of feeling sick first.
Second pregnant I had a week
Of feelingmsick and then started throwing up continuously. After a week of that I ended up in hospital and was diagnosed with hyperemesis. Couldn’t move without vomiting, couldn’t even open the fridge without vomiting.
It was relentless 24/7 as was sick all night long too.
Never again.

YeTalkShiteHen · 26/08/2018 09:08

With my boys, I was sick all day every fucking day, the entire time. I was still being sick in labour!

With DD I felt sick all the time, but wasn’t actually sick more than a few times.

Witchend · 26/08/2018 09:43

Like flu with no let up. For 8 months.
Very occasionally I'd have a fleeting glance of what it might be like not to feel sick. And then it went.
Depended on the child as to how often I was sick, but that wasn't as bad as the constant nausea.

Surprisingly I chose to do this three times.Grin

vampirethriller · 26/08/2018 09:54

No vomiting but dry heaving a few times on getting up until about 12 weeks. Nausea if I didn't eat regularly.

Camomila · 26/08/2018 10:00

All day vomiting plus fainting on my morning commute quite a few times.

Gaviscon was mildly helpful.

Bimgy85 · 26/08/2018 10:03

Just a constant impending doom of nausea all day long in large waves and little ones. Trying not to get sick when out. Which happened anyway. Embarrassed to get sick which made me feel more sick, throwing up at bus stops. On trains. In restaurants

Bimgy85 · 26/08/2018 10:04

I love risotto , when pregnant if I even seen it I'd get sick! Could only eat bread/crackers at best. Food smells/smells would trigger me and I'd be off.

sdaisy26 · 26/08/2018 10:08

Like if someone had told me I actually had a terrible illness and was about to die I would have completely believed them. Especially with DS. I was very sick though, vomiting multiple times a day for the whole 9 months.
